Hi. I'm John.

I was previously a helper on Helpx while I travelled around the world in 2015/2016. I'm now a host and I'm looking for someone to help out around my house in Portlaw in County Waterford for up to 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week.

In August 2015 I left Ireland to embark on an 11 month round the world trip taking in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Croatia, Netherlands and Belgium before returning to Ireland in July 2016.

My house is quiet as I currently live on my own. The town of Portlaw itself is only 20 minutes from Waterford City. It is a small town of about 1,700 people. It is a relatively new town in Irish terms and was established around the year 1825. The town has a small supermarket, a small grocery shop, an historical center, a library, a pharmacy, a Chinese takeaway, two fast food takeaways, a new bistro which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Make sure we are a perfect fit for you and please read carefully - thank you.
We are looking for one person who is mature and responsible to help with our gardens and dogs from end of May to mid-September. The minimum stay would be 2 weeks. The tasks vary from garden maintenance such as clearing, weeding, edging lawns and dead heading to more specific tasks like repotting etc. We are currently doing some stone work in the garden - so some heavy lifting is needed. Also help with our 4 rescue dogs - walking and having fun!
It would be advisable to have your own transport as there is a lot of exploring to be done in West Cork and Kerry with great hikes and trails.
We can provide a bike for you.

The accommodation house is shown in the photo and includes comfortable, heated room with en-suite facilities and wifi. It is a separate building to the main house. We provide 3 meals a day - we are largely pescatarian but do use ethically sourced meat. There is also the opportunity for you... more inside
