Eco-aldea Medellín

Come and join the joy of NATURE!!!

Hola! :) I'm Alejandro from Medellin, I own a big property with 3 family houses!

I have two daughters, 4 dogs and I live with my wife Yeye

The property is located in Envigado, the South of the city with average weather of 24°. It is 3kms away from the Metro station, it has bus stops near with routes going to everywhere in town and it has supermarkets and shopping malls just by...

I grew up in this same house since always, a place surrounded by nature; lots of huge trees, a river coming down the mountain, 4 dogs (my lovely babies), squirrels, butterflies, hummingbirds and hundreds of different birds.
Since 4 years ago I've been working on a project which brings together several passions that lots of people usually have and at the same time creates value to the local and foreign community. Just to mention some of the branches we've been performing:

-Football
-Beer
-Travels
-Music performance
-Artistic per... more inside

Hola! This is a small farm located in the mountains just 1 hour from Bogotá; We live a simple lifestyle and we have built our houses with wood and recycled materials, we have solar energy, collect some rain water, make our compost, and our main activity is the big natural garden where we grow different kinds of vegetables and some fruits; all the time we are making it bigger and better

We invite volunteers to help us planting, weeding and harvesting in the garden, planting trees, taking care of the animals (dogs, cats, chickens, sheeps and horses), some construction, between others, in exchange of 3 big healthy meals mainly from our garden and accommodation in the volunteer house; we only ask for a small contribution per week ($80.000 COL per person) for basic expenses at the farm.

We all help in the kitchen and cleaning the house. We try to make it different every day depending on the weather and activities. Sundays are for relax and enjoy ! We wait for you :)

- November

1st week - (28 october - 4 november)

Hi we are Ana and Carlos :)
We are working to reactivate a Colombian agro-ecological coffee farm in a small town located two hours from Bogotá. The coffee grows between bananas, oranges, lemons, maniocs, cacaos and lots of different trees. We are in a Cloud Forest of the colombian Andes characterized by its unique biodiversity. Our goal is to rescue the history, crops and traditions of this rural area maintaining a coffee culture of respect and care with the living beings in this mountain. In the future we are planning to develop cultural activities having in mind we both are visual artists. In october we'll be in our secondary coffee harvest. Would you like to join us?

Accommodation:
We have a shared room with a double bed and a single one. It has its own bathroom with hot water and a small balcony. We have Wi-Fi at the farm. We also have tra... more inside

Here in this home lives a small family; Cristian and Alejandra. We have a variety of animals of smaller species (goats, guineapigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks) and we have been working for four years in the process of agroecological management. In the vegetable garden we cultivate a diverse range of vegetables and medicinal plants in a purely organic form thereby seeking to greatly improve the well-being of the cultivated soil as well as that of the people who consume this produce.

!!! (In addition to the volunteers we request for habitual work, we have a space available for a volunteer who wants and looks for a longer residence, at least a month and a half) !!!

We live in a permanent relationship with nature and our daily work allows us to marvel even more each day at the beauty of our environment. Our daily tasks are; feeding chickens, rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, cleaning their houses preparing compost, cultivating the vegetable garden, harvesting and building b... more inside

We moved to our farm in December 2013. Have learn loads during this time and we are still enjoying this type of life.

There are lots of activities done in the farm, and many projects in which volunteers can help.
Volunteers will usually help with the veggie patch, fruit picking and processing and helping with the daily drill of feeding animals. We usually go and do a beehive inspection so that volunteers can have this first hand experience.

We currently have tropical fruit trees, mainly mango and citrus trees, beef cattle (11), bee hives (30) and 4 ponds for farming fish (non organic).

We dont update this post regularly, but we are active and will answer in the next 1 to 3 days.

About us:
We want to live on and from the land following organic principles. We used to live in London and worked in corporate jobs until June 2013, after which we did some woofing in the UK and HELPX in Italy.

Transport from Bogota is very easy. From the main Bus terminal there are... more inside

I live in a tropical rainforest along Caribbean coastal Colombia.
I've recently bought a small acreage that I will design and develop into a sustainable model farm using permaculture and local knowledge. It's truly a blank slate with only large trees dotting the hilly landscape. There's 110 meters of beautiful clear water river frontage, think daily dips.
My plan is to develop a timber and food forest, garden, nursery for young plants, land stabilization, rain water harvesting, a botanical paradise, inviting place for the monkeys and birds and eventually a small chocolate facility.
I need help building infrastructure. Immediately, plumbing for the main house, laying of ceramic floor tiles and completion of a bath house and wash station is another priority. Next a perimeter barrier. Basic construction experience and knowledge will be useful as would work with cement.
I'm a retired Canadian who enjoys people nature and adventure. I have pets.
Minimum stay one month and hopeful... more inside

We are located just outside the beautiful pueblito of Guatavita, one and a half hours north of Bogota by bus, surrounded by mountains and sacred lakes. It has a cool climate, early morning mist and clear starry nights, and at times we get rain, wind and perfect sunny weather all in the same afternoon. We are just across from Tomine Lake, and the famous Laguna de Guatavita (the volcanic lake which gave birth to the El Dorado legend) is only a two hour hike away.

We grew up in the city, but after travelling for a time, I realized that the campo is where I want to be. We want to help change the relationship between people and the land – we don’t need monocrops, pesticides and toxic fertilizers to live well. We want to encourage more traditional farming systems, based on permaculture and biodynamic principles, and drawing from the long-practiced wisdom of established farming communities like this one. I am also involved with a bunch of social projects, including University courses, ... more inside

Hello travelers, nomads and future helpers and thanks for your interest in our profile!

Our farm is located about 1,1/2 hours outside of the city of Cali and the same distance from its international airport. We are at 1,450m above sea level on the western cordillera (mountain range) of the Andes mountains. The yearly average temperature is around 21°C which means we enjoy the climate of Medellin ("the city of eternal spring") while being close to Cali.

Our project started as a dream a little over eight years ago. The farm is inhabited by a Colombian-German couple and we mainly speak English among ourselves. We have for (4) adorable dogs and one (1) sweet cat.

The idea behind our project is a place to work in harmony with nature and the future goal is to reach a certain level of sustainable self-sufficiency. It has been a little more than 3 years since we started to plant a forest. Today there are around 8 ha planted in bamboo, trees from the region and others. With this we ... more inside

Hi, my name is Eber!

I manage a small family run farm in the fresh forest hills overlooking Pitalito town. I am looking for volunteers who want to learn how to care for and milk our beautiful dairy cows - Negra, Niña, Niño and baby Cassy.

The exchange will include preparing the food and feeding the cows, caring for the health of the animals and administering medicine, cleaning and upkeep, landscaping and field work and, of course, the milking (which means you will have a nice fresh bottle milk for your coffee every morning!)

I will provide everything you need to help with the cows and require only three hours of your time throughout the day. In this time, I´ll be around to give guidance and show you the ropes. The rest of the time, you will have this peaceful mountain ranch all to yourself.

We have basic rural accommodation on the farm, including private bedroom with bed and blankets, gas and wood kitchen, fridge, bathroom and shower and watering hole for hand washing ... more inside
