"La Bella Figura” or “making the best of what you have” is a phrase that best defines our approach. We are custodians of a beautiful home and farm and take a sympathetic, sensitive, and slow approach to restoration and farming. We started the project 10 years ago by replanting old hedgerows and woods, restoring ancient orchards and constructing a lake for wildlife. At the same time we researched how to tackle the farmhouse and it’s outbuildings using original materials such as lime plasters, breathable paints and elm. Bit by bit all the pieces came together, the foundations for the farm, a self sufficient small holding stocked with rare breeds more suitable to extensive rather than intensive farming and growing fruit and vegetables. Each decision we make is linked in some way, for example, the planting of wild flowers, lime trees and replanting of the orchards were all done with our honey bees in mind.

We have found ourselves increasingly interested in this approach and enjoy the... more inside

The Presbytery is an old vicarage now used as our home with a large garden, tennis court, field and some woodland. We - Penny (now retired from working in our National Health Service) and Frank (retired from working in education) - are an older but active couple and we will welcome anyone to help us maintain the property (outside and inside). The garden and outside areas - especially around the tennis court (which may be used) and field need clearing of undergrowth and adjacent trees pruned back and needs general upkeep. Inside the house needs some decorating and other general maintenance work. Penny has some health issues and cannot tolerate cigarette smoke, so there cannot be smoking anywhere in the house.

The Presbytery is in the East Sussex countryside (classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty) and public transport is quite limited. However, we do have two bicycles that can be borrowed and there are beautiful walks nearby. We can reach the railway station in abo... more inside

Alert!! Very long listing!
We are keen green recyclers living in a large edwardian house (1904) We have had wonderful helpXers since summer 07 but the house and garden always needs more work!

We would like you to come initially for 2 weeks, to work in the house and garden and also to help with young foreign students who stay with us while they study at language school nearby. We need you to do the tasks that we don't have time to get done ourselves! You will mostly work alone or with another helper; you will eat with us and mealtimes are when you can chat and improve your English.

Hastings is an interesting town with many free activities going on but if your main goal is to learn English then maybe this isn't the right place for you as we are very busy and you will need to be happy working alone; this is why we suggest coming with a friend or partner although female helpers are welcome to come alone! I want to explain this as we have received negative comments from some very... more inside

We are a private house with bnb rooms, 7 tenanted cottages, extensive gardens with lakes and woodland. We need help with property maintenance, garden maintenance and general upkeep. We are in a hamlet 4 miles from the sea in a very desirable area of Dorset, the nearest town is 4 miles away. We have two very friendly dogs. No previous experience required but a practical knowledge of property maintenance and basic gardening is of major benefit. Being able to drive would be advantageous. Accommodation and meals can be provided, to be discussed. A basic understanding of English is essential but we are willing to help in any way we can. It is a very sociable busy area and would suit someone who is enthusiastic, appreciates nature and loves the countryside. We look forward to welcoming you.

We have a six week window for someone to help at the moment.

SPACE FOR A STAY FOR AN ENGLISH SPEAKING PERSON FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ASAP PLEASE! to help construct a shed, some outdoor painting and feeding wonderful friendly adorable wild boar pet pigs and three gorgeous dogs, o and a racehorse! nearly forgot!.

I run a small bed and breakfast here on the North Norfolk coastline, being located just half a mile from a sandy beach that you can walk to easily. I have a bike you can use but of course your own car would be a bonus to you.
I don't have children to contend with so am not looking for a built in baby sitter!
Very quiet and laid back here with lots of wildlife and natural stuff... no night clubs so you must be happy to accept that fact although there are two local pubs within walking distance and I have a tendency to enjoy a bottle of vodka on occasions or two.

TASKS ARE ONLY SUITABLE FOR A MALE APPLICANT AS YOU NEED MUSCLES ON OCCASIONS!

Four hours for five days per week, two whole free days at your choice in return for ... more inside

A 200 year old cotswold stone house located in a small village near Stroud. It has a good size garden on a slope with woodland above and is located in a conservation area within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty backing on to the Toadsmoor valley. The house is 25 mins walk from Stroud town centre and has recently undergone major refurbishment which is still ongoing. There are a few shops in the village as well as a pub nearby. The house is surrounded with the hills and countryside on your doorstep...great for forest walks and there are lovely lakes to swim in nearby.. English, Spanish and French is spoken. Helpers stay can camp in the garden in and share facilities like kitchen and bathroom with others in the house. We aim to work an average of 5 hours per day, 5 days p/week. I have a 1 year old baby daughter who lives with me part of the week and she's very easy going and sweet.
