We live in a big old Mill building with various nooks and crannies that people rent out for living, music, painting. My partner collects and restores old cars and tractors as well as attempting to keep up with the continued upkeep and gardening of the property. The property is on the river Exe and unfortunately floods at least once a year, but it is in a beautiful part of the world so that makes it worthwhile.

We would like someone to come and help us with general upkeep, gardening and repairs, in return you would get a caravan to live in and meals with us. You would also get the opportunity to be taken out and about - mainly to pubs - around the area.
I practice Martial Arts and BSL if this is an interest of yours.

Hi,

We live in a pretty village called Dunsford on the edge of Dartmoor national park. We try to grow as much veg as we can for ourselves aswell as sometimes selling it out of the gate. We are in the middle of the bus route between Exeter and Mortenhampstead on the Moor.

There are 4 permanent residents here. Its Pips place and also living here are Rory (son) and gilfriend Elsa (french speaking) ,and our friendly lodger, Paul. Elsa and I are 28 and 25 years old and work as a gardeners (and french teachers!). We have a vegetable patch and chickens and geese. In walking distance theres a wood, river and Dartmoor national park. I frequently travel to the coast with friends to go surfing / snorkeling / fishing I would be more than happy to include helpers in these activities. My mum takes our border collie walking on Dartmoor with a rambling group on Sundays.

We`d offer board and lodging in return for 4 hours of (enthusiastic!) work each day with a couple of day... more inside

A bustling place with lots going on! Two to four of us live here, and there are volunteers who live locally. We run a residential centre for courses and learning holidays, there`s a weekly community cafe, and a Yoga studio. We have 3 acres of garden, outbuildings and paddocks. Hens, ducks, Kune kune pigs, and a few sheep. Vegetables grown on raised beds and in a polytunnel. Would appreciate volunteers with building maintenance skills to help mend leaky roofs, make gates etc! Work is in the vegetable garden, early morning animal feeding, and mucking out. We often need help baking for our cafe. Help is also with general catering, cleaning, and other domestic duties. Always lots of washing up.

We can take helpers for short or long visits (if they are the right person/people!) We also have working weekends about once a month. We invite potential volunteers to look at our website before applying, and tell us why they have chosen us in particular.

I have recently moved to England and have an old Victorian house that needs a lot of loving restoration as it has not had much done to it for many years. As the spring is here Iím trying to get the garden planted out with summer vegetables, in new raised beds, and I am working in the house removing old paint and redecorating.
Weston Super Mare is on the coast, not far from the vibrant city of Bristol. Its an well known seaside town with some very old fashioned aspects such as the pier, promenade and a huge sandy beach, but it has had a lot of attention recently as the famous Dismaland Exhibition by Banksy was held there. The city of Bristol is one of the most innovative cities in the UK with Big universities, art galleries, cinemas, parks and is only a 20 minute train journey from Weston. It also has an international airport.
During the past 20 years I have been living in Spain where I often had Helpx workers staying with me, and I have been very happy with them, so I lo... more inside

Hi, Iím Fred. Iím 38 years old and Iíve been studying several foreign languages for a few years. I have low intermediate Spanish, French and Italian, and lower Russian.

Iíll happily host native speakers of these languages for 1-4 weeks at a time, in exchange for a few hours language practice per day. I can only host 1 person at any time.

I`m looking for easy-going, sociable, happy and open people who want to experience cultural Liverpool and who will want to get to know whoever is living in the house at the time.

You must be a native speaker of Russian, Spanish, French or Italian. If you`re a speaker of Russian, you`ll need to have a high level of English. If you`re a speaker of Spanish, French or Italian, it`s not so important.

Helpers will be required to help me with learning their mother tongue, but you will have plenty of free time. Language practice will be for approximately 2-3 hours each day. Even when we`re not practising, I would prefer to comm... more inside

Volunteers welcome for late September onwards who are interested in helping in the house with cooking, cleaning, ironing and laundry. Making rooms ready to receive guests.

I enjoy trying new food from around the world, so if you have any favourite recipes, please bring them along.

There will be some work in the garden, staying in my home in Birmingham. The work will be hands on, digging, planting, weeding, getting hedges under control. You need to know a little about gardening, and be able to use lawn mower and hedge trimmers etc.

There may be some furniture upcycling too, painting old furniture I got from the charity shop. I`m looking for people who can work fairly independently, and enjoy the work, and enjoy being creative within a general outline plan.

Some decorating and odd jobs around the house might be involved too, particularly when the weather is not great.

Food and accommodation in exchange for 4 hours work a day with 2 days off p... more inside

We are an off-grid community and market garden based in South Oxfordshire. About 1 hour by train from Oxford or London, our closest town is Reading.

We are a community of around 8 people living close to the land. Our main income is from our fossil fuel free vegetable growing co-operative, and we also keep pigs and poultry. We do green wood-working, low-impact building, foraging, hosting practical education sessions and lots of other land based stuff.

Visitors/volunteers can stay any length of time from one day to 3 months, A bit of cooking, washing up and wood collecting is expected of all residents and visitors and any extra work is based around what you would like to do.

Evening meals are usually eaten together, with breakfast and lunch self service. Accommodation is basic; either a shed or a tent will be available, with access to compost toilet and water on tap.
