GARDENING, HELP AROUND THE HOUSE

We are a home-schooling family of 5 living on 1.5 hectares close to the centre of Bundaberg. Our property has extensive gardens as well as vegetables and fruit trees.

Our current focus is on planting Australian native plants in the gardens, removing weeds and mulching the garden beds. Helpers would need to be willing to work unsupervised once they are familiar with the tasks. We prefer a minimum stay of 4 days.

Accomodation is a fully self-contained flat with a queen bed and double fold-out bed, bathroom, kitchenette, fridge, TV, internet and use of swimming pool.

As a home-schooling family we enjoy meeting people from around the world and helping our children learn about different places and cultures.

I believe that I am one of the lucky people who live in a special place in the landscape. I purchased my farm many years ago in a desperate and degraded state and have transformed it into an arcadia. The challenge is to now make a responsible living from the land and I hope to do so by thinning out my abundant forests and selling the wood as boards. Wood is a most wonderful and beautiful product and I try to use it where ever I can and this is my project here.
I believe in reverence to Nature and is what we need to work with to save us humans and the planet. Consequently I lead a rustic life where Nature is greatly appreciated.
I like visitors who are broadminded and who have a respect for Nature. I also like people who are creative and I'd welcome anyone who has some project like writing or art that they would like to work on or someone who just wants to commune with Nature. Maybe they could camp in the jungle cave for a night or my small hut. l have even written a manuscri... more inside

Serenity Cottage is a small cottage nestled in a rainforest setting (3 acres) about 2 kilometres from the world famous Kuranda Village in the rainforest. 10 min walk to the bus top, 30 mins on a beautiful walking track to the village. Bicycles available.
Kuranda is located in the mountain ranges above Cairns, a jumping off point for Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation explorations. Kuranda is accessible by car, subsidised fare bus, scenic train and cable car. Kuranda is also the gateway to the beautiful Atherton Tablelands, famous for Hot Air Ballooning, volcanic crater lakes and lava tubes. There are many hiking trails, down to Cairns passing the mighty Barron Falls, or along meandering rivers and cascading creeks.
I am a retired teacher, single person, and need 2 to 3 hours a day (negotiable) of help either in the house with cleaning, varnishing, painting, and/or some help in the grounds to clear forest growth, move plants, and create a vegetable garden. I can accomodate 1 o... more inside

In a nutshell...

We have a one hectare property in the Sunshine Coast (Australia), with dogs, cat, guinea pigs and chickens. The house is an old wooden Queenslander with lots of character but high maintenance - between our busy jobs, lots of animals and the house, we find ourselves overworked to do everything well. We need a hand!

Jobs we'd love a hand for are: caring / exercising animals, gardening (mowing, weeding, planting, fixing the pond etc to make property even more wildlife friendly), normal house chores, painting and fixing the house, especially if you know wood work like decking, and any extra project you'd be excited to do & discuss with us (building chicken run, a patio, veggie garden, whatever...)

We don't want to overwork you but we seriously need someone to chip in!

More about us:

Currently there are 3 of us living in the house (2 australians and a french), but we had up to 8! (although that was a bit crazy so we won't go back there)

We work a l... more inside

If you’re looking for a short placement right now please contact me! Characterful oldish large house with great views 1km from beautiful Trinity Beach. Has a big swimming pool and a tropical garden and is in need of maintenance and upgrading. Public bus goes 4 minutes’ walk from the house. I am looking for enthusiastic assistance, some skills would be awesome, but unskilled is okay too. Tasks are varied, e.g. building a shed, painting, house cleaning, general gardenening. Basic conversational English essential, or be prepared to teach me your language, and I'm slow! The place is old, and tasks will never run out! I would prefer a minimum of five work days (4-5 hrs/day 5 days/wk, weekends are yours), otherwise not really worth setting up for a job. One room (single bed) available and well equipped kitchen etc. Im not much good at cooking but you won't starve! Or perhaps you can help? Unlimited fast internet, bicycle available. If you can play or are prepared to try playing Ul... more inside

My big house is empty. My garden needs some work and the chickens need some company. I don't need much but some help would be welcome. If you would like to expore, ride horses, relax and sort your stuff, enjoy Christmas, have access to internet in Western Whitsunday town here is your chance. There may be some paid work around I hear.

I am located on a town block seeking some self sufficiency and dry tropics culture. Far enough away from cities that road trains pass the front gate. But close to Whitsunday beaches and near the heart of Australia's Great Barrier Reef and fruit and veg picking at Bowen. Get away to relax under the stars, collect your thoughts, have a rest, pause for a bit, write home or write your book, WiFi. Aim to eat from garden and make home brew beer. Host is well travelled ship captain and writer.

We have a 48 acre property with goats, chickens and cows. We need a hand with general farm duties and also, repairs to a small fence which the goats are escaping from! We also need help with the air bnb, cleaning and getting it ready for guests, general housework. As we run 2 airbnbs from the property, depending on the helper, if they are single or a couple will depend on which Airbnb I will use for their accommodation. I'm looking for about 20 hours per week per helper initially, in exchange for accommodation & breakfast hamper. Our property is beautiful and has beautiful Lake views and views as far as the eye can see. My husband is ill at the moment and is going to be out of action for awhile, do there are general farm duties that I need help with, housekeeping and gardening. A couple is preferred

I have a fairly regular house block,it's semi rural here, with lovely neighbours & state forest at the end of my street that has walking trails thru the beautiful dry savannah landscape & some wonderful tin mining history thru some of the trails. There is a river just a 5 minutes walk for swimming & walking. The tablelands area is an amazing spot for outdoor pursuits, swimming, walking, kayaking & lots of incredible wildlife within this wet tropics world heritage area & being an ex tour guide I'm happy to share some of the sights. My house is small & fairly basic with a nice verandah where the local birds visit to be hand fed most days, a vege garden, compost, I try to keep myself in organic veges most of the year. There is a small group of shops a few blocks away,a couple of lovely coffee shops, groceries, a library for internet, I have limited download. Atherton the main town is 20 mins drive, there's really no public transport here, so you'd be best off with a car. Mostly I need shor... more inside

G'day! at the moment I'm only looking for Helpers with permaculture skills and experience, or are skilled food growers. There's a great permaculture garden here that is under utilized. Come and make the most of it - practice your skills, learn a little more, teach a bit and harvest some food.

Other than that, there may be a few manual household chores such as cleaning and cooking and some garden maintenance.

There are several rooms available for rent, too.

I've been hosting for a while now and have met many lovely people from overseas and locals. (However, if you are a LOCAL and interested in growing food and living sustainably in a like-minded household, contact me about long term rental arrangements.)

Accommodation is comfortable and you will have your own room upstairs (pictured). You'll share the upstairs bathroom with another householder and the kitchen with two of us. There are 2 other householders downstairs sharing separate facilities, but we all share the livi... more inside

We have a property on the A1 midway between Gympie and Maryborough in Queensland.
It's a start up bamboo farm and we need help getting started. There's a lot of work to do picking up leaves mulching bamboo etc.
We have a room in the house or in the caravan, we can only take a single person or a couple for a few weeks work in exchange for food and board.
You'll need your own transport.
Our son lives there full time but we are only able to get there at the weekends.
It's a beautiful area very peaceful, with only the geese and a couple of chooks as company.
