In the 1970s, Cambodia’s brutal Khmer Rogue regime contributed to the mass extermination of two million people including intellectuals, thereby completely destroying education in the country. The country was left with nothing. Over time, Cambodia has been slowly developing again. Presently, it seems everything is back to normal, and a large number of schools have opened and continue to open.

Unfortunately, many of them do not provide appropriate progression to gain a better start in life for certain children. Problems mainly involve all disabled children, such as children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). These children are very sensitive, shy, and struggle in other areas, especially the ability to communicate and relate to others. However, they also have a unique set of skills, so they sometimes test in the average or above average range.

Additionally, children with intellectual disabilities have less ability than normal children of their age and often struggle in a regula... more inside

Our school a non-governmental initiative founded by Mr. Chheun Rith and sponsored by Project Cambodia; an Australian organisation founded by Leon Pope. Together we utilise humanity and cultural curiosity in everyday travellers, and offer them a local insight in exchange for their time two hours per day to teach English to our students. Volunteers wishing to spend more time teaching, we are happy to make arrangements with the public school, to see where you’re able to assist. No experience is required, just passion and enthusiasm!

Mr. Rith has opened his home located in Ouressey Village outside Kratie Town, to support local children to learn English, which is not taught in the public school curriculum.

Our mission is to support the young community by teaching English, which is vastly becoming important throughout Cambodia. Learning from volunteers from all over the world gives the children a comprehensive understanding of the English language from a multitude of perspectives. ... more inside

Have you ever dreamed of living in a community of like-minded people, working in a beautiful garden, learning new things every day, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and trying to become as self-sufficient as possible? Do you feel like going back to the roots, to a more simple lifestyle, in cohesion with Nature? Join us as a volunteer and experience all of this!

We are a young project (started in early 2018) that aims to create a place where people can reconnect with themselves, others and Nature, far from the craziness of the city. Our main focuses to develop it are:

2. Mushrooms - We have experience cultivating Oyster mushrooms and are interested in expanding to other varieties like Shiitake.

Greetings!

My name is Rye and I'm an expat/"transplant" in Cambodia since 2013 -- with a few breaks here and there, hehe.

I have travelled around the world and lived in 5 countries. I speak the five languages of the 5 countries I've lived in: English, Filipino, Espanol, Portugues and Khmer.

Most recently I went and started a hostel in the world's most beautiful island -- Palawan, Philippines.

As the itch of travelling got to me again, after two years of building and running the hostel, I realised that I missed travelling so much, talking to so much travellers!

And so I've come back to Cambodia where I first moved in 2013. My family has a small store here and I've decided to come back because living in Phnom Penh allows me to travel easier given that Thailand and Vietnam are so near.

I would need help in the simplest things but it would have the most impact: retail help; interior design and/or architectural help to improve the layout/flow of the store; audiovi... more inside

Our night-time atmosphere ranges from very relaxed chill out sessions to high volume DJ party nights. This is a great place to meet travelers from all over the world as well as locals and expats here in Phnom Penh.

We are seeking motivated individuals to help out behind the bar and work the "front of house." Your title will be "customer experience representative" and will include bar tending (very basic), assisting in party planning and event promotion, and simply socializing with the guests to ensure that everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest here?
