My farm is located 15 minutes west of Kaiwaka (about and hour north of Auckland) on the edge of the Kaipara harbour (the second largest harbour in the world).

I am in my 30s and run a 840 acre beef farm.

There is a wide array of tasks available on the farm depending on your experience and what you are interested in learning. Tasks also vary by what time of the year and can include day to day farm jobs like helping shift stock, drenching cattle, weed control, fencing aswell as household jobs and gardening.

Main job at this time of year is thistle/weed spraying on ATV. So ATV (All Terrain Vehicle or Quad bike)experience would be good.

Expect about 4 hours of work a day in return for food and accommodation
Extra paid work is available if you have work visas and are a good worker.

Would prefer people that have a interest in farming.

I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and learning how they live.

Is easiest if you have a car, but there is ... more inside

Hello!
I live on a large block of land in the far north with a mix of native forest and orchards. Having the opportunity to live on this land is a bit of a dream come true for me and I am wanting to learn and practice sustainable management of resources and incorporate permaculture principles as much as possible. I have recently returned from travelling and staying at other people's places so enjoy that I am now able to offer a space for travellers to come and stay and experience this way of life for a while.

We have macadamias, lemon's and tamarillos at the moment. So there is ongoing work in pruning, picking, mowing grass and general maintanance of the orchards.
Over the next month I will be preparing and planting some new orchards which will involve clearing, mulching and planting work.
At the moment I am also working on upgrading the water supply systems and building some new toilet and shower facilities so anyone with some building or plumbing skills would be most welcome... more inside

Help required with landscaping, weeding, fence/yard building, sleepout building, general building assistance, paddock maintenance (we have horses so riding with us is an option).

Simon is passionate about carpentry and restores cars and I am a barefoot trimmer in my spare time. We are both immigrants to NZ so you would be in good company!

We both work, so helpers will need to be honest, and come with good recommendations, and will mostly work unsupervised. We require around 4 hours work a day with food provided. Short or longer stays welcome. Free unlimited WIFI, Netflix and a laptop provided if required.

Unfortunately the tiny cottage we live in is over 100 years old and the spare room is accessed from our bedroom and more of a junk room at the moment (not ideal, and the walls are thin!), but we can provide a roomy tent (in summer) or you can park your own campervan. Hopefully we will have a sleepout soon, but need help to build it lol!

We are 25km from Kerikeri a... more inside

We are a family living in Opua in the beautiful Bay of Islands. We are currently looking for two people who can help us with some school holiday childcare, our major wooden boat renovation project and some bits of housework. This would start straight after Christmas in late December.

Opua is on the coast about 6km south of Paihia. It is a small settlement with a shop, café, cruising club and a sizeable marina and boatie community.

We live within walking distance of the centre of Opua on a quiet street with a view over the river. Our helper accommodation is within our house but on the ground level, so our helpers can have their own space. It has been converted from the garage/store area and is basic but comfortable with it’s own bathroom, queen bed and couch.

We would like to host two helpers and our accommodation would suit couples. Obviously you have to like kids (ours are age 9 and 6) and preferably one person would have a background in looking after kids. It would... more inside

We are a family of four with school-aged children and a friendly labrador dog.

We are trying to grow as much of our own food as possible but due to our busy lives we need extra help!

Tasks required might include vacuuming, sweeping, weeding, wheelbarrowing as well as helping with particular projects.

We're happy for you to work more on some days in order for you to get whole days off.

We are a family of 6: mum, 4 children, aged 13, 14, 19 and 24, and grandmother. The two oldest children have flown the nest and only return home once in a while. We live in an old farmhouse (built 1920s) on a beautiful lifestyle block of 1.6 hectares in rural Whangarei.

We are vegetarian/vegan and we love animals: 1 horse, 12 pet sheep, 1 cow with calf, 1 dog, 2 cats, 6 chickens and a rooster live with us on our land.

We can accommodate one person or a couple.
The type of work that typically needs doing includes jobs such as weeding, digging over the vegetable garden, planting, house cleaning, painting, etc. You’ll have plenty of free time to explore this beautiful area of New Zealand.

The helper/s (1 person or a couple) must have their own transport as we live rural and there is no public transport to and from our house.

There is plenty to see and do around Whangarei: Explore our many beautiful beaches, forests, bush and nature walks. You can also visit historical s... more inside

We live on a 90 acre beef and sheep farm, surrounded by stunning panoramic views, only 15 minutes from Whangarei. We both work during the week and would need some help with light farm work, gardening and building.

What we offer: Horse riding (beginners welcome). If you have your own transport, we are close to both coasts and the Waipoua forest and only 2 and a half hours away from Auckland. We are situated in a kiwi conservation reserve (you can hear them at night if you get lucky!). We are near the kiwi house in Whangarei if you want to see one. There are lots of beautiful hikes and areas to explore around our property.

We are friendly and fun, so make sure you pack up your sense of humour in your backpack!

We encourage helpers to stay for a week, and we would like you to work for 4 hours a day in exchange for meals and accommodation (2 queensize beds, own bathroom and private from the rest of the house). The house is modern and warm in winter, cool in summer.

We run cows with calves at foot, we have chickens to feed. We have extra chores around the property pruning our beautiful trees on the driveway, clearing paddocks of wood, chipping thistles and gorse, helping with fencing, vegetable gardening and general maintenance.
We have a beautiful outside self contained cottage to stay in. It has a queen bed so suit a couple or single. Person would require a vehicle as we are out of town a bit. We are also very central to many amazing sightseeing adventures of the Far North for you to explore.
