Hi, we are John and Stephanie, semi-retired active hosts interested in history, art, poetry and folk music as well as farming. We are looking forward hosting friendly sociable volunteers so we can also learn about your life and culture.

Are you available to help us for a few weeks and learn more about our old-fashioned way of life?
Do you like horses and other animals? We need help with stable duties, field work, hedging, gardening and some housework. You will live in our home as part of the family which sometimes includes our son and elderly mother. In exchange for around 5 hours work per day (flexible) we offer full board and all meals are included. We cook good quality meals from basic ingredients and mostly buy locally sourced produce and are happy to cater for vegetarians as many of our meals are vegetarian. Please note we only accept non smokers. Our home is an unmodernised quirky Victorian farmhouse full of antiquity situated on the edge of a small farming village in... more inside

We're a creative, young, married couple who recently moved from Australia to live in regional England. We used to host helpx in Cairns, Queensland and had a great time hosting, so we thought we'd open up our home here too! We're looking for friendly conversation and light domestic help around our home in exchange for vegetarian/vegan meals, a bedroom and our company. We live in King's Lynn, in West Norfolk. Its a historical fishing town with lots of old buildings and beautiful surrounding villages/meadows. King's Lynn is about an hours drive to Peterborogh, Norwich and Cambridge, and only 25 minuets from the north Norfolk Coast.
Our house is a 1960's build mid terrace, walking distance to a cycle path that links to the town centre. We have two chihuahuas and are strict vegetarians (mostly vegan with the occasional exception to eggs)

Hello dog lovers.

We would love to welcome you to our home in the small but busy market town of Frome in Somerset (has won awards as the best small town in the UK). http://www.discoverfrome.co.uk/frome/
We have been hosting for a couple of years and have enjoyed meeting new friends from all over the world.

We have a big decorating project and would like to host 2 people who are experienced and good at decorating to help us during November 2019.

Our house in Frome is about 10 minutes walk from the centre and within walking distance of the cinema, the railway station, the leisure centre, the theatres and the countryside.

Frome is a small town with lots of markets/events/music and plenty of individual shops cafes and pubs. It has a strong alternative culture and is a great place to sit in a cafe, discover English cakes and watch the world go by!
There is plenty going on in the evenings if you are happy to go out and find it, or you can enjoy a more quiet life as we are cl... more inside

What makes it awesome?

In the Hertfordshire countryside just on the outskirts of London, Bhaktivedanta Manor, complete with its farmlands, beautiful gardens and temple is a real sanctuary for the soul. Open all year round to visitors and students of ancient wisdom, the temple offers a great experience with tours of the shrine, gardens and compassionate farm. Here are the rooms of the famous Hare Krishna guru Srila Prabhupada, to whom George Harrison gifted this iconic mock Tudor mansion. We have inspirational talks, yoga classes, mantra meditation, vegetarian cooking classes and various retreats.

A welcoming, vibrant and cheerful farm community set in the countryside just outside of London.
In additon to the main theological college, we have a farm of 100 acres with 60 cows and oxen, an 8 acre vegetable growing area, formal gardens, fruit orchards (modest size), hedges, small woodlands and bee hives. We grow naturally using cow manure fertilizer and we dont use pesticides or ... more inside

"La Bella Figura” or “making the best of what you have” is a phrase that best defines our approach. We are custodians of a beautiful home and farm and take a sympathetic, sensitive, and slow approach to restoration and farming. We started the project 10 years ago by replanting old hedgerows and woods, restoring ancient orchards and constructing a lake for wildlife. At the same time we researched how to tackle the farmhouse and it’s outbuildings using original materials such as lime plasters, breathable paints and elm. Bit by bit all the pieces came together, the foundations for the farm, a self sufficient small holding stocked with rare breeds more suitable to extensive rather than intensive farming and growing fruit and vegetables. Each decision we make is linked in some way, for example, the planting of wild flowers, lime trees and replanting of the orchards were all done with our honey bees in mind.

We have found ourselves increasingly interested in this approach and enjoy the... more inside
