Hello and Welcome to NZ,
I am now booked with helpers till mid April.

I built this eco-house from earth bricks and natural timbers, because I wanted a healthy, relaxing environment.
It's on a 17 acre (6.7 hectare) paradise looking onto native bush, located in the Bombay Hills, about 60 km south of Auckland CBD and 12km from the bus stop or the nearest shop.

I've studied Organic Horticulture and grow our food that way, living a holistic, healthy lifestyle. There's avocado, lemon, lime, mandarin, banana, macadamia trees, as well as fresh vegetables and herbs.

Personally I eat an "O" blood type diet including meat, without grains and dairy, but I can buy them for you. Please tell me your food needs as I want you to be happy.

Mature helpers who speak English are welcome, so they can follow instructions to work on their own, and have enough life experience to see what needs to be done and tidy up as they go.
I like to have people around me who are conscious and conscientio... more inside

**** Availability 9th April to 26th April 2020 (2.5 weeks) ********

We prefer couples or two people traveling together. We require 4 hours a day gardening and sometimes housekeeping but this leaves you free to have a job or explore Auckland too.

We are a young family (Emma, Andrew, and four boys Albert (9) George (7) Henry (3) and baby Arthur 9 months.

We live in, Oratia, West Auckland and are looking to offer a homestay close to the centre of Auckland and also close to the world famous West Coast beaches, Piha and Bethalls. We are nestled in the foothills of the Waitakere ranges on a private acre big section. We are surrounded by native bush and get woken each morning to the sound of the Tuis singing in our Kowhai trees.

We are close to a train station which takes you directly into the CBD and the heart of Auckland City - the best of both worlds we think. Its good though if you have a car.

You have your own room and privacy to stay in and offer full board in terms o... more inside

*** March 17: Due to COVID-19 we are not currently hosting travellers. Thanks :) ***

We are a family with 3 young kids who are homeschooled (unschooling/life learning) and live on a 1 acre property in semi-rural North/West Auckland. We moved here 6 years ago to get away from the city, have the aim of living in a more sustainable way and getting more involved in our community. We are establishing our orchard and have about 20 fruit/nut trees, berries and vegetable gardens. We eat mostly plant-based/vegan. With a young family, our time for gardening is limited so if you join us, we would love some help around the section tidying up and re-planting and entertaining the kids.

Our area is beautiful! Just 15 minutes to the rough black sand beaches of the West Coast or 20 minutes to the placid golden beaches of the east. We are close to some great tramping tracks or walks, sculpture gardens, waterfalls and parks.

We would like to invite a couple/two friends into our home to ... more inside

Very central location close to Ponsonby Road, parks and supermarkets. Stay with me (owner) and one border collie (dog). Attractive renovated house and garden. Free WiFi. I have one spare room for a male visitor who is helpful, non-smoking, clean and tidy - and who wants to enjoy easy access to central Auckland and explore its neighbourhoods. If you don't read this, or match these criteria, kindly don't apply because I won't reply and you are wasting your time. Note for Helpers: I probably won't consider your request to stay if you put almost nothing about yourself on your profile - so I recommend you make some effort so potential hosts can know something about you before you apply. After all, the host profile usually has a lot of information, photos and some reviews - you should supply that as well!!

Light duties might include regular housework, ironing a few shirts, odd jobs around the garden or small projects. Since I don't exactly run a farm, I do expect you to adapt to our r... more inside

Overview:

We are a Tibetan Buddhist Centre that welcomes HelpX volunteers interested in learning more about meditation, Buddhism & the spiritual life. Jobs are mainly cleaning & gardening. We offer accommodation in our caravan or dorm and free attendance at regular classes & meditations. Volunteers are responsible for their own food - but are welcome to also use the veggies in the veggie garden.

We are a Registered Charitable Trust and rely on volunteers and donations. We do not have a large budget and are unable to provide food money to short-term volunteers. This is really a place for those that wish to learn more about Buddhism, live in our community and offer service for a short period (1 - 3 weeks).

Living at a Buddhist Centre need to respect the Lay Buddhist Precepts during stay (ex. no killing, no lying, no stealing, no taking intoxicants, etc.) & be respectful of Centre residents. 4 good hours of work per day, 2 days off per week. Length of stay: minimum 1 week, ma... more inside
