Our idyllic beach-front hostel has been serving volunteers and travelers for ten years. We combine low-impact, natural living with projects that actively benefit the village. In 2015, we made our projects into a non-profit to better provide the tools and support necessary to empower our community through education.

If you want a new perspective, our volunteer opportunities give you a chance to get involved in our community projects.

Our longest-running program is Kids Club, where local kids are welcomed every weekday afternoon, from 2–4 p.m., to learn and play under the guidance of our dedicated volunteers. We provide a fun and safe setting where the kids can just be kids. The children enjoy a large collection of age-appropriate books, a lending library, arts and crafts projects, indoor and outdoor games, science projects, and receive homework help.

We are always looking for mature, energetic volunteers to be positive and fun role models for the children. We would love it... more inside

Short Biography:
Well...let me tell you more about myself and my "projects" here in San Antonio de Upa; My name is Miguel and my grandparents were from Sevilla, Spain; my mother’s parents emigrated to Cuba and my father's to Puerto Rico respectively and my parents met in New York where I was born. I guess that is what brought me a spirit of adventure and the desire to travel, which I have done most of my life.

I ended up in Nicaragua due to a close friend of the family who is from Granada, whom invited me to visit, so I decided to remain and purchased 65 hecters to do what I have always wanted to do, which is farm as “naturally” as possible and that is how this finca came into being.

What We Need:
I need individuals who are self-starters, people who see what’s needed and have the initiative to get it done with little supervision. Need help educating the community in a score of subjects, such as hygiene, food (diet) planning, women sexual issues (family planning), the dange... more inside

I am a mid 30's American male that lives on a small organic farm, with my wife and young child, in the hills just outside of Managua. I supply baby mixed lettuce, kale, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplant, chickens, eggs and sweet potatoes to restaraunts in the Capital. I have a small guest house that can be used. We have electicity, city water, and mobile services. The climate is much cooler than other parts of the country. We are off a major highway that has buses running to the beaches and the capital as well as other cities in between. It is very safe to travel around the country. I have lived here for over 5 years and the first 4 years the buses was my only way of transportation. I have spent almost 20 years, on and off, backpacking through out Mexico and Central America and know it well. I would like to share my little piece of paradise with people who are willing to learn about organic farming , new cultures and to teach them about my great adopted country Nicaragua. In exchange fo... more inside
