Currently seeking volunteers for the following

Baltimore, MD

--------------------------------------------------

I have a tastefully restored classic row-house in Baltimore, Maryland.

I am a professional in my early forties who works full time in Washington, DC and owns a home in Baltimore, MD. The Baltimore home is a restored 19th century townhouse and I have five bedrooms that I share with roommates. Since I work full time and spend a lot of time commuting, sometimes I need some help keeping the home clean and with errands like trash/recycling and dishes.

As for me, I speak conversational Spanish and some French, and can read any Romance language. I work in International Finance and have traveled the world and I love meeting people from new places. I am friendly and get along well with people, though I do expect that work will be performed with a good work ethic. I ... more inside

**COVID-19 has meant we have not hosted anyone yet, but we would like to start communications with interested helpers to come join us from mid-July 2020.**

We (Kara, Ben, and adored-dog Freddie) have been living at our new home on beautiful Chautauqua Lake for less than six months, and are loving the lake life so far. We are renovating the apartment side of our home and improving the land. Helping hands are warmly welcomed!

Our home is on a half acre of land. We have worked this spring to turn grass into gardens, we built raised beds, and are planting (native when possible) trees and shrubs, and other projects to get our piece of paradise closer to our dream dwelling. We also have an apartment that is attached to our main house that will run as an Airbnb when the remodeling is complete. We are also remodeling our side of the house. The house is a conventional house, but we implement as many natural building techniques as we can and attempt to repurpose and reuse, keepi... more inside

Sorry but with the various issues surrounding the coronavirus, we be closed for the rest of the season. We have a family of 10 between 3 householdsa and are all sheltering in place as much as possible. With the additioms to oir hoisehold, we do not have space or feel that we can have farm guests at this time.

Please check in January for an update and to see if we will reopen the farm. Thank you, stay safe and healthy.

I am halter training two heifer calves, they are 10 months old now and will be almost a year old when we will be open again next season.I hope to teach them ox commands to eventually do light duty work on the farm. Come and learn with me! Planting, harvesting, weeding in the gardens, cattle care, chickens, bees, some building, in season mushroom foraging and cultivation, and much more in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mts of Virginia.

We are not your typical American family, farm stay or community. I garden extensively, have chickens, cattle. bees - somewhat like a... more inside

A little about us... we are a young couple (late 20s) with four children under the age of eight. We have two inside dogs and a cat as well as a LGD (livestock guardian dog) in the field. We love to learn about other cultures and are very accepting of all people in all situations. We are a developing farm that focuses on sustainability and integrity farming. We like creative solutions and believe that out-of-the-box thinking is a good thing. While we aren't considered "organic" we do use holistic medicines, use non-chemical home products and focus on healthier animals.

What do we do? Currently, we are developing a new properties (so putting in fencing and spring development & converting a building into a deer processing facility), raising goats and rabbits as well as building a market garden. We process rabbits and poultry on our farm and help other farmers under state exemption. We are attempting to hone in our gardening skills. We tan and taw hides from our animals. We make our ... more inside

Howdy Traveler!

/////

Business and life suspended because of Covid-19. Feel free to contact me to dream about life returning to normal!

We are located 8km west of the atlantic ocean. To the east of us is a 40mile resort strip which runs north and south. If you enjoy water and outdoor activities, you will like it here. Swimming, surfing, kayaking, trails it is all here. And we are only 200km from Baltimore, Washington, and Phillidelphia. New York city is a little farther - but all the cities are close enough for day trips.

During the last five years I have hosted over two-dozen people from countries such as Austria, Aruba, Belgium, Brazil, Jamaica, Egypt, Germany, Palestine, Romania, Russia and of course, the United States. I have a lot of stories to tell from those guests. I already have a story about fishing a tire out of a 'gator infested swamp, to a helper singeing his eyebrows off by lighting a jet we built with a cigarette l... more inside

Lee is rebuilding a 45 ft. Wooden Schooner in a small Historical/Maritime town. This area is a great place to relax/unplug/create/swim/walk/bike/sail and paddle but city thrills one must drive for. We also bring other boats back to life with cosmetic repairs and enjoy sailing them. Short walking distance to shops, library & post. We also have a 25 ft sailboat in the water for sailing fun & accommodation. Tent space is also available.
In summer we are on the Chesapeake Bay ... more inside

Highland Farm is located on 160 acres of forests and rolling pastures, with ponds and an extensive forest trail system in Southwestern Virginia, nestled among the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The Jefferson National Forest, the New River, and multiple access points to the Appalachian Trail are less than twenty minutes away. Over the years, our family and others we have invited to live on our property have undertaken a wide variety of projects—a market garden business, music festivals, tiny house and van builds, trail building and forest gardening projects, sheep dog trials, airplane landing strips, and more. We have always believed in making the amazing resources of our farm available to members of our community and beyond who have a passion for living close to the land in a creative, communal setting.

We are looking for helpers as we move the farm in new directions in the upcoming years. In 2020, we are planning on focusing primarily on Airbnb as a way to generate income on th... more inside
