One acre paradise on the Otago Peninsula, close to wildlife attractions, peninsula walks and beautiful wild beaches with pure white sand. We have extensive veggie and cottage gardens, chook gardens (over 50 poultry) and milking sheep. 120 year old character villa with 2 bedrooms available at the moment with a king single and two single beds which can be moved together.

Meals are provided but if you want to make your own meals you can use kitchen facilities to make own meals with basics provided and fresh produce as available.

There is a bus service to Portobello but own transport is an advantage if you want to explore the area. We have a couple of bicycles and a kayak.

We work our land in a sustainable way to provide vegetables year round. The chickens help to improve the soil and clear the weeds and produce eggs!
There is plenty of tidying in the gardens and chicken pens. Weather is unpredictable so placemenrs are weather and work dependent. Work expected: about 3 -4 ho... more inside

Hi
We are looking for a home help from mid Nov - mid Dec.

Jobs include looking after our two girls (5 and 7years), cleaning and general housework, and cooking some meals. We also have an old dog who would love some regular walks.

Hours would be variable but no more than 20 hours per week. No weekend work.

We live in beautiful Wanaka in Central Otago. We have had a number of helpx Helpers before.

In exchange we will provide accommodation, food and a welcoming environment!

Look forward to hearing from you. :)

Kia Ora all we are Jo & Rusty, our property is on Riverbank Road in Wanaka, nestled in 7.5 acres split between our yurt accommodation businesses- Oasis & personal use.

Alongside our businesses we have 7.5 acres of land on which we're continuing to develop into usefulness through installing fencing & irrigation, growing & planting trees & vegetables & other ideas as they crop up!

Currently our main "help" roles involve mainly gardening, landscaping & general property maintenance, plus wood chopping,

Some cleaning and general jobs are often on the cards & if you have any trade skills or experience - carpentry, building etc then there's plenty of jobs with a bit more flair that we can work on together.

We have a fabulous house-bus and a house-truck on our property as our helper accommodation, both are great private spaces with their own fireplaces, kitchens, showers, bedrooms and lounge area and use an external composting toilet.

We generally host couples, but still t... more inside

Hi all you lovely helpers - we won't be hosting anyone until after January 15 2020
We are developing a permaculture garden and orchard.
At the moment we are terracing the large part of the section with brick walls and steps built with whatever recycled materials come to hand - a very long term project which needs constant help from our wonderful helpers.
Another job that we are hoping to get help with is building a small shed out of pallets - so any of you crafty carpenter types out there would be especially welcome.
We are also developing a fernery and planting out native hedges - so there are fantails and keruru in abundance. Though the development is sometimes hard work, it`s creative and fun. We are getting there but we could do with a bit of help from strong fit people whose knees can handle walking up and down a steep garden.
We also have work repairing and painting garden furniture and deck etc.

There are lots of great walks around the area, and buses to town are r... more inside

Our home is warm and comfortable with great views of the hawkdun range and the Naseby Forrest.

We are a happy family of four living near the beautiful mountains and lakes of Otago.

We have four beautiful dogs and lots of animals that need caring for. Many of which have been orphaned and hand reared so are very friendly.

It's really important to us that you are prepared to have fun, interact with our children and love and respect animals.

Things that we have learnt from having helpers stay in our home:
*We do not enjoy having visitors constantly on their devices/phones in our living area and encourage you to make the most of the beautiful lakes and walks on your time off.
* We apologise for not speaking your language and would like you to please make efforts to speak English when in our company
*Food is incredibly expensive and we will feed you well. We do expect you to ask if you want to help yourself to anything other than what is offered

We also run our cabinet making business 'Wanaka Furniture design' from home.

We ask for 4 hours work a day wood sp... more inside

We have had a lifestyle block for the last six years and want to make ourselves semi self sufficient. We are intending to have an Organic garden with composting and worm farm which we have started. We have also started breeding chickens, also bantams. Donald works 45 hours a week and I am unable to do any heavy work due to back surgery. we have a 3 bedroom home with plenty of room. We are looking for people who are interested in gardening and renovations, inside and out. We are in the process of making our fish pond bigger and trying to get on top of the vegetable garden, there is plenty of painting to do and a deck to build off the front of the house. We have two dogs 3 cats, and as I used to work as an Auxiliary Officer for the NZSPCA in Oamaru, most of our animals are rescues. We are very flexible with stays, from a couple of days to a few weeks. The lakes up to mount cook are not far from here, and a lot of camping areas are also close. We are 10/12 Km north of Oamaru 1.1/2 hou... more inside
