We are a home-schooling family with 8 children, 5-6 still at home, 4 of them school-age. Both parents came from Germany as backpackers, and met here, so our home language is German. Our lifestyle block is home to 2 goats, 6 geese, a flock of domestic ducks, between 30 and 40 hens, and of course many wild birds, rabbits and the many tiny creatures of fields, woods and duck-pond. An old apple, apricot and peach orchard and a young walnut forest are also part of our little paradise. Amazingly, though situated just off SH1, our place affords a cosy sense of privacy, as it nestles behind an old pine-tree shelter belt and is lined with a row of poplar trees along the rest of its border. The township of Amberley is 5 min away by car or 1 hour by foot, where you can do all essential shopping, go to the bank, petrol station, gym, second hand shop or hairdresser. Rangiora, the next larger centre of North Canterbury, is 20 min away, and central Christchurch 40 min.

We're situated on the slopes of Mt Grey and are also adjacent to a large forest. We operate as a B&B and our helpers are given our B&B rooms with all of their facilities, plus meals and free limited Wi-Fi access in exchange for 4-5 hours work a day. This is currently our quiet season so we need to get the house, land and garden ready for summer. We are looking for a couple to help us with gardening, farm maintenance work and in inclement weather general house cleaning. If you can handle a chainsaw we'd be happy, but it's not an issue if you can't. We cater for all diets as we have first hand knowledge of food intolerances. We have a gym, are close to nature trails and beaches and are just 15 minutes from Amberley.

We are looking for 2 strong people to help us now. September 2018.We are cutting and laying carpet under some small trees and will replant the area with more trees! It will be fairly hard work, if you are interested in helping out we would love to hear back from you. Please contact me now.

We have a small lifestyle farm with all the usual animals, horse, cows, goats, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, birds, fish.....
We breed Dexter cattle and Angora goats. We machine milk two Jersey cows for the house milk and to feed either calves or pigs. My horse is retired, aged 24, but still loves to be ridden gently down the road.
There are just the two of us here now, sometimes we have international exchange students who go to the local school as well.
I would love help to get all the odd jobs finished around the property. There is always weeding the vegetable garden, fixing a fence, planting some trees or cutting and burning the horrible prickly gorse hedges!
Accommodation and meals ar... more inside

As the cottage is no longer available, accommodation is now offered in the main house -guest wing with double bed, own en suite and private outside sitting area. All meals provided in return for 4 to 5 hours work per day.

We have a working deer farm but at present, the main duties would be around the house - domestic cleaning, some tidying in the garden and whatever else needs doing at the time. We have three very friendly dogs who are happy to go for a walk too.

Mt Thomas is nearby if you are interested in tramping.

We can meet Helpers coming by bus to Rangiora or Woodend.
