We are a Buddhist centre in rural Yorkshire, England, comprised of a 180 acre estate nested within a British National Nature Reserve. The centre is part of a worldwide organization that helps make Buddhist teachings available throughout the world. We are a small resident and volunteer community that regularly hosts Buddhist teachers, seminars, and workshops. This is a space of retreat, where meditation practitioners can undertake retreats of a few days or a few months. Our resident lama is in residence throughout the summer and fall to provide guidance and inspiration.

We partner with local and national conservationists and scientists to help care for our land, its unique variety of flora and fauna, and the surrounding moorland, which has undergone major revitalization efforts in the recent decades. A significant aspect of the centre is our dedication to developing environmental Buddhism within the UK.

The centre is an ideal place for anyone who is interested in learning ... more inside

Hello, we are a family living in the countryside near Glasgow (20 minutes by train and bus). We need help in the last week in September and the first week of October. We need help packing up our house as we are moving. The helpers will have their own room and access to the kitchen and WiFi and all home comforts. The work is all indoors although some gardening is available if you'd like. It's easy work and we will help you with what to do.
We're a nice easy going family and have had helpers stay with us before.
Food will be provided and we will help you to enjoy your stay in beautiful Scotland!

I am always looking for someone (or two) with basic landscaping skills, and basic carpentry skills. I enjoy having couples to stay, as they are a bit more independent. This summer I am looking for a couple (or singleton) to help me in the garden as I am having an outdoor dining room constructed and there will be some tidying up to do. There will also be a little interior decorating to do. I would supervise and work alongside you.

I had a very positive experience five years ago with my first HelpXer who in 10 weeks transformed
my garden from a builder's site into a lovely lawned gadren.Since then I have had a regular stream of marvellous young people.

I am a good cook. You will have a room and bathroom to yourself in my comfortable house. I am quite social and will include you in the social network in the area.

My house is a few miles from the coast, nature reserve etc and these are a short bike ride away. Yoxford is a charming village with 2 pubs, 2 good restaurants, and ... more inside

Private householders with lovely house in beautiful rural location in central Scotland looking for help in the home and garden for between 2 and 4 hours a day for 3 or 4 days a week for 4 weeks or more if agreeable, over the next few weeks. Helping 2 busy people with cooking, food shopping, some housework and looking after our 3 dogs.
We both work mostly from home - I am an accountant and Simon makes fly fishing rods. We are in our early 60s and enjoy the outdoors, travel and spending time with our children and grandchildren.
In exchange for help, we offer accommodation of a bright double bedroom with shower room next to bedroom and own sitting room, which is a sunny garden room with its own wood-burning stove.
Some meals may be shared or shared use of large kitchen. Non smoking and driver preferred.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THE PHOTOS ARE UPSIDE DOWN AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THIS. Even tried rotating the photos before uploading but always end up upside down whichever way they are uploaded??? Anyway hope you can mange by turning screen around. Photo of the farm in Wales is fine for some reason. It is the third photo and is not actually where you will be staying but it is possible to visit sometimes. The other photos are of the allotment and double room in Liverpool where you will be staying.

Double room available in cute three bedroom house. We have a large allotment near to the house where we grow organic vegetables. We also have a beautiful and historic mountain farm in the Snowdonia National Park which we visit occassionally now, it is a great place for a retreat to get away from everything and soak up the fresh air. We grow organic fruit for our own consumption but do not currently have any animals. We also have 23 acres of woodland to manage. It is not viable to... more inside

*** AUGUST helpers needed!!
At the moment we only have space for helpers who are willing to camp (bringing their own tent, sleeping bag etc) in exchange for just 2-3 hours work a day plus 2 days off a week. Do drop me a line if you are interested :) ***

Set on the edge of the pretty fishing village of Beer on Devon's south coast, this 39-bed Youth Hostel is in need of a willing helper over the coming months to help keep it looking it's best.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer food, but you will have full use of a kitchen to prepare and cook your own meals.

The work here at YHA Beer mainly comprises of 4-5 hours a day of cleaning (inc making beds) with some occasional gardening and painting, and with 2 days off a week.
It`s not particularly glamorous (can include a fair share of cleaning toilets!) but the reward of living in this lovely village just a 10 minute walk to the beach, I think, makes it well worthwhile :)

Whilst we only have one room in the staff fla... more inside
