We are a small organic and educational farm with 50 goats, 13 donkeys a bunch of chickens and peacocks. We make our own goat cheese and rent the donkeys for trips in the "Plateau des mille etangs". We try to set up a big vegetable garden with ancient races. Our place name comes from the old water mill on our site (in function for making apple juice in autumn) which we keep in mind of everybody with expositions and concerts. We are regularly visited by schools and groups of handicapped or elderly people.
We have also a small campsite and 2 guestrooms.

# Helpers welcome from august 1st to 15th! #

We are living in a former 18th century farmhouse in the countryside 40 minutes by train north of Strasburg, 50 min. to Karlsruhe or Baden-Baden in Germany. The house is surrounded by a large garden in a picturesque alsatian village below the Vogesian mountains. We have reformed it, using traditionnal and organic material. We would appreciate help - 4hours/day - in the garden (mostly organic) i.e. mowing the grass, trimming the hedges, picking the fruit, helping tending the vegetable and flower garden etc, and some light maintenance work in- and outside the house, like painting shutters, according to the season. We ourselves travelled a lot around the world for many years; Now, Klaus enjoys gardening and music - there is a piano in the house; Valerie likes cooking, especially using the garden ressources, and all kind of needlework. We can communicate in french, german, english, italian and japanese. The next railway station, Soultz-sous... more inside

Hi,

We are Toby (41) from the UK and Ania (31) from Poland, a young couple with a 2 year old daughter, Sarah.

We are slowly bringing back to life a beautiful old french farm which was previously renovated into a 16 bedroom hotel by my father back in 1990, the house is in the rural countryside of the Dordogne, a very peaceful area with lots of sun and beautiful wildlife.

Located in the centre of the French wine region in-between Bergerac and St Emillion. 60km from Bordeaux.

The house also has a sports complex with squash courts and gym. This year we are working hard to reopen the squash to the public and would be very grateful for some help, we have done most of the renovation work the past few years ourselves but it does feel never ending and a little help would be appreciated to help us push forward a bit quicker.

We used helpx last winter and we had a good experience, so we would like a bit more help this summer.

If you are good with your hands & happy to get i... more inside

Sorry but for 2019 we don't host anybody anymore, we are complete!

We are retired teachers. We inherited a large family property with several buildings and a large field. We are nature lovers and we decided to create a park (arboretum) and we take care of it. We also produce organical vegetables and fruits, but we do not make breedings. We are not vegetarians, but we are very careful about the quality of our supplies : we are members of an AMAP, "voisins de panier" to buy local organic food to complete our production. Paul is also involved in a workshop of wood and a blog on the internet. Pascaline is interested in writing. We both play music and we work together a lot in the park. The house is large and well appointed and the last few years we do hosting also couchsurfers and bewelcomers. We really appreciate getting to know all kinds of people. Since spring 2012, we received more than sixty helpers! It was a real exchange : we helped those who wanted to learn French. If possibl... more inside

UPDATE; Accepting health conscious couples or single girl travellers. We have updated our garden house bedroom ensuite to include Internet, new winter heating, Desk workspace and newly decorated. We could also have a very chic bedroom in the main house with attached huge living room with Internet which is private although shared bathroom, if there are 2 friends travelling together. Due to now working set hours each day and still building our house, we prefer HelpX guests to be self reliant as much as possible and help out with the cooking (instructions given if you want to learn some new cooking skills) as we have less time this year for entertaining as we have so many projects to finish. So HelpX guests who are self reliant and can get on with their off time by making themselves at home and taking care of themselves would be preferred. We can still take you on local sightseeeing visits though!

This is a little farm located in the south of France not far from Pyrénées and Spain.
The goal is to work and help to dress my 9 horses, riding and keeping care in soft manner. There are also 11 goats (two for milk), 3 dogs, 6 cats, 3 chicken.
I can speak with you in French, English, and German. I like human with sense of soft communication with horses.
I need help in building fences for the horses and the most important task is to take care of the horses.
I need you to help me in cutting firewood in the little forest because I cannot do it by myself! I take only helpers for a stay, at least for 3 months.
The reason why is: somebody who are used to like compagny of the horses knows it might be better staying a minimum of time for making a valuable relation with them.
A very important thing is the soft communication and the work of breaking down a young horse:
There are two young horses with 4 and 5 years old, only working for human who have experience with young horses. T... more inside

Welcoming helpers for Autumn 2019

Our home is located in the quite isolated countryside of La Creuse, the greenest region of France.

We have a very cozy old farm-house that has been renovated and offers simple comfort for all seasons (wood stove heating, heated bathroom, hot water, etc). There are also two large barns in good shape. In our land, we have an expanding biodynamic vegetable garden, a marvellous greenhouse, a beautiful leisure garden, a young oak grove, a chicken coop with 6 hens, green pasture for our 6 sheep.

We practice organic cultivation and care of everything on the land. We bought the property three years ago and have much to do, so if you have the skills and motivation to do some work in good company and a relaxed atmosphere, you are welcome to come and stay for a while!

The work we need help with is varied, such as:

- building: continuous improvements and repairs on various outdoor buildings, fencing
- gardening: our vegetable garden is growi... more inside

Hello, my name is Dominique and I live in Les Herbiers, it's a town about 15,000 people, 1 hour from Nantes, 1 hour from the sea (les Sables d'Olonne). I have 3 children about 25, 23, 21, they are sometimes home, but they are students in Paris and Angers.
I'm a teacher during the week, and sometimes during the end of the week I cook "Crêpes" in the market.
We have a house in the center of Les Herbiers, with a big garden.
We love meet people and take good time together. My friends say about our house that is like " L'Auberge Espagnole".

So I would need help for the following things :

Garden : - Mowing the lawn
- Cleaning the flowerbeds

House : - Painting the kitchen
- Painting the bathroom

Barn : - Tidying up

I hope we'll have good time together.
Dominique

I am 60 years old and I decided some years ago to move from the city (Bordeaux) to the pine forest on the way to the ocean....
i'm renovating an old farm using as possible an ecologic way of doing (lime with hemp for the walls), i'm doing the more i can by myself and my son (27 years) help me when he is not working on his boat, and my daughter (25) when she is not around the world (now she is in Canada).
i began to do a vegetable garden with permaculture, i had a good result last year and it is better and better!
Now, i need an help because i have to save the old beautifull barn that is just in front of the house. The first thing to do is to take off the old tiles and redone some carpentry pieces. With a friend of mine that is a builder we decided to do some happy working days in the 7/8/9 of July, we need some arms and legs...with the heads would be fine !!!!!
Join us for the BIG SAVING HAPPY DAYS!!!!!
and please sorry i try to speak english but i'm just french !! ;)

Having now moved on from our bed and breakfast, in which we were lucky enough to host for some wonderful people, we have now started a new project by the river gardon, just upstream from the world famous "Pont du Gard" unesco monument.
We'd very much appreciate help in making this new place into something special, and hope to get to know some new and interesting friends on the way.

If that appeals to you, please get in touch
Update:
Having now spent sometime getting our garden started and water hole installed, we are getting on with various projects in the garden and outbuildings, with the view to eventually becoming autonomous, any gardening experience helpful, or being able to wield a spade.
