Adventurous souls, come live the dream and help us maintain our remote sustainable eco-retreat. Immerse yourself in nature, permaculture community, and the magic of Ometepe- Isla de Paz.

We are Trevor and Rachael, two Americans who arrived on Ometepe 7 years ago and fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of this island of peace. Since then we have laughed and cried, played and worked with friends from all over the world as we struggled through the adventure of finding land and developing it, leaving the island and returning with our daughter Aurora to realize our dream of raising our family in this magical place.

Two years ago we successfully opened a small eco-hostel that enabled us to generate additional resources for continued investment in our dream of living our life off our land. Unfortunately, because of the current political climate, Nicaraguan tourism has fallen to virtually nothing. However, through out this situation Ometepe has remained calm and we ar... more inside

Our lodge is located directly on the beach of the Pacific Ocean, on a nearly deserted island, yet only 20 minutes from the historic city of Leon, Nicaragua and a 5 minute boat ride from the beach town of Poneloya. We are the only Island solar powered hostel on Nicaragua's Pacific Coast.

The lodge includes a restaurant, swing bar & lounge, surf school, yoga, massage and other activities.

Volunteers are asked to work 35 hours a week, morning, afternoon and evening shifts. Work includes running the bar, serving guests, running volleyball tournaments everyday, running events and games, making sure customers are happy, renting out equipment and overall making Surfing Turtle Lodge the best place to be in Nicaragua. Volunteers mustn't be shy and must be able to deal with big groups.

Our volunteers receive a bed in their own dormitory and three meals a day/free water on working days. They are also allowed to use equipment and participate in activities, like horseback riding, yog... more inside

This is not just a hostel, it's an experience.

Our hostel is a traveler-owned and traveler-inspired hostel located in the beautiful beach town of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. We proudly opened our doors in November 2015 with the simple yet powerful mission of connecting great people with each other, great experiences, San Juan del Sur, and Nicaragua. Ever since we open, we positioned ourselves as the top rated hostel in San Juan del Sur in terms of security, atmosphere and staff.

The socio-political crisis that the country is leaving has affected the country in different ways. Luckily, San Juan del Sur and most other tourist places in the South of Nicaragua have remained non-violent throughout the conflict. Things are calmer now, roadblocks are gone, people are moving across the country and every day there are more and more tourists coming.

Our project is meant to create an opportunity for travelers to safely enjoy Nicaragua while working with the community in projects t... more inside

HOLA! We are a young couple who recently purchased some land near the hostel we own on the beach in Salinas Grandes, near Leon, Nicaragua. On that land we want to build a permaculture farm where we can grow our own fruits and vegetables, have some chickens and be completely self sustainable. We also want to incorporate some aspect of our farm into our community projects that we have in the area. We want to teach and inspire the community how to be more sustainable and greener. We have various projects on the go, we are starting everything from scratch so we need all the help we can get. Right now we are working on our rainwater catching systems as well as building a chicken coop and composting toilets. We are also planting various kinds of fruit trees and plants. We need your help to help all of our projects see the light. We welcome any ideas or skills you may have and we will gratefully share ours as well!

The Nicaraguan highlands are known for some of the world’s best coffee plants.

The coffee farm is now being further developed in a diversified farm (coffee, other food crop and animals) and shaped into a platform for exchange of knowledge and cultural values between the native people and individual travelers from around the world.

With this platform we want to improve the local economy and quality of life. Furthermore we strive to maintain Nicaragua’s cultural values in times of growing tourism.

A space where travelers can learn and live the culture and also give some of their own experience and individual values to the local people. It’s about give and take.
You’ll be living in the same conditions as the farm workers: you’ll have a roof above your head, a mattress, running water and electricity. Food will be supplied three times per day.

Based on our values we believe that every person has an individual way of how to approach a new culture. May be through music, meet... more inside

This is a multi-disciplinary Science, Health and Arts center and retreat in northern Nicaragua that encourages community living and cultural exchange. A public service guild in a private setting, our labor and leisure are centered on an organic quality of life, including ecological and interpersonal harmony.

Nestled in the mountains of the Nicaragua highlands, the property is conveniently located just off the main road just 2km outside of Jinotega, an area famous for its coffee and fresh produce. There are frequent bus connections that make it here easily accessible from other nearby major towns. Temperatures here are refreshingly cooler than in the lowlands and there's a range of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in the area including hiking, motorcycling, and exploration.

UPDATED 5/27/17

This is a beautiful, authentic, little hotel run by a lovely Nicaraguan family. The owner Carlos is a key member of the community and is actively involved in helping in many ways (you can help also if you would like!). Here we are all about unity and helping each other for the greater good.

We are located in a very laid back place with tranquil surroundings. Jiquilillo is undiscovered by tourism at the moment and has a really chill vibe. Think - waking up and falling asleep to the crashing of the waves, laying in the hammocks or on the beach with a good book, interacting with the local kids and families, watching the fisherman bring their boats onto shore in the morning (or going out fishing with them!), surfing, kayaking the mangroves, and much more.

At the moment our staff consist of Carlos and his family. His includes his wife Mercedes, who is an amazing cook and a beautiful human, and his children whom are all equally as lovely as well. Additionally we... more inside
