We will be looking for help in the spring on words. Building dry stone walls around the garden. We would be happy to teach helpers how it's done, the traditional way, laying some slabs and helping in the garden with weeding, planting and that kind of thing. Or indoor painting and decorating if it's raining. We live on the west coast of Ireland in an old farm house which we renovated. There is fantastic surf, close to the see. Beautiful walks and five minutes from our little village .The house is warm and comfortable with a double bed room with it's own bathroom, suitable for a couple. Food plays an important role in our life. We love to cook, grow our own vegetables and raise a lot of our own meat or get it locally from organic and free range farmers. We are on the main road on the bus route to all the nearest towns. We hope helpers might stay a week or so.

Thank you for taking some time to read our profile!

Since 2012, hundreds of wonderful people from all over the world have volunteered with us. We are very grateful for all they do. Some come for two weeks; most come for two or three months and some stay for a year! Others come back for a second, third or even fourth visit. It`s best if people come for at least 2 months. This gives time to settle in and experience a lot more.

We live in a small, traditional west of Ireland village which has a theatre, sculpture centre, nice pubs and lots of sports clubs. There are lots of hill walks and outdoor activities nearby and we are a 30 minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby are three larger towns with public transport (train or bus) to Dublin, Belfast, Londonderry and Galway. The closest airport is 1 hour away, with flights from Britain and Europe.

I enjoy nature, people, animals, theatre, music, arts, community interests, as well as history, politics, peace studies and fai... more inside

There are ongoing land projects involving clearing and managing the hedges etc as well as other ongoing builds and renovations. - many tasks always changing - currently building a rustic outdoor shower space which still needs to be designed and built from materials i have lying around :-) There are chickens and a sweet natured dog to look after as well during weekends when i am working away. new projects include re building existing chicken house and run , clearing the magical fairy hill of bramble stems to allow the gorgeous bluebells to shine through in may and june and other tasks.

The van shown here will be accommodation for my helpers. It has a comfortable bed , a wood burner stove and a gas cooker and is connected to electricity.

Work is in the woodland, Painting, mowing, strimming, weeding and generally working in the garden with general maintenance. the work is always varied as we have 65 acres. Must be willing to work on your own at times. Our farm is on a peninsula in west cork, it has woodland, the sea, a mixture of land and is in a stunning location with views of the sea all around. We have three dogs and chickens. The village is three miles away, there are bicycles and kayaks to borrow. Whale watching trips leave from at the pier a half mile down the road. Saturdays we visit the local farmers market. The accommodation is a twin or double bedded room with bathroom and sometimes there is a cottage available, there is wifi access.
