We have arranged for 2 guests in August and will therefore not be needing anyone else until next summer. This is a small nature reserve consisting of a small wood of an acre or so, a wildflower meadow of about half an acre and a wildlife garden. We are situated amongst farmland and near to the beautiful Tas Valley. We would like our guests to help scythe and rake the meadow - this might take around 4 hours a day over about a week, depending on the weather. The rest of the time would be your own. There would be lots of rest. We would give lifts to Norwich to explore this ancient city, to Cambridge, and to the beautiful North Norfolk coast. We would also take you for a day out in London. I am a retired teacher and could help with language skills. There would be lots of conversation. You would enjoy home cooking and have a bedroom of your own. We are a retired couple and we would share the work and work alongside you. We could teach you how to scythe and believe you would find it a... more inside

Attractive rustic old Norfolk Barns that I have been developing, on a shoe string, since 1991. In 1997 I built an eco-cabin and extended it in 2004 with a 50square metre straw-bale,on rubber tyres buildingy. We have a reed-bed purification system, and have started harvesting water. There is a large vegetable garden which I have developed along Permaculture principles with composting on site cf. Thanks to a former volunteer we now have a wonderful polytunnel. I am a member of the Permaculture association which has always been a source of inspiration.Sadly I am without large animals For many years I ran animal assisted activities, but recently have
given the ponies and pigs to a wonderful project working with city school children in a residential setting, giving them an experience of the outdoors. cf Ringsfield Hall Eco-centre near Beccles. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out with gardening work on an estate where we try to live in a sustainable way. The work is varied and involves teamwork. It also offers an opportunity to learn about permaculture and growing fruit, flowers and vegetables in a kitchen garden, a herb garden and an orchard. We also need help in keeping livestock (chickens, sheep and goats), and with maintaining a fly fishing river. Other jobs include logging, mowing and all other areas of gardening, plus buildings maintenance and decorating at times if that suits you.

If you want to learn or improve your English this will be a good opportunity as you will be working with an English-speaking team.

We provide all your food (including our own organic produce) and accommodation sharing a house with other volunteers, but you will need to cook for yourselves. We live on the edge of a busy little market town, so we have the best of town and country to enjoy and you can borrow a car or... more inside

Hi Helpxers,

Below is an explanation of what I am looking for:

Help to run a VERY small guest-house: c.3 hours work per day per Helpxer (c.20 hours per week).

The above includes:

Checking guests in and out: Cleaning and preparing bedrooms. Keeping the kitchen, bathrooms and television lounge clean and tidy. Gardening and general maintenance in both the guest-house and at my nearby properties.

I also occasionally need help with weeding/cleaning at my rather derelict properties in north Wales, c.85 miles from Manchester.

At the moment I advertise rooms in Stretford, Manchester, on Airbnb and Sparerooms, and I need some help caring for the house and for my guests.

My home is c.2.5 miles from Manchester City Centre. We are close to 3 Metrolink stations and regular buses run to the city centre: A Day Ticket, offering unlimited travel around Greater Manchester on Stagecoach buses, costs 4.

Please do not send me a Helpx request more than 3 to 4 week... more inside

This is a low impact rural enterprise located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Centre promotes art and culture, eco-tourism, conservation and permaculture. The Centre is a few minutes walk from some of the most spectacular sandy beaches and coastal walks in England.

Temporary seasonal accommodation is available to visiting tourists in the form of yurts. The yurt camping field consists of a spacious field divided into 4 main circular spaces so that visitors can feel enclosed within their own private glade. Wildflowers provide valuable wildlife habitat, fabulous for observing bees and butterflies.

The project aims to conserve, protect, and enhance wildlife habitats and geological and archaeological features. Another aim is to increase the bio-diversity and productivity on the land and create a haven for both wildlife and visitors.

Volunteers can expect to get involved in a variety of jobs and activities from helping to manage the yurt camp, f... more inside

Devon - general help with garden, clearing ground, weeding, firewood, fencing., a little help in the house with cleaning etc.

We would love to meet someone who is able to help us with mostly outside jobs. Some of the work is quite hard so you must be strong and fit, and willing to work in all weathers! Also routine jobs like feeding / cleaning out hens, weeding and tidying.

We also have painting in the house to do, so experience of this would be helpful.

We are musicians (traditional/folk) living in the South Hams of Devon - an area of outstanding natural beauty. We are self employed in musical instrument repairs and always in need of more time for our business - the reason we need some help. We live in an old cottage in a village with a bakery and a pub.

We are looking for someone to help who is strong and able and thoroughly practical.

We have 2 dogs - a terrier and a large white Shepherd (both rescued), a Lusitano horse and 10 hens!

We anticipate help for a... more inside

The eccentric couple owning the award winning garden have build this place up from a ruin within the last 45 years. It is now a mature wildlife and garden retreat for them and those of us who are lucky enough to help them.
Chris is not only an exquisite plant expert, but has also build several follies, sculptures and hide aways on the land creating an extraudinary place to be. Both of the owners, though in their late 70th, are outgoing, vibrant, and busy.

I have lived here as volunteer now since summer last year with my own little hut behind the bees in the orchard, but there are rooms in the house; its ideal for people with their own live in vehicles or we have some tucked away spaces if you prefer to be more away from the communal living. I am mainly responsible for the polly - tunnel and fruit cage and orchard, but there is plenty to do in all areas.

The work will be aspects of garden and woodland maintenance, but also taking part in building projects, tree houses, zip... more inside
