ABOUT US:
We are a family of 11, 9 siblings, living in our natural-built cordwood home and working our 50 acre homestead in the upper peninsula of Michigan. We support ourselves with an online Etsy shop where we sell rustic wedding items, toys and gifts. We range in age from 30 - 11, with most of us in our 20's. We've been raised with big gardens, lots of land and animals--yep, living the good life! We believe in a life that is peaceful, abundant, natural, wholesome and fun; a place to be truly happy and deeply satisfied. We have a lot of ideas and projects planned for our space of love this summer--always a work in progress! We work hard and play hard, though not always in that order ;). We make sure we leave plenty of time for volleyball, swimming, music, good food, board games, bike rides, and bonfires on the beach. And though we're not short of hands, we thought it would be fun to share our summer with others who would enjoy disappearing into the middle of nowhere to work and p... more inside

Hello,

I am offering a 550 sq ft cottage house, with bathroom and kitchen in exchange for helping me around my property 25 hours a week. I can likely offer a meal per day. Expecting that you can handle food otherwise. This can also be discussed. I would prefer 2 friends or a couple.

I mostly need help with moving heavy items, organizing, small repairs, painting, landscape work.
Name your skills and there is likely work for you to do!

COVID 19 is making some things extra difficult. If you are in need of a place to shelter in place in Michigan. This would be an ideal situation for you.

When you respond, you will first be in contact with my daughter, Giovanna. My name is Lucy. Look forward to hearing from you!

***** Due to COVID-19, we are not able to accept guests at this time. Thank you for understanding, be well and be safe. ***** The home is located in a wonderful area of Chicago where Noble Square, West Loop, and River West meet. You will be able to enjoy walks to many parks, the library, restaurants, and more lively areas such as Wicker Park and the heart of the West Loop. Divvy bikes are steps from the front door, a bus stop is less than a block away that can take you directly to Navy Pier or connect you to any other part of the city. If you prefer taking the train, you can do that as well with a stop within a 10 minute walk.

The mission of our farm is to teach people how to be healthy through good nutrition, exercise, relationships, and a healthy lifestyle. We also provide healthy food for our customers and show them how to prepare it. We have a large garden and small CSA, we make maple syrup, we grow corn, soybeans, wheat, spelt and hay and we raise chickens for eggs, and grass-fed beef. We have a sawmill and make our own lumber. We have lots of events including maple sugaring open house, mushroom hunts, and fall festivals. We do other special events including hayrides, retreats, and weddings. We have finished our cabin at the lake and it is open for visitors and events. We love to have volunteers and some resist leaving because of the atmosphere. Send us an email. Hope to hear from you. My photos are mostly with former helpxers, I appear with the bull and pitchfork.

We also have a campground around our lake with four campsites. We are members of hipcamp that operates like an air B&B for campers. We... more inside

We started our Vineyard back in 2004,it is located in a Beautiful,Quiet,Valley along the bluffs of the Mississippi River. We have five children that have now grown and moved out on there own. I just retired from a career of Process Instrument Work at the local power plant. I could use some help with the Vineyard and Gardens, but also enjoy fishing and boating on the river in the evenings and of course days off. We would be willing to supply your own bedroom, great meals and WiFi. We also have two Female Collies that love to get brushed and played with. The ideal person would have to be able to work on there own or in a small group, after some training of course to get you up to your comfort level, so as you basically understand what the goals might be for the time of year and tasks at hand, a five hour day,if the weather permits, is what we usually work . There might be a few longer days, but I`m sure that having time off to check out the area won`t be any problem. If you would car... more inside

Small homestead with somewhat remote location in southern In. Nearby attractions include Patoka Lake, French Lick, with major city of Louisville Ky, about 60 mi away.

We have an aging garden that needs raised beds rebuilt.
A small greenhouse where we start garden plants & flowers. We have done a lot of canning & storing food if someone would be interested in learning how to do this.

Numerous fruit tress including 7 apple trees, 2 apricot, 3 dwarf cherry & 1 pear that require maintaining.
Also 6 blueberries & grape harbor.

Planning to refinish older deck & build small cabin in near future so prefer someone with some carpentry skills.

Our woods have many trails that are good for walking or 4wheeling & also provide us with firewood.

Have several domesticated rabbits that are raised for food

Living accommodations will be in detached building with efficiency which includes full bath, bed & limited kitchen such as refrigerator, microwave, toaster.

We are a married couple with a young son learning to farm, focusing on following intuition and flow, living simply and inexpensively and making a Living rather than merely money.

We live off the utility grid, using limited solar power, wood heat, outdoor propane shower, and a nice composting outhouse. We offer a vintage 1950s 2-bedroom mobile home, a 1970 RV, an insulated 8x16 ice fishing shack, or perhaps an 8x8 pallet fort shack as options for guests to sleep in.

We are looking for helpers to assist with harvesting, planting, weeding, mulching, building, etc in exchange for good food and a place to stay - as well as the experience of taking part in this experiment in alternative living and organic farming! It's a busy life but a wonderful one.

The farm is a mile from the beautiful Saint Croix River and just over an hour from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul in Minnesota. A neighbor often needs help with his grape vineyard and pays cash, so you could possib... more inside
