Our tourist park is located 13km from the town of Batchelor and approximately one and a quarter hour drive from Darwin. It is situated in a rural area on the banks of the Upper Finnis River. The park has lush tropical gardens which require regular maintenance and we are often extending or rejuvenating various areas. We also have a lot of general maintenance jobs that happen each year i.e. painting, spring cleaning and general labouring jobs. We would be happy to provide meals and basic accommodation in exchange for 4 hours work a day.

Heritage listed Fogg Dam, built in 1956 for the Humpty Doo Rice Project, is a Territory Treasure enjoyed by many locals, a paradise for bird watchers and photographers and known internationally by biologists due to ongoing study and publications by Sydney University since 1985. It’s the only wetland in the Top End accessible by road all year but a study by Charles Darwin University in 2010 predicted that it would completely close unless an active management regime was introduced to clear vegetation.

The second hand weed harvester is one component of the management program. Originally owned by Palmerston Council, it was purchased last year by Parks & Wildlife and Friends of Fogg Dam Inc.

Parks & Wildlife are seeking expressions of interest from anyone interested in helping to drive the weed harvester. Applicants needs to be able to:
• multi-task with skills similar to a tractor/grader operator
• be conscious of OH&S

I require a female, aged between 24-40 to help with household duties such as cleaning, cooking and laundry. As I am a single parent I would require you to take responsibility of the household on some occasions when I am away overnight due to work commitments. My 13 year old son also lives with me and I would like you to be supportive of him when I am not at home, though he is capable and mostly self sufficient. A background with children or education would be great. As we live out of town a drivers license and your own vehicle would make life easier.
