Hi, I am Hannes, 30 years old Estonian guy. I am a new owner to a historic country house in southern Estonia. The house was built in 1830s and served originally as a roadside inn. Now the busy days are long gone, the time stood still in this place for many years. My aim is to restore the building, preserving as much of its old and rustic flavor as possible. I also started to get interested in permaculture gardening. There is a small orchard which I would like to revive. I`m particularly interested in old regional varieties of fruit trees.

So, there is a lot to do, but there`s no hurry. It is all in a very early stage. Comfort of the 21st century should not have been taken for granted here. Helpers are expected to work 2-4 hours per day for a simple meal and bed. There is possibility to choose between different tasks. I would be happy to show you around the beautiful surrounding and wildlife. It is a lgbt-friendly place. People from different cultures are seen as a great possi... more inside

Hey

My name is Simone. I am 33 and originally from Germany. I bought my beautiful piece of heaven in the wild south east of Estonia in June 2017 with the plan to build an off-grid, as self-sustainable as possible traveler community and a youth art centre.
After working and living and saving money in Melbourne/Australia for 7 months I took the first baby steps towards turning this dream into reality last summer (2018) and built a wooden cabin. I also got a pond dug out, planted some fruit trees and made willow fences around the garden area last year.
There is still lots to do and I would be very happy to get some help and meet some interesting travelers who somehow made it into this remote part of the world. So if you are a keen builder, gardener or adventurer with community spirit and a passion for simple living please stop by. Potential jobs/things to do would be helping with building a greenhouse and an outdoor kitchen, plastering the inside walls of the house with clay, s... more inside

We are a family with 4 small children.
We moved to the countryside about 4 years ago and try to create a comfortable home from an old farmhouse in the middle of a wild nature. Enjoying it tremendously and would like to share this experience!

And we are always grateful for help with looking after children and cooking.

***
WE NEED SOMEBODY FROM GERMANY in between January and April (for at least two weeks) mainly to teach us German.
We speak German good enough for basic understanding but need a lot of practice.

Also you should help with the household work and cooking.

It would be wonderful for your own sake if you liked children :)

Please contact for more information!

Our project began as a vision of self-reliance – a home disconnected from the hustle of everyday life in which we are too often entangled. As this vision developed into a passion project, we discovered traditional ways of living off the land.

Our buildings reflect our ethos, designed and built from natural and reclaimed materials that compliment the surrounding aesthetics of our forested environment in Lahemaa National Park.

Off-grid living is a mindset.

We invite volunteers to experience off-grid living and to submerge yourself in a culture of mindful exploration in Lahemaa National Park. Our site is detached from the network of cables that stretch around the globe, but the connections created here stretch much further. Regardless of where you live or from where you collect your electricity, our goal is to share with you our honest version of what we believe is the future of sustainable and mindful tourism .

Volunteering here gives you the opportunity to live in an amaz... more inside

"Back to basics" historic but young organic sheep farm in lovely nature welcomes your help on your adventure!

Our family farm in South-Estonia looks very private thanks to the lovely hilly landscape where it is located, yet it is in the middle of a small village Assikvere in South Estonia, about 50km from university town Tartu.

Farm's main activity is growing black-head sheep (about 300 heads). At the moment we are using approx. 100ha of land. Additionally the potatoes and several other vegetables (garlic, strawberry, rootbeet, carrot, beans, green peas etc.) are growed and volunteers welcomed. Our family of 5 lives part-time in Tartu and part-time in this country farm (named Lauri farm).

Farm´s main living building was built in 1919 and is an example of Estonian country mansion architecture with its size, height, porch etc. It is unrenovated. Sheep growing in farm began at year 2008 so we are new in this and we are growing. 2 production buildings have been built since th... more inside

// We are looking for CARPENTERING expertise. We have most tools and can arrange other ones. Just need someone who has experience and confidence in these jobs! //

Hi! Our little household is on the riverside in classical Estonian village in the North-East. We are a mother (Laila, 46) and daughter (Johanna, 26) who are trying to renovate an almost century old large house and surroundings to make this home into a cozy place. We are looking for helping hands because two girls are just not enough to keep up with the work. We have a cat and a dog, goat Raimondo, and also some sheep who come for the summer. Help is needed with renovation in the main building, organising the sheds, at our vegetable, herb and flower gardens, and then the season comes, also with picking fruits and berries. We have a sauna (on wheels!) which needs a few finishing touches, and then everybody is welcome to enjoy it, and the kiddie pool.

There are many beautiful spots around, the sea is 30 minutes by bike... more inside

Dear helpers, I am sorry to announce that we cannot take any helper this year as we are going to renovate our house. Stay tuned!

We are a young family with three kids (6, 4 and 2) in South-East Estonia, about 80km from Tartu and 45km from Võru. We run a small hobby-farm with a more-or-less organic vegetable garden and small herd of sheep and some bee-hives. In this summer we are happy if you can help us with all kind of farm-work - tending the garden, helping to feed animals, repairing the fences, picking wild berries and mushrooms from the forests that start right behind our backyard, chopping and storing the firewood etc. We expect you to work about five hours a day and in your free time you can hike in surrounding forests, walk to the lake Lämmijärv for a swim, take our bicycles for visiting surroundings and get to know the traditional sauna customs. Our home is quite small but as an Estonian proverb says: lots of good sheep can fit into the same barn:) Sleeping is in one of ... more inside

We are a small family-based organic farm. We raise a beef cattle (around 45 cows at the moment) and horses (around 25 at a time). All our big animals live outdoors in big natural paddocks, also in winter. The beef cattle is so far only grass fed. We also have some mini sheep and chicken.
We are rising the number of cows year by year until we have around 120 cows in the main cattle.
We have two small children (a one year old and 3,5 years old boys)! We have a tiny garden and some apple trees as well. The area is very beautiful right next to Piusa river Nature reserve.
We are looking for someone who feels good in nature and around animals and children. You might be a couple as well. We have all sorts of different tasks for you e.g helping out with checking the fences, feeding horses, cooking, babysitting, making fire for sauna etc etc. If you have experience in living in the real countryside its great, if you don't but are enthusiastic and willing to learn, no problem either!
If ... more inside
