We run a small estate and are looking for someone to stay 2/3weeks and help in the vegetable garden digging and planting and doing odd jobs eg repairing fruit cages, clearing fallen and planting new trees etc.or helping in the house. We live in a beautiful part of SW England and share our home with three Labradors and a cat and have two old ponies and chickens. You will have your own bedroom and bathroom and can choose to eat with us or use a separate kitchen. During June and July we host foreign students in our home where they learn English as Phoebe is a qualified TEFL teacher with 20 years experience. The homestay we are offering will include full board and lodging in exchange for 25 hours work a week and anyone wishing to improve their English will benefit from lots of opportunities to talk with me and my husband and our three children (26,24,20) when they are home from university/work. This is 43 acres of ancient semi natural woodland in the beautiful Usk Valley in South Wales. I started with a degree in rural resource management, and spent time in my twenties as a green wood chair maker. I later worked tree surgery and traditional woodland management with people living and working in woodland. For the last few years I have made my livelihood from constructing timber frame buildings and building tree houses. The project is born from a childhood dream to find a way to be in the woods, I am now using traditional management techniques and progressive permaculture, to promote and facilitate sustainable rural living. This is a pristine piece of woodland, rich in ecological diversity.

The aim is to use the land to educate people about the importance of connecting with the earth and sustainable woodland management/ livelihoods .

I have managed the land here for 12 years. I built a traditional timber frame barn from Douglas fir that stands where the trees it's made ... more inside

Help is required for a community-run project to create an interactive garden for children (two years & above), teenagers, young people & adults but primarily for small children. The Garden project is to be available alongside an Arts Council funded intergenerational ceramic course. At the core of this project is a unique firing method of the down draft stove pipe kiln, for the production of pottery wood-fired bowls with woven willow rims. The garden needs to be inspiring and safe. Ideas include under-two years old's area, firing & cooking places a buried treasure gifting & sharing adventure and chalk boards and white-boards for drawing. There is a live willow arch already established. The building of a small children's den/cave for traditional cave painting with a roof-feature for interactive play and creating. There will be a play-shed with a magic carpet space, mosaics & pebble paths as well as vegetable, flower and herb growing areas in raised beds. Mainly horse work, cleaning and exercising available, but must not be frightened of animals, preferably a rider. We also have some maintenance work needed, for someone who can do fencing, joinery work, and painting doors etc.
If someone can do basic engineering work that would be fantastic, but not absolutely necessary.
This is a beautiful part of the UK to visit or live. One Kiwi stayed for 16 years and went home with a wife and two children, as did an Aussie
We need someone now.

Hi I am looking for a HelpX to start in March.

I own and run a schools hatching programme using eggs from my champion rare breed hens. The chicks come back to my 6 acre smallholding with fabulous views on the northern edge of Sheffield and the Peak District. I run this with my three children aged 20, 19 and 12. We also have rare breed sheep and goats, three horses, four dogs, two cats and two turkeys - so lots of interesting animals! You will need to love animals here!

VERY IMPORTANT:.....I would like someone who has initiative and can work from a list and be self motivated! I cannot always work with you, due to other work commitments, on the smaller jobs once you have been shown them.

Also someone who is used to animals and wishes to learn more about their husbandry would be ideal. Please DON'T come if you are scared of any of the animals we have here! The welfare of the animals is vital here and they come first, so that ethos is essential.

I would like someone to do... more inside

*** WE NEED SOMEBODY FROM LATE MARCH FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS, PREFERABLY LONGER ***

Join our lovely team. Make new friends. Discover Edinburgh.

We are a friendly and relaxed wee hostel right on the historical Royal Mile in the very centre of Scotland`s stunning and lively capital city. We`re one of the smallest but also cosiest and friendliest hostels in town. And we`re smack bang in the middle of all the sights and our favourite bars are 5 around minutes walk away (some even less).
I think we would describe ourselves as a relaxed, easy-going kind of bunch rather than a crazy party hostel. We like nights with a drink or two and some banter in front of the fire place. But there are also weekly events in cooperation with our bigger sister hostels, like a Ceilidh (Scottish dance), our Pub Crawl and Ghost tours.

We`re looking for someone who likes to be around people from all over the world and wants to help us keep our wee hostel clean and tidy. A friendly atmosphere is ver... more inside

We have a lovely small holding which is half broadleaved woodland, half pasture, with a stream running right by the house, 2 ponds, large veggie garden, orchard, greenhouse, sheep and dogs! (See photos below of a 2011 help-xer with one of our lambs and 2013 help-xers cleaning out the pond!)

We would like help with woodland management, gardening, preparation and maintenance of grazing land, weeding, planting, harvesting, general maintenance, perhaps light decorating, ironing when it's raining....and whatever crops up! There may occasionally be some work with our sheep and sometimes looking after our adorable dogs! We expect some help around the house such as washing up after dinner and perhaps cooking the occasional meal.

We offer accommodation in a refurbished 16th century cottage which is connected to the main house (see photo of room below). This will mean help-xers have their own sleeping & bathroom area tho' occasionally we may have other guests staying. You will s... more inside

I'm looking for someone who can help with moving house.
You will be getting room and board in exchange for helping pack and unpack during the period of 16/03 - 24/03 (flexible).
I know this is short notice, but I only just thought of trying to find someone.
If you have handyman skills, all the better!
