Greetings!
(This is an opportunity for 1 person only please;)
8 km north of Sámara near a small village (pop 150) called Esterones, my property sits on a hill in the jungle about 12 minutes walk from that village. You will find a small supermarket, a restaurant and a tiny hardware store(they don't have WIFI;). Walk a bit further and you will find 3 world class beaches. It's about an hour walk to Sámara. The closest bus stop is about 45min walk with only occasional service but ‘hitchhiking’ is perfectly normal mode of transportation here. This is a chance to get to know a special part of Costa Rica, I've been in love with this area and its people for 20 years. I've also been a helper for the past 10 years in Peru, Italy, Japan, Australia, France, Portugal, Kenya, Ireland...and I dig it!
I normally work my land from Nov-Feb and May-July. I travel the rest of the time.
I have a small plot of land, 10.900mt2, but I only cultivate about a fifth of it and the rest is natural jungle w... more inside

Animal Rescue and Sanctuary and Organic Vegan Farm in Central Costa Rica

Hello everyone! Take note: we are currently at capacity for helpers until April 2020.

What we do: We take care of animals, we grow organic food, we prepare and eat tasty vegan meals, we minimize our impact on the earth, and we enjoy the company of our Costa Rican friends and neighbors. We have run a volunteer program for over 9 years, and have had several hundred people come to work with us!

Our farm is primarily an animal rescue, rehab and sanctuary. Our doors are open to animals in need. We currently have many rescue dogs, a goat, two pigs, a horse and three cats. Some came off the streets, some were abandoned, others were injured and no longer wanted. We adopt out what we can, but most are “lifers” on the farm.

The property (roughly 3.5 hectares) is covered with many tropical fruit trees, including water apple, mandarin orange, banana (many varieties), guayaba, guanabana, cas, ciamito, lime, c... more inside

Committed to the health and well being of the planet, I am investing my energies into the residents of this small pueblo, which is now my home. My children are grown & living abroad but practice & promote sustainable lifestyles which they learned from their mom growing up in Costa Rica. Now I have the time to share this knowledge with this special community, far off the beaten path. The most immediate need will be during July 2019 when the students will be on their 3 week vacation. Although I believe that children need free time, I am offering an alternative to the TV, video games and cell phones. We will be running a free summer camp with arts, song, dance & games within the context of a structured eco-camp being implemented around Costa Rica. Fluent Spanish is not necessary but obviously some spanish language skills will be helpful. If you love children or would like an informal opportunity to teach & guide children, this may be just for you! After camp I will be looking for volun... more inside

Hello,

We are a French family : Gwenola, Yotam and our 3 years old son Sabbath living in Costa Rica for 3 years ½.

We are creating our paradise in the mountains, reforesting pastures with a lot of fruit trees. We both have certification in permaculture and our goal is to create an edible forest. We also grow organic veggies.

We cook a lot, we become vegetarians. We make fermented food and drinks, bread, yogurt, cheese, mead etc...

We also like art, music, cinema, photography.

We live in a super quiet place but not isolated : we live between San Ramon (15 minutes drive) and la Fortuna (1h30). The bus stops at 5 minutes by walk. If you go in direction of la Fortuna at 15 minutes drive there are touristic activities like butterfly garden, bungee jumping, canopy tour...

We are now looking for a volunteer that can help us with SEO and online marketing to develop our Bed and Breakfast.

We can share with you our passion for cooking, we would love to share about music, ... more inside

For many years we had been a family farm with organic gardens (raising, greens, root crops, herbs, etc.), animals (dairy cow and her baby, horses, rabbits and ducks)and lots of wild areas. Currently looking for volunteers to help with organic gardening, light construction projects, trail improvement and maintenance and various creative projects (photography, artwork, landscape beautification, and other projects. opportunities also exist for work with horses as well as natural building work. Easten neighbor to farm is Cloudbridge reforestation project with many trails to explore, Northern frontage of farm is Chirripo river with incredible old growth forest on opposite side of river and to the west of the farm down the hill about 1km is the village of San Gerardo, The farm is close to the end of the road so rather remote. Not a party place but nice place to come for individuals, couples or families who enjoy peace, quite and natures bounty.

Our goal here is to preserve and respect the environment. As a result of this, we are vegetarian and we believe in the importance of recycling, reusing and organic farming. We also want to share our resources and knowledge with our community.

Come and visit our plantation where you will find about 90 types of fruit trees and other trees, 10 types of bamboo, cacao to make your own chocolate, flowers and 2 creeks to refresh in when it gets too hot! Here you will be immersed in a typical Caribbean Costa Rican village.
