Accomodation provided on a short-term basis in a bungalow in south Connemara on the shores of Galway Bay in exchange for housework and cooking.

The location is very special, on the Wild Atlantic Way in beautiful countryside near the sea and half an hour from the vibrant city of Galway. It is in the heart of a Gaeltacht or Irish-speaking area - I speak four languages, including English and Irish. Spiddal village is nearby, as is a beautiful native woodland and river, and the wild bogland. It would suit a self-contained, quiet and independent person who likes the country life.

Spiddal village has several shops and pubs, a pharmacy and other amenities. It is a lively place, especially during the summer, and there is music in the pubs several evenings a week, including traditional Irish music and more contemporary songs. The vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Galway with its thriving arts and music scene is half an hour by bus with a reasonably frequent service.

Not Hosting at the present time. I live in a very rural area on the north west coast of County Donegal. The village consists of a pub, post office and shop and the nearest town, Dungloe, is 6 miles distant. I have 9 rescue dogs and a number of cats still living here from my time in animal rescue. The cats live in separate accommodation to the house but my dogs are all house dogs. I also have a Shetland pony. The main duties are helping to exercise the dogs and spending time with the pony and cleaning out the stable. You will have plenty of time to yourself to explore the numerous beautiful beaches here in Donegal. This hosting would suit a person who likes the outdoors and of course loves animals. I can only cater for vegetarians. The accommodation is a double room with double bed and all meals supplied , there is also wifi.

Lesley was a homeopath, Three Principles Facilitator, who works alongside Fergus and together they have created a bright, warm, homestead.
There is always work to be done. We have a small wood, poly tunnel, gardens, on going building work etc.
We go about life in a careful considered way. We are both 60ish in age.
If you come and stay with us you will be well fed and have dry comfortable accommodation. We are rural with no public transport. We are not the most regular people in the world because of the nature of our work, so flexibility is good. My uncle Jack is looking for a helpxer for his farm in county Limerick. He lives on main road from Limerick to Cork not far from Caherconlish. He is a laid back guy who does his work slowly. Ideal for a language student interested in ordinary life in rural Ireland. Jack is a generous guy so you will be looked after well. He does not require a helper with much experience. There is good bus connections nearby for discovering other parts of Ireland at weekends, but you're also welcome to stay around. If you have any questions give him a call or send us an email.

Greetings fellow travellers!

My name's Daniel, and I've been using HelpX as a volunteer since 2012. I recently purchased a hundred-year-old stone cottage in County Sligo on the west coast of Ireland. I'm now looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist me in restoring it and developing the one acre of land into a permaculture smallholding.

The cottage (pictured) needs a great deal of work before it's habitable, so accommodation will be in a small caravan on site, or, if you're feeling adventurous, a private tent. You will need a willingness to live a simple outdoor life for the duration of your stay. There is electricity on site for phone and laptop charging, as well as mobile internet, but it's not what you'll be used to in a city. Water is gathered by hand from a natural spring, and the nearest neighbour is a kilometre away (apart from the mooing variety).

The work will be varied, depending on the weather and your area of interest. Don't worry about a lack of expertise. ... more inside
