If you need a restfull retreat, it`s the place to find inspiration.

The house is about 2 km from the nearest small village with a café-épicerie. Ths nearest city, Saint-Hilaire du Harcouët is about 7 km and provides all kind of shops and services and also a famous weekly market on Wednesday morning.

If you are on a hiking, backpacking, cycling, campervan, solarplane tour you can stop by for a short stay.

Ideal helper is having experience in working on any work of construction or perfect if being a professional in building trade and knowing to work independently. Please note this is an unpaid volunteering position. There is also some other work like DIY in the garden or a lot of rearranging items (which I am selling on flee market to get my income).

My area is great to discover western Europe as it is located on three countries border of France, Germany, and Switzerland. Three countries, three dominating languages. German, French, and English (Basel is a seat of some big chemical companies who have the use of business English).

Unfortunately, accommodation and other living costs are very high in this area. As a traveling volunteer myself (languages education) I wanted to get help on my reconstruction from kind people forming a durable friendship but I also wanted to offer a place for people to be able to travel to this part of the world in same time. So it is a "quid pro quo". ... more inside

Originally from the North East of Scotland we moved to Central France and bought the abandoned farm in 2008 after selling up in Scotland in 2006 and down-sizing to a camper-van with our two huge dogs and touring around Europe looking for the right place to put down some roots. We are working towards being as self-sufficient as possible-renovating the buildings and developing the land using eco-friendly, sustainable techniques, resources and energy. We have one hectare of land surrounding the house and a further 2 hectares of overstood, abandoned coppiced woodland that we are attempting to regenerate to provide our fuel; building materials; material for basket-making; charcoal-making etc. and just for being a beautiful place to spend time in and have fun!
The hectare of land is divided into pasture for animals and a potager/vegetable garden and orchard for food production. We are joining up these areas to create an all-encompassing "forest garden".
We have recently given up our g... more inside

Hi, We are looking for some help packing up our house which we have sold. We are looking for people from end June, July and August. Moving furniture, cleaning, windows, the kind of things involved in emptying a house that has sold.

There are lots of interesting and very lovely things near and around where we live. It is a very beautiful region.

The train from our village station goes to all points in the Pyrenees and Toulouse is 40 minutes away by train. You can also take the train to the border of Spain in the Pyrenees and it is a spectacular ride! There are trains and buses all over the pyrenees to great walking trails, cycling, swimming and fishing spots too.

We love meeting people and are a relaxed family of French and Australian origin. Please get in touch if you think we can help each other.

Thank you!

Our crops are grown on mountain terraces and sold in our two communal farmshops, together with the meat from our pigs.
