--Introduction--
We are a community founded in 2016, based in the beautiful countryside of Japan. Our project consists of a few major parts; retreats + workshops, organic farming, and a healthy diet. Which all combined boils down to `holistic health` and a `holistic approach`. We try to tackle nature deficit disorder, and we help/encourage people to find their mission in life!

We ask for a small daily contribution as a volunteer, which is smaller the longer you stay (this is because we prefer people who stay for a longer period of time). If you stay with us as a skilled volunteer it is free.

--Help Needed--

Often we are with 3-5 people (plus our daughter), and our project is quite big! We have quite a big space to take care of, as well as our (organic) farm. During the summer we always need extra hands on the farm with harvesting, selling and general care of the plants. We mainly grow melon, tomatoes and pumpkin, but we do have a variety of other vegetables as well. (whic... more inside

I live in an old house by the sea, on an island, an hour on the ferry from main city.
I have a small garden and citrus orchard that need to be taken care of.

I am looking for a handyman with carpentry skills, for minor repairs/renovation/painting, burning old wood, clearing, weeding..
I work in town 3 days a week and need a presence on the island while I am away.
You would be working 3 hours in the morning, from
Thursdays to Sundays. That means you would be free on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
A private room is available but meals are not provided.
Also a bicycle to tour the island.

I have a dog and cats, so someone good with animals is a plus.

If you're interested and would like to contact me, please type the word ORANGE at the top of your mail to acknowledge that you have fully read the requirements.

***Make friends on the most beautiful Island of Japan***

I am inspired by a previous HelpX project I volunteered at for a while: it was an English conversational school in Mie Prefecture, where foreigners were offered a room and in exchange they had to speak with Japanese students for around 3 hours a day on 5 days per week in English about any topics they like. It was not about teaching, but making the students confident with speaking and listening.
But the main reason students were coming was to learn about new cultures and make friends from all over the world. So it's not just this one hour talking, but they are also happy to hang out after the lessons with you and guide you around their area. And as the students became friends with the foreigners, they even went to visit the volunteers in their home countries too, isn't that amazing?!

Inspired by this concept I thought why not start the same thing, but instead of going to a random city I will choose this tropical island... more inside

We have a preparation kitchen, where lots of fresh vegetable preps, cakes, etc. are prepared, that you could join in with. We also have a small bakery, which you could help and learn a bit of baking.
