I live in a big house and I need help to maintain it. Also I have an organic vegetable garden to take care off and a few animals such as ckicken, sheeps, dogs and a cat. There is a organic farmer who come and cultivate my land so I get fresh organic vegetables. You can learn a lot from him about permaculture. A couple of beekepers have put hives on my property. I expect 25 hours of work per week in exchange of a bedroom on your own and meals. I cook mostly vegetarien. Very rarely I cook meat but it happens sometimes.

FRENCH VERSION BELOW
We (in our 30s) welcome you on 9Ha of land on a farm open to collective projects (experimental agriculture, eco building, artistic creations and events...).

We can host from May to October and we specifically need help in the vegetable garden with a bit of work to keep the fields in good condition.

The project is still recent so please be prepared for basic (but comfortable) accomodation: we can offer a private room and you'll have access to the internet and a bathroom in our house.

Dry toilet and phytopurification (only natural, non polluting hygiene products allowed)

Our aim is to be as autonomous as possible (energy, food...) and our activities are non lucrative.

As previous helpers, we know both sides of the coin: we don't expect you overwork but we are not a free hotel either!

Just give us a call so that we can talk about it together!
French, English and German spoken

Immerse yourself in rural France... we are off the beaten track in the southern Loire Valley, near the historic town of Ligueil. Our 15th century house is at the heart of a very small medieval village. We have a local store with a bar, but that`s it! Bigger shops and restaurants can be found in Loches (about 20 mins away by car). From Paris the nearest mainline railway station is in Tours. There is also an international Airport at Tours (serviced by RyanAir). The bus which will deliver you to our village leaves from the centre of Tours and takes an hour to get here.

We are not wealthy people, just very fortunate to find such a special place to live. And we are committed to ensuring this ancient building is in good repair so it lasts another 600 years. We mostly do the work ourselves, and we run a part-time `bed and breakfast` business to help pay the bills (open from May to October). Like all old buildings there is always something to be done, so we could do with some assistance... more inside

Hi Guys :)

After a lot of travels around the world, being an helper myself and managing an Organic farm in British Columbia (Canada), i finally settled myself in france, in a farm (Ashnola Organic Farm).
The farm is located at the foothills of the Pyrenees, in the beautiful valley of the Baretous. It is just 20 minutes away from Oloron Ste Marie, 45 from Pau, an hour from Spain and less than 2 hours from the Atlantic ocean.
I am always looking for new helpers who want to share my life style, their stories and listen to mine, are not afraid to put some dirt on their hands, help with animals (chickens, rabbits, horses, cats and dog) and want to eat organic fresh food. And we often give a hand to the neighbors.
According to the season we seed, plant, pick and pack and we go to the farmer market, and the basic chore of every farmer, some weeding :P
I like to work in the morning, 4 to 6 hours per day.
After that, the afternoon is for you, hiking, biking, visiting the area, goin... more inside

lI am 88 yrs old still active enough to live in and maintain a restored water mill 8 km. from Castillon-la-Bataille; about a km down hill from the village of St Philippe d'Aiguilhe.
I was an art-history, archeology, and English teacher until my husband and I bought a small vineyard that we worked on with helpers, Woofers, etc., and always enjoyed them.
When my son and family took over the vineyard, we moved to the mill nearby with 5 hectares of woods and meadows.
Now, on my own, I need help in preparing the vege and flower gardens for winter in November and particularly January-March, bringing in wood for heating and keeping small trees, branches and brambles from invading the meadows. I often need general repairs around an old stone house. A driver's licence is essential so you can drive my car wherever needed.
You would have an independent "studio apt." with double bed, kitchen facilities and bathroom. I can provide meals if need be and for vegetarians though I'm not one. ... more inside

This beautiful, 2.5 hectare garden, set in the heart of Haute-Normandie Pays de Caux near the English Channel and whose light inspired the Impressionist movement, is called the Jardin d'art et d'essais and which can be loosely translated as an Arthouse garden.

This is not a run of the mill Help X destination. There is a real opportunity to learn and have a totally unique experience while staying in the 17th century Priory in the centre of the garden. Cécile Maitrot, the gardening artist or artistic gardener (she conforms to both), welcomes you to join her in this artistic gardening adventure.

Previous experience of gardening and some basic French are welcome but not essential as Cecile can get by in English, Spanish and German and will teach you all you need to know; the work, of course, changes with the seasons and can be a variety of brute force and delicate sensitivity but never forgetting that this is an artistic adventure and is open to the public. Help Xers are invited t... more inside

Renovating a stone farmhouse in the Charente department of France. We need help with many aspects of the build but mainly on the outbuildings. We are trying to renovate as environmentally sympathetically as possible, so projects include restoring lyme walls, new lyme plaster. New straw bales walls, cob and cordwood walls. earth roofs etc the garden is an ongoing project with polytunnel and fruit geodome. We have horses and bees on site.
We would be asking for 4 hours a day for 5 days a week but depending on the project we would ask that people be flexible with that, so maybe 6 hours one day and 2 the next for example.
We are part of a food recup association that saves food from supermarkets and we currently feed over 100 members from 3 distributions a week. As a family we are vegan so meals ( which are provided ) on site will be so, please let us know if you have any other allergies so we can accommodate your needs.
Volunteer accommodation is basic, but then so is ours, you wi... more inside

Seeking one helper to help with running my tourist business here. Really nice opportunity for someone in beautiful part of the French countryside.

The house is a renovated, beautiful 16th Century farmhouse in amongst 10 hectares of wild forest and pasture land in the the middle of the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc. We are also located next door to a wonderful organic pig farm who sell many produce. There are four gites (holiday homes) in the house which sleep up to 20 people. We also have a large function room/hall.

The gardens are very large with many regional wildflowers and plants. There is a large swimming pool and children's play ground and tree platform lookout. The platform and playground are made from locally felled Chestnut trees.

We have our own drinkable natural mountain water source, a large vegetable garden, many fruit trees and a 3kW hydro electric power station which provides some of the houses electricity via a stream we have diverted here.

We live in a big 16th century isolated house with approximately 4 hectares of land (mainly chestnut trees). The property is situated in the Cévennes area (about 60 kilometers north of Nîmes) near Lasalle. The people living here are Philippe (full time), Julie (part time, as she often works in Paris), quite often friends who stay with us for a few days, even up to a month, customers (we host personal development, yoga and group psychotherapy retreats), and of course wwoofers ; ). We grow organic vegetables that we exclusively for our own use and we like to experiment with alternative and healthy foods like fermented products (making of tempeh, natto and lacto-fermented carrots). We are keen on welcoming mature independent and responsible volunteers for discovering and participating in our different activities, depending on the time of year: clearing brambles, weeding, picking and processing chestnuts, figs and vegetables, cooking and expanding the vegetable garden. We can't receive v... more inside
