We are a 4th generation family farm based at the foot of the Pentland hills. We are predominantly a pasture farm (sheep, beef cattle and pigs) and also have a certain amount of woodland. We rent out a number of our farm cottages as another arm of our business. Currently we are looking for help on the farm and in the garden to assist us with a diverse range of jobs. Those jobs range from grass cutting, hedge trimming, weed wacking, woodland management, fencing care, animal husbandry and all sorts of other general maintenance.

We are providing self-contained heated accommodation with two bedrooms, a kitchen and utility room, living room/studio and bathroom. We will be organising meals on a case by case basis. We as a family are excited to share several meals a week with our guests but we also respect personal space so provisions for food or a weekly organic food box (csa) can also be arranged.

We expect our guests experience to be a rich exchange of knowledge. We consider ours... more inside

This is a lovely family home situated in the stunning west coast of Scotland. Ben Nevis is 40 minutes away and Glencoe 30 minutes. My husband and I moved here 2 years ago and have 3 children aged 1, 2 and 4. The farm is a hill sheep farm with some cattle but is tenanted, however the surrounding grounds need a lot of TLC (tender loving care). We are in a rural part of the world, in fact Argyll is commonly know as the outdoor capital of the UK. We have amazing mounteneering and skiing on our door step. We have a large twin bedroom with two armchairs, a little box room next to it and a bathroom shared with our little terrors next to that. The Internet is good. Ideally we would like you to do 5 hours a day Monday to Friday. Mostly manual outdoor work. Clearing sheds, strimming, log splitting and gardening. We can insure you on our car, a driver is a must! The nearest shop is 3 miles away. We have lovely cafes and pubs with in a mile or two.

Looking for help insulating a building on our croft using straw clay (light earth) infill. May have other jobs as well.

If you have some experience in stonemasonry and construction we could have another job for you helping to rebuild a small, early 19th century traditional croft cottage. We are offering a year of free rent in the cottage to the right person who will take on this job and get the cottage wind and watertight.

Easy going place to stay. Croft is entirely off grid so mod cons are few and far between. We have a propane hot shower, compost toilet etc.

About 4 hours a day with 2 days off a week is all we ask and we are flexible. We provide 2 meals on working days which will be vegetarian or pescetarian. Can provide for vegans too.

We have a small touring caravan available for accomodation. If you're an artistic type the caravan can be your canvas and you could paint the caravan and decorate the inside.

We keep rare breed geese, ducks, chickens, cows and a pony... more inside

Hi, We are looking for one person or a couple who would like to help in our small hotel.
We live in the most beautiful part of Scotland with many outdoor activities, close to Stirling and not too far from the cultural cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Experience in bar, housekeeping hotel and esp help with cooking breakfasts would be an asset, but not essential.
Callander is a very friendly town and you would make friends very quickly.
As we are coming into quieter tourist times you would have plenty of time to explore Scotland and have a base to come back too.
We unfortunately have been let down at the last minute by a potential helper so are looking for someone to start immediately with no set finish dates, the longer the better for us. I hope to hear from you soon.
Many Thanks
Victoria

This is a farm-based education organisation. Our story is the 'shieling' - a tradition where folk went up to the hills with the livestock every summer. Schools, teachers and local community visit our site to learn about the shieling and through it the Highland landscape, heritage and sustainable lifestyles. We are looking for volunteers to help us run our small farm (croft) and support our educational provision. You will be able to help restore traditional buildings, build new sustainable educational buildings, work in our micro-dairy, and garden, as well as keeping the educational facilities clean and organised (it doesn't take long for kids to make a mess!). You won't be expected to deliver education, but will be able to support our staff and take part in learning - from Gaelic songs and stories, to dairying and archaeology. You will have accommodation in our staff house, with your own room and shared washing and cooking rooms. Some weeks we have lots of visitors and some we d... more inside

Hi.
I'm 35 year old easy going guy that wouldn't mind some help sometimes :)
I live on a remote peninsula in Scotish Highlands.
The peninsula is accessible by boat or one can walk in along the shore (8 miles)
There's some spectacular mountains around if you feel like climbing.
Population is around 80 people- mainly old hippies that ran away from civilization in the 60's . People obtain their electricity from windmills locally made and solar panels. No shop or a pub on the peninsula.
Soon the place that I'm renting now will be sold and I will find myself in an urgent need to build some sort of a dwelling to be able to stay on this beautiful peninsula for a couple more years. I'm thinking about building it from pallets and from any random materials that will be at hand- very nice open project for people with some basic joinery skills. Pallets need to be obtained from the local town and ferried across the loch on a small boat. I would also would also need some help with putting u... more inside
