Volunteer Teaching
Teaching is a challenge especially for those who teach foreign languages in Indonesia. Many EFL teachers have taught their Junior or Senior High School students for more than 3 years, but getting their students to speak out loud is very difficult. Research findings indicate that Junior and Senior High School graduates have not been able to use their English skills productively. Many Indonesian students admit that speaking skills are very difficult to master.

In searching for a possible way to improve students acquisition of the English language, an expert says that when producing a word, they must pick the meaning before the sound, and when they recognize the word, the sound comes first. In order to recognize the word the students should hear the proper sound of the word first rather than pick its meaning. Since the proper sound ideally comes from native speakers, the students would greatly benefit from listening to native pronunciation and words and messages... more inside

"Help teach English to our community and let's join to learn about Tomia Island culture in Wakatobi, Indonesia"

# About me:
Hi. My name is Al (30 YO). I studied at the Yogyakarta Art Institute - Indonesia for 4 years with a major in Graphic Design. As long as I am in Yogyakarta, there is a lot of experience that I have gotten from getting involved in several arts and education communities, which made me stay and stay in Yogyakarta for 10 years.

When I returned to my place (Tomia Island) I began to think of creating a community for children and adults in terms of art and education as well. For now, what I'm starting to develop is the "Mari Mabook Camp" which involves children from 8 years to 12 years old. I developed the Mari Mabook Camp based on the experience I had while in Yogyakarta. I really like to be friends with anyone and very open to anyone. I have a hobby that might be the same as you like; Camping, Hiking, Snorkeling, Playing guitar and Reading books.

We are a newly married couple building our home in Raja Ampat.
Our names are Jack (English diving instructor with business in london) and Adecya (Indonesian).
If you google Raja Ampat you'll see it described as the the last paradise on Earth which is arguably sadly true but like most places is facing many issues with unsustainable growth.
We are working with the local community to build our home as ecologically friendly as we can and use as main permaculture ideas as we can. We work with the local community to protect the reefs and surrounding area and wed like to start more projects with the local community.
We can always use help with our home, garden, reef and getting these projects off the ground. As you can see from the drone pictures its a large piece of land which has a lot of potential.
We live completely off grid with our own generator and our own water system.
The underwater picture you can see is of our reef 20 meters from the shoreline. Together with the... more inside
