Helper needed May 2018. We may host a very few times each year. We are mostly interested in meeting foodies and people interested in viticulture. We are interested in cultural exchange: learning about children education and food habit in your country. Cooking one of your favorite recipes would be great. This is a tiny wine estate, in the build up stage. You can help us with daily tasks - weeding, pruning, planting, labelling, cooking, baby sitting, writing blogs, making videos, taking pictures, creating content. (3 days / 6 mornings/afternoons a week).

Our place is perfect if you travel with your bike and wish to cycle around (either road bike or mountain bike). We can host you in a separate appartment upstairs from our's.

The three of us inhabit a farm building in a quiet 1600-inhabitant-township, half an hour drive from Strasbourg and Germany. The place can be reached with public transportations and more easily by car or by bike. We do not work on sundays. We'll provide food... more inside

I bought this farm a couple of years ago but life has meant that I am living in Germany for a few years before a permanent return. However we visit a few times a year for a month at a time to carry on the renovation works.
If you want to improve your building and woodworking skills (my profession) this will be the place to come and learn! I could also do with help getting the garden into a usable state.
Get in touch and I can let you know how things are going and if it is possible for you to visit during our time at the house. (July/August 2018 next visit)
I speak English, German and some French.
A word to the pictures...
That's me with the long hair repairing a roof whilst I was Helpxing myself last year. In the background is a stone arch I rebuilt. The rest are from me and my 'new' house (it looks a lot better already)!

Hello,

Thank you for visiting our page. We are a couple in our thirties (Franck and Chloé) and we live in this traditional farm from the 19th century, at the feet of "Parc regional des vosges du nord", in a small typical alsacian village, Schalkendorf.
Accessible by car and train (25 minutes from Strasbourg), the place is nice and quiet. We have a cat, chickens, a German shepherd and a Cane Corso and 2 ecological permaculture garden.

We are in an ecological renovation process and will be happy to share our experience with travelers...
We are close to nature and most of the meals are vegetarian or vegan.
We work on:
- 100L micro brewery
- An organic wood oven food truck that we are setting up now (May 2018).
- Permaculture garden
- Eco renovation of the house

The place will be an artisanal, touristic and artistic farm with permaculture gardening. If you are interested, feel free to contact us. We have everything to sleep and eat and we work in a good atmosphere.... more inside

Need help for improving my English. So only native English speaker helpers. (Exception possible if you can convince me you speak English nearly as a native speaker). My English isn't that bad, I don't need a qualified teacher (although that may help) : your main work will be to speak with me at least 90 minute everyday and correct my grammar and other mistakes and help me find my words.

You'll also be responsible for cleaning the appartement too, but since I am single with no child or animal, that won't be much work.

So up to 1h English conversation in the morning (mon-fri) and you'll be free at 9h30 in the morning (or earlier) until evening (and then some English conversation in the evening), on week-end only some English conversation in the afternoon or evening, but that might happen whilst I show you the city, so basically no real or difficult work. I'm offering this as a way to socialising / meet interesting people, with added benefit of improving my langage skill :)

I... more inside

Lucie and I are both working as teachers, part-time. We are open-minded tolerant people, meat may or may not be in the fridge, no smoking in the house. wifi/RJ45 yes, but the data rate is poor out here in the countryside.
Our old farmhouse has view over the rhine valley to the black forest, located in a little village close to the hills of the vosges.
We can use help in and around the house, just as well as in the garden and orchard. Since we have several remodeling projects, mechanical, remodeling or building skills are welcome, but not required. You can learn by helping me. And it already helps a lot, if someone takes care of the cooking. The last helper made us happy with his piano passion. Any art project, murals, installations, I am open for ideas.
In fall we harvest walnuts and use them for bakery. Fall is also the time to find porcini in the nearby forests. We dry them, just as the apples and pears from the orchard. In winter we cut trees and make firewood. In the summer ... more inside
