Come and join us!!

Willing hands, willing hearts!
We form a small community of people with a common vision of peaceful living and we're delighted to offer free accommodation in return for 14 hours work a week and food is not provided.

The site is set in a beautiful natural environment a few hundred metres from the small village of Montolieu, known as the Book Village. Montolieu has roughly 850 inhabitants and is only 15 Km from Carcassonne, famous for its double-walled medieval city and the Canal du Midi. Montolieu is situated between Toulouse (large cultural University city, good for exhibitions) and the sandy beaches of Narbonne (on the Mediterranean coast).

There is light building and maintenance work and we are looking for help with our vegetable permaculture garden as well as other gardening jobs. The atmosphere is informal, creative and relaxed.

We urgently need help in organic vineyard, olive tree care, cactus planting. We are keen to find people interested by pedal power, sun frugal technology, wild plants recipes, impact-free building, wood work etc.
This is a project that started in 2012, is an attempt to bring degrowth into practice: consume less, produce less and share more. We are a community of people who have chosen to adopt a life of voluntary simplicity. The idea is to ‘degrow’ in terms of economic greed, resource consumption, social inequality and destruction of ecosystems. Instead, we believe in growing our minds and hearts, and looking at the world differently. It is also a place to facilitate the exchange of ideas, undertake degrowth actions across borders, create ‘frugal innovation’ and discover and encourage farmers’ and craft persons’ know-how.

My name is Emmanuel, I am living in a raw food community where we do permaculture.
I am graduated in naturopathy. I have been helping on organic farms during my travels in Australia, Brazil, Asia ...

The land is about 9 hectares where we slowly start to plant fruit trees and vegetables in the spirit of permaculture.
We have some figs trees, plums, apricots, peaches, persimmons, cherry trees, almonds, grapes..., some of them are still young some others just starts to give fruits.

I need help in the orchard, for taking care of the baby trees, planting new trees, and sometimes other works.
When I work in the orchard I like to take my time to feel a good connection between me and the nature in the garden. There are some beautiful grasshoppers, wild birds, gekos, wild edible plants.

I will be very happy to share my knowledge in permaculture and to receive your opinion and share your experience.

There are many rooms that can accommodate groups or single people for holida... more inside
