We are a couple in our 30s with two young sons and and a small hobby farm in north central Illinois. We have a small variety of animals including birds of all sizes, horses, camel, goats, donkey, dogs, cats. We do not make any profit from our farm or animals, so we both work full time away from our home.

Due to being gone so much, we are looking for help with all farm tasks in exchange for free room, wifi, food and laundry. Minimum stay 2 weeks. Can accommodate 2 persons; possibly more if willing to share a room.

Can provide hobby farm experience, education on animal care, horse back riding, camel trekking, raising poultry (peacocks), leather work. Helpers work alone and with us, and are also welcome to join our family on any trips or excursions while they are present.

Work is self-paced, helpers need to be able to work on simple tasks independently. Daily time commitment depends on how quickly you get things done and how much time you want to put into them. Tasks vary g... more inside

This farm is located in the rolling hills of rural southern Ohio. It is primarily a cattle farm but my wife and I are now retirement age and are leasing out much of the farm. We are seeking seasonal help for maintenance of the grounds. This consists of mowing grass, mowing pastures, fixing fence, spraying and clearing brush, removing encroaching trees, helping with mulching flower beds, minor maintenance of farm equipment, some house sitting. Farm helpers will be given a very nice bunkhouse for their use. It has sleeping quarters, full kitchen for meal preparation, bath, etc. We need one person 4 hours/ day, 5 days per week but very negotiable. We feel that helpers should be able to take in the local sites and not be confined to the farm every day. Some meals will be provided or food for personal preparation. We have no internet service and poor cell phone coverage. No smoking or pets permitted. Public transportation is 20 miles away but we can help with errands. We prefer helpers ... more inside

We are a new produce farm starting on a few acres of a larger farm that has been in my family for almost 120 years. We have 3 hoop houses and a seedling house. This year we are starting with a manageable size CSA as it is our first year. We are looking for individuals to help us finish building out our farm. Jobs will include field development, planting, weeding, harvesting and packing. We also are working to clear some of the remaining acres of scrub brush. We have a small flock of chickens we raise in chicken sleds. There are many projects including wood cutting, minor construction and fence building. We offer accomodations in the form of private apartments. Meals can be provided but not everyday. Groceries provided. We expect 5 hours per day 5 days a week. Must be able to handle physical labor and working outdoors.

I moved to this beautiful valley in November of 2018 and have been avidly homesteading since. Projects that are currently in process include, but not limited to; gardening, pond management, forest management, blacksmith shop set up, and wild-food crafting. We currently have a guest room with one futon and lots of camping space. We are completely off grid in one of the most beautiful spots on the Earth next to a spring fed pond. We may also ask for help at Viroqua kitchen with Nami Chips, Fizzeology or community kitchen for free food distrobution, depending on interest and need. We can work out menu planning and shared meals. We are not vegetarian but can work with vegetarian diet. We go for local organic foods. Looking forward to creating community on a broader scale:) Hours needed depends on season and tasks. Generally 3 hrs a day is minimum, 5 max 4 days a week. Depending on season and resources, possible additional paying work at kitchen.

Hi everyone,
Jenny and Alex here! We moved to Detroit in 2013 after living in Asia for 5 years. Alex is originally from California and Jenny is from Hong Kong. We met in Germany through an internship and later fell in love in a hostel in Spain while road-tripping through wine country. Alex has a background in tech start-ups in NYC and California while Jenny worked in marketing for L`Oreal in Hong Kong and Germany.
We LOVE to travel and have lived and adventured throughout Europe and Asia extensively. In 2013 we decided to move back to the US and thought we would end up in California but when we heard they were tearing houses down in Detroit we decided to check it out. As any open-minded traveler knows, a good place can often be distorted by the media so we decided to do a road trip to see the city for ourselves. After driving into Detroit we fell in love with the city! People here have a lot of pride and heart. There is a spirit of resilience and you can feel the energy as the ci... more inside

Live in a beautiful home on Gull Lake, which was ranked one of the ten best inland lakes in the country by National Geographic, in Richland, Michigan, 2 and 1/2 hours from the heart of Chicago. Sail on our sailboat equipped with an electric motor for if you get stuck! Explore nearby Kalamazoo, Michigan, or travel forty-five minutes to Lake Michigan. Our youngest son was a HelpX in Saas Grund, Switzerland, and he had a wonderful experience helping and sking the awe inspiring Swiss Alps. As with his experience, help with yard work, house work, painting, and organization of items for twenty hours or less per week. Have your own bedroom and bath, except on holidays. Stocked refrigerator and pantry for your use. We are a casual family who would like to continue to return the favor of our son's experience in Switzerland.

My husband and I and little daughter would like to welcome you to come visit us at our farm in Marshall, MI, for a day, for a week, or for a season. There is always much to do and we are always happy to meet new people with our same ideals: a love for people, the beautiful planet we live on and all the sweet fruit it will produce for us when we work together, in harmony, and for sustainable and wholesome living. We are looking forward to a very busy summer full of good, hard work, fellowship, and seeing the fruit of our labors grow right before our very eyes. We are working together to live a simple life from the heart. We hope that our labors will make a home for the lonely--for others with our same heart.
If you are a woman wanting to come help us, your days will consist of helping with flower gardens, weeding the vegetables and fruit, processing the bountiful harvest--chopping, freezing, canning, and cooking simple, delicious meals from the fresh produce coming in for everyone t... more inside

The farm was founded in 2013 with the idea of providing organically grown farm fresh fruit and vegetables directly to the local community. We decided upon a permaculture approach because of the flexibility, variability and regenerative models build into this growing system. We also wanted to create community connections through events, educational programs, farm to table gatherings and collaborations with other land conservation organizations.
Our mission is to add greater value to the local food link and to create multi-cultural events, and gatherings.

Howdy, we are Joshua and Lucas and we are Topaz Homestead located in the beautiful and rural Cabool area in Missouri.

Our homestead is quite humble and there's a lot of work that needs to be done but we have a wonderful greenhouse in it's third season of growing all sorts of delicious and flavorful salad greens, lettuces and other veggies that we will be pre-packaging into gourmet salads to sell at local farmers markets, co-ops and to subscribing customers. It will take us about three months (as of 03/05/20) to have another batch of farm fresh salads ready to sell and a lot of work that needs to get done before then.

There's always projects to work on and right now we need someone who can help with mulching, some minor fence repairs, helping dig and lay irrigation systems and installing a caterpillar tunnel before the summer comes. We also want to get a better composting system this season as well.

There's goats, chickens and a slew of cats and dogs that are all outdoor ani... more inside
