We are currently looking for 1-2 helpxers to come anytime in October or November 2018! Fall chores include firewood gathering, harvesting what is left of our gardens and bedding them down for the winter, as well as helping Tim with whatever he is up to in regard to construction or lumber organization.

The island:
Haida Gwaii in the fall doesn't get as cold as other parts of British Columbia, and we often have a lot of mild, beautiful sunny days throughout fall & winter. November is our storm season, but that is also when our surfing picks up, so if you're looking to hit the waves on your time off, fall is the time to come :)

Would you like to come and help us out?

We now are looking for someone to help out in September and October.

We are located in Sandspit, on Haida Gwaii, a remote archipelago in the northern part of BC, close to Alaska.

We are a small (5 rooms) and comfortable B&B overlooking a scenic bay in our tiny community (250 residents) and only settlement on Moresby island. Since a few years, we operate a small Hostel within the B&B, just one room, with 3 single beds in.

There are daily flights from Vancouver to Sandspit, where the property is located, and also a ferry coming from Prince Rupert a few times a week.

I am a 39 year old male, originally from France and in Canada since over 10 years. I just became a citizen in 2018. This is now going to be my 10th summer on the islands. I have been and am still a helper myself and have traveled in Canada using various websites. I have also traveled for a few years in Australia and New Zealand, on Working Holiday Visas.

We have been developing 5 acres on Salt Spring Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada for the last 9 years. We are building new garden areas and improving those that we started over the last 6 years. A lot of the work will be related to digging new areas, planting, mixing soil, etc. We are also in the process of building a greenhouse. We also have a lot of wood to be chopped using a hydraulic wood chopper as well as stacking this firewood.

We eat very healthy with a lot from our gardens. We are mostly vegetarian. We prefer to take in one worker at a time.

We can offer you very comfortable accommodations with internet. You will have your own full bathroom and your private space where you can enjoy your breakfast. We will be pleased to eat our main meals together in our home. Of course all of the food is part of what we have to offer for your help in our projects. We are mostly vegetarian.

We are a retired couple and have a lot of energy and plans. No children.

I am a full-time artist and my husband is retired. Our lake-front home is in a remote location on Quadra Island with occasional artists visiting or helping with production in the studio. We would like to host a tidy, non-smoker in our home, to help in the studio, with housework and perhaps in the yard. We can only accommodate one person at a time. The studio help requires attention to detail and may involve help with framing, assembling gift cards, or preparing canvases and etching plates. Help with preparation for and perhaps participation in the summer and fall art shows may be needed. Computer skills would be useful with my database and newsletter.
My husband can always use help with the endless yard and house projects and the firewood, but the housework (cleaning) and studio help is our primary need. My website (see link above) can provide more information. A two week minimum stay is required. We have a kayak, and a canoe and an indoor small swimming pool. My studio hou... more inside

Come experience life off-grid!

Lasqueti Island is a unique off-grid island with passenger only ferry service and hundreds of feral sheep. It`s a pretty fantastic place, with a great community of rugged, quirky characters and beautiful mossy forests, rocky bluffs, beaches and wetlands for you to explore in your time off, plus (depending on the season and how long you stay), there is the option of going to dance and yoga classes and/or the community sauna 2x/week, plus various fun seasonal community events like ArtsFest, Firefighters Picnic and the Fall Fair. June-September there is a weekly market on Saturdays. We`ve also got lots of great books on hand. The property has a pond (great for swimming in warmer weather) and backs on to public land you can hike through down to the ocean. The island has some of the largest tracts of remaining mature coastal Douglas fir forest and we see deer and feral sheep, (harmless, small) snakes, frogs and toads, eagles, ravens and lots of othe... more inside
