It is a nice starting permaculture family farm, with children, connected to the community and transition town initiative. we co-organize community events. It has a swimming pool, orchard, vegetable garden, chickens. We (and you can also) play ultimate frisbie and get together with friends. It is located 500m from the village and 15km away from the beach where I go surfing regularly. We also rent rooms for guests in the summer. We like calm nice people like ourselves ;) It is located also by a nice forest and grazing areas. We have wifi, bikes and lots of nice things to do:) In winter and when cold, volunteers stay in two rooms and in summer you can stay in the camping with tent but have the access to the house and are welcome and integrated as part of the house dynamic. Feel welcome!

We have 2 hostels, one in Cascais and another one in Carcavelos!

Cascais - it's a hostel located in the center of the villa of Cascais. You have a lot of bars, restaurants and local shops just around the corner. The beach is at 5 minutes walking. You can get to Lisbon in 30 minutes.

Carcavelos - this a surf hostel is located in front of Carcavelos beach, one of the most famous beach breaks in Lisbon.We have a big garden and a swimming pool with a BBQ area. You can get to Libon is 20 minutes.

We need someone to help us maintaining the hostel for 2 months at least :) We provide to the helpers a bed in a staff room (with 4 beds) and the breakfast.

Basically the volunteers will have to:

- help with general maintainence of house for the guests;
- Help with check-in and check-out our guests;
- help the guests with general questions;
- help us with garden.

SPRING 2019 - Needing skilled & imaginative people for:
- building water tanks (with ciment blocks)
- electricity (solar pannels)
- carpentry (all sorts of different projects)
- mud building
- tile roofing

Hi everyone! My name is Cloe, I'm 33 years old and come from Belgium. French and english are both my mother tongues although I speek much better french because I haven't been practising my english alot. My portuguese is getting better from day to day.

I just bought a 2 ha land on the east side of Portugal, close to Fundao. In the long term I would like to build this land into a funky permaculture farm/campsite with different types of accommodations (tipis, yurts, caravans, tree houses,...) as there are plenty of hikes and cycling opportunities here. Everything is to do as I'm alone (with my 2 very friendly dogs) and it is only the very first stages of the project.

A river is boarding the land but unfortunately is dry in summer.
I have many olive trees on the land as... more inside

Hi there, thanks for choosing to read our entry :))
We live on a small farm (2.5 hectares) inland of Central Portugal, 30km from the Spanish border in a beautiful wild area. From our land you can see the mountain of Monsanto (Sacred Mountain).
We have 80 olive trees, 250 vines, various fruit trees and an ever-expanding vegetable garden.
We are restoring the land; planting trees and digging ponds and swales. We are working towards a food forest, self-sufficiency, and money-less living. Those are our ultimate goals!
Volunteers will be working on any of the land projects: digging garden beds, planting trees, watering the nursery, working in the veggie garden or helping us build because we are still in the process of creating structures.
We like to use natural methods of building and work with reclaimed materials as much as possible.
We are designing our property along the lines of permaculture principles. A friend recently called our life-style 'natural living'. We don't reall... more inside

I am living on a small organic farm in Central Portugal, and are looking for helpers to assist with garden and land work September and October.
Our property and business (yoga retreat) was devastated last year in the fires here in Portugal. Work will be using a chainsaw and axe for chopping wood and strimmer for land clearing, also some gardening. Would suit a single male or couple. Accommodation will be in a bell tent. Three meals a day provided - or food for making meals.

I expect 4-5 hours of work a day in exchange for food and accomodation. Weekdays only and probably the position is open for 2 weeks maximum.

I am living on my own with my two daughters. I am located a short walk from the local village of Madeira, but are situated in private woodland surroundings Plenty of swimming, walking and quiet spaces available.

We are a family house working to achieve an existence in harmony with Mothernature and with the Universe. We work to promote our association, we live on a donation base and we learn, save and share the ancient knowledge of our ancestors, integrating the concepts of permaculture. We live a natural life, we sometimes cook on the fire, we make our own candles, eat from our foodgarden, we live and celebrate the cycles of the sun and the moon. We live a simple life, and we invite everyone to join us as part of the family, only expecting them to contribute in a way that may let us grow and expand. We have everyday all kind of work to perform: farm work, agriculture building, repairing, cleaning the house, cooking, and many other tasks.
Most important our mission is to live and share the Great Spirit of Love...

Welcome home family...

Hi there!

Olives and Acorns is a smallholding on 5 hectares of stunning countryside in Castelo Branco region of Central Portugal. It's been 5 years since we've started our journey, and we finally feel like we know a bit more about what we are doing and can pass that knowledge along.

We've started our farm enamoured with principles of permaculture, but the project evolved into a mishmash of different agricultural ideas, homesteading methods and anything else that works in harsh dry Portuguese summers. We are loving our experiments and are constantly looking how to improve things even more!

I guess you can say that we are a homestead, aiming for as much self-sufficiency as possible, growing veg organically all year round, raising livestock for food, preserving what we harvest and building infrastructure when and as needed.

We keep sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, quail, 3 adorable and well behaved dogs and a mob of farm cats. They are all well loved, free to roam and c... more inside
