Feb 2018 Update: need a pair of helpers for dates in late March to second week April, again late April and early June. Strongly prefer a couple or two friends sharing. We cannot really accommodate helpers coming on their own.
The heart of this rural smallholding is a renovated, traditional stone cottage, built in 1758 and located in south County Down, roughly between Belfast and Dublin. Situated in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains and only twenty minutes from the Irish Sea, the farm sits on a 2 acre site which is given over to an exotic arboretum, orchard, native woodland and an organic vegetable garden, including a forty-foot polytunnel. Though the property is fairly rustic, all amenities are here: you will want for nothing, including high-speed wireless throughout. HelpX accommodation is in a nicely heated traditional stone cottage, complete with two beautiful, tuned upright pianos! HelpX tasks include all the usual organic gardening jobs, as well maintenance of the trees... more inside

I run a small accommodation venue, with large garden for vegetables and chickens. On the same plot of land is my own cottage, with some spare rooms. I am hoping to find a suitable person(s) to help with general maintenance, some joinery, garden work, and vegetables. I need assistance with maintenance, cleaning accommodation venue and general house work in my own cottage. What I do here is small scale. I work as a full time artist and am away from the venue now and again. Happy to supply food and accommodation and good introduction to the area. Looking for reliable and flexible person who can act on his/her own initiative. Might need some one over xmas and into the new year.

Beautiful and viable farm of 150acres grass and woodland. Solar PV is used for most energy needs.
The main priority is care and well being of our free range chickens. Tasks are not arduous and consist of bedding rest areas, checking fresh food and water and allowing access outdoors during daylight hours. Paddocks are fenced to keep out predators and foxes. Occasional maintenance of hedgerows and fencing will also be needed.
Couples and people traveling together are welcome.
Very good public transport to Dublin, Belfast, and all parts of Ireland. Accommodation is a fully heated 2 bedroom chalet with free WiFi and TV. Bicycles provided.

Help required now to help some house work and some farm work. Our farm is in a very rural mountainous area, great for strong walkers, there is also the Glenariffe National forest Park beside us. There will be some gardening to do as well as keeping the grounds tidy and lots of weeding in the vegetable garden. There will be work helping to do fencing , painting, striming the grass and cut lawns with the lawn mower. We are a member of the Northern Ireland food certification chain. The welfare of our animals is of the utmost importance. The position would suit helpers wishing to gain knowledge of how we farm and how to run a B & B in this mountainous region of Ireland and to improve their english. We prefer longer stays but sometimes a short period may suit as well and please note GOOD BASIC English is required and must be able to prepared to write down instructions and follow them.
