Canon Frome Court is an intentional community of about 40 people (adults and children) living in separate self-contained units within a Georgian manor house, stable block and cottages on 40 acres of land. We work the farm co-operatively with the aim of producing a substantial part of our food including meat, milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables.

Land includes 20 acres of pasture, 8 acres arable, 2 acre walled vegetable garden, a large (dilapidated) Victorian greenhouse and polytunnels, an orchard, a small area of woodland and a lake and garden. We have dairy cows, goats and sheep as well as hens, bees and, sometimes, pigs. You may be working on just about any job on the farm: with the animals, gardening or on the grounds and buildings.

We generally host up to 3 volunteers for a fortnight at a time for general helping out about the farm and estate. In addition this, we are currently renovating our Victorian greenhouse and are also looking for people with building skills, particul... more inside

We are Amanda and Jonathan, we live in a beautiful rural location in South Devon, (4 miles from Totnes) in 2 adjacent old cottages. We are not far from Dartmoor or the sea.
We are both creative artist/designer makers and teachers in our respective areas. I work with wood, carpentry and construction and teach geometry of pattern making and ceramic tile making. Amanda is a textile artist/designer working with natural and hand dyed felt and is also a very keen and knowledgeable gardener.
We are pretty relaxed, friendly, helpful, generous, artistic people. We have four children who have all now left home, the last being Amoria who is 20 and still at university who might still be around during the holiday period. We have done helpx ourselves as have all of our children during their gap years. We think it is an amazing organisation.
We are looking for people who enjoy practical work and the sense of achievement it brings. What you do will definitely make a difference to us. The jobs ... more inside

Hello prospective HelpXers

We are now booked until mid September. If you are available from then until late October - please email.

The work is mainly on the farm, which is simple work of feeding and watering the animals and chickens (plus the ducks) and milking two of our goats.....

If the weather is good (and not too hot) there are outside jobs of gardening and landscaping the kitchen garden.

In exchange for all of this we will supply good food, a lot of conversation and a good sprinkling of laughter!

So if you are interested in what I have written above, please let me know as soon as possible as we need to fill our vacancy.

Please read.....

We do like our helpers to stay 3 weeks (or more) - This is because we have a lot to teach new helpers and this takes time. The first 3 - 4 days we would be working with you and then you would need 2 days off, so that is the first week gone....

I live in south Birmingham and I would like some assistance with graphics, video , developing my photography skills, website design and social media in order to get my business up and running here.
I have an allotment which needs digging over before the winter too. It is in a beautiful spot 5 mins walk from the house and could use some help there too
This area is beautiful and green although we are located in a major city. Bus route just outside the door to central Birmingham, Stratford is 15 miles away. Lots to see and do here, Birmingham is an exciting, vibrant and friendly city.

My name is Charlotte Raven. 'm a journalist and writer, currently working on a book. I am suffering from Huntington's disease - a degenerative brain disease which causes a variety of physical and cognitive problems. I live in a big house in Kentish Town with a cat a teenage daughter and some of the time my nine year old son, who spends most of his time with his father who lives a few doors down. We have plenty of room here - including a lovely light and airy spare double room - and I'm looking for someone to move in who would do some gardening, light household chores, help me out from time to time and be good company. Ideally they'd be interested in literature, politics, feminism, music - the things I'm interested in. They will find that this is an unconventional but interesting and creative household to be part of. I'd like to say it was organic - it mostly is, but we have our lapses and I'd rather under promise and over deliver than disappoint. You can read my blog at F... more inside

We are a small team who collectively own and work a 32 acre mixed farm in Worcestershire. We aspire to a model of agriculture which is ecologically, economically and socially regenerative using profitable, soil building enterprises. We are primarily market gardeners, selling high quality organic vegetables from our 1acre no-dig market garden directly to consumers through our vegbox deliveries or wholesale to retailers, restaurants & distributors. Along side the market gardening we use holistic planned grazing to regenerate our pastures with sheep & pigs, and are undertaking an extensive & diverse agroforestry project throughout the farm over the next few years. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in producing food professionally and have a strong work ethic. In exchange for your labour we will provide food, comfortable accommodation, structured education and for those willing to commit for longer periods a financial allowance. We have 30 years experience growing organic... more inside
