Hi there, my family and I welcome you in our Amazon paradise near the river.

We have monkeys, big big butterflies, birds that make futuristic jungle sounds, all kinds of fish to eat, and many many more nice animals.

We are involved in protecting and rescuing the Kichwa culture and identity as well in protecting all species of animals and plants in this region.
We try to be self sustainable as much as possible.

We offer you a place to sleep near the house of my Kichwa family or in traditional bamboo huts. You can also bring a tent if you wish.

We all have a very rich knowledge of medicinal and other plants, of all animals living in this jungle region. We are experienced guides in how to survive with what the earth is giving. In our effort to create work for the people of the community, we run a small tourism project. Tourists visit our place during one day trips in the region. We also make and sell handcraft jewelry.

In our free time we go swim or play football an... more inside

We are startíng a small guest house complex directly on the beach in Engabao, a fishing and surfing town located 15 km from Playas and 1 hour from Guayaquil. The guesthouse consists of furnished 1 and 2 bedroom suites with completely equipped kitchens, hot water and DirectTV. There is a pool and gazebo overlooking the ocean. At present help is mainly needed with construction, painting, landscaping and out door cleaning, while from Dec. to May there may be housekeeping, attending guests, and caring for plants. Helpers work for 4 hours a day with 2 days off midweek and live in one of the suites. They are responsible for preparing their own meals. There's plenty of time for lounging around the pool, enjoying the beach or surfing. We need people who can work without supervision and enjoy nature. We are on a beautiful out of the way beach which generally has tourists only on holidays.

First, a little about my self, then the farm. With 65 years of experiences, I may have a lot to offer you.
Most of my experiences before I got into organic growing were in medicine. I grew up assisting my father, a veterinarian, in caring for animals. During Viet Nam I worked on an infected orthopedic ward as a hospital corpsman in the Navy. After receiving my second degree, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, I worked for the largest non-profit hospice in the world. We cared for over 1,000 people per day. Having a 3 part specialty in wounds, ostomies, and continance, I provided consults for doctors and nurses concerning those areas. When my late wife became disabled with chronic pain, I dedicated my life to being knowledgeable and competent in alternative healing. Teaching was a large part of nursing. The skills I developed in teaching and communicating with a large diverse population are readily used on the farm.
For 5 years I had an organic garden in Southern Florid... more inside

San Bartolo of Uchuculin is a small rural Kichwa community, 25 minutes from the city of Tena, Napo at the edge of Llanganates National Park!!

There are several projects that the families need help with right now, such as building a traditional style house in the jungle and cultivating cocoa, yuca, pineapple and maize crops.
There is no set program, volunteers can bring their own projects related to their professions and areas of interest, and according to the needs of the community. There is also the opportunity to teach English in a local rural school.

It is the hope of the community that volunteers participate in community activities and daily life. This is more of a cultural exchange and a real chance to experience Kichwa Community life from learning to speak Kichwa, cook typical food, build a knowledge about medicinal plants and to make typical jewellery from natural fibres and seeds.

During the week is when the volunteers will work. During the weekend they have an op... more inside

You are more than welcome to join us on our beautiful permaculture fruit farm, where we live off the bounty of the land, and where we work to sustain Mother Nature so she can keep on sustaining us.

We created the farm around four years ago as a sanctuary where we and other learners, travellers, nature-enthusiasts, (aspiring) botanists, environmentalists and anyone else who so desires could live according to permaculture principles. We combine hard, satisfying physical work with blissful moments of hammock and riverside relaxation, fuelled by food we plant, organically fertilise, water, weed, harvest and lovingly prepare ourselves. It doesn't get fresher or more local than this. We can introduce you to or expand your knowledge of multiple species of fruit (we have ~90 varieties here), edible leaves, nuts, medicinal plants, herbs and vegetables, from seeds to how best to consume them all.

Please be aware that, by its nature, farm-work is often very physically demanding, so we... more inside

My name is Jose Cajas I live with my family in Iluman at the foot of the volcano Imbabura, Otavalo. It is an indigenous villiage. I have five children and pets such as dogs and cats. We also have chickens, cows and guinea pigs which are used for food. We live in harmony with nature, and cultivate ancestoral crops such as maize, beans, etc. and ovillas.

I am currently building a cabin on my land. We are building the cabin out of natural and locally sourced materials. There are no other cabins in this region now, so it is a great opportunity to live with an Indigenous family and understand more of our culture and way of life.

We need help with wood construction, placing stones for paths, painting, or any other way in which you can help. You do not need qualifications or specific skills though, any aid will help us a lot. We do need help with the construction, but more than this, we want to talk to you, and learn from you.

We really want to share our culture and also learn ab... more inside

*** Projet Jardin au Papillon ***
*** Proyecto Mariposario ***
*** Butterfly Garden Project ***

Hello, we are a Franco-ecuatorian couple living in Misahualli with our two little girls.
We have a hotel in Misahualli and a lodge in the jungle and we are currently working on the project to open a butterfly garden on Misahualli.

To do this we have to prepare the ground by delineating each area for the butterfly garden (brushing work, digging a pit, making the way, fencing the tour of the field etc…
We also need a nursery to grow flowers for butterflies and noble wood trees to reforest a property that has been deforested.

You will have the opportunity to learn how to handle the machete and use all kinds of tools (shovel, wheelbarrow, cement etc.)

You will be housed in our hotel located 150m/200m from the grounds, in private room with private bathroom, wifi, hot water, fan and a rest room with hammocks.

We ask for 5 hours of work per day (3 hours in the morning and 2 ... more inside
