Every year, men and women from all over, join in the commotion and comradery of what we call Ecstatic Building;
Spirit Horse’s unique drive to create sacred architecture which anyone can do.

Ecstatic because of the exhilaration collectively felt when we are fully engaged in the “common work of the tribe” and fully giving rein to our innate, unbridled, natural creativity.

Our instinct is to create, and make in beauty. And making home, or housing for the holy, is natural and refreshingly fulfilling. To be able to build houses, temples, born of this natural unrestricted intelligence in the old way, is a freedom rarely experienced these days.

Here is your invite to join the Spirit Horse Tribe for the month of May, in sacred architecture. Banging nails, candle lit dinners, happy banter and companionship in a spectacular welsh valley, adorned with waterfalls; radiant with the exuberance of May, in the creation of earthy, wild architecture and a new culture.

The house is a 16th century manor house and out-buildings which we have been repairing for the last 35 years, using traditional and mainly recycled materials. We have wood, metal, pottery/ casting workshops, marbling/art studio,42inch HP printer,50 foot music/sewing loft, megga swings and zip wire, even a sound and vision space rocket to escape in.!!!. Help needed for the following; setting up veg garden, building restoration, stone and lime work, tree work, woodwork, metal work, help with general household duties and cooking would also be appreciated. Accommodation is in the house, which is historically original, but with all the modern conveniences. (various tents are available for those who want to be closer to nature.)Internet available.
One of the main goals here is to promote the use of lime in the repair of old buildings and the rather daunting task of getting new buildings to change over to natures best environmental building material! We are also re-use/upcycle master... more inside

We have been hosting helpers since 2011 and enjoy meeting people from all over the world, sharing food and cooking and hearing about other cultures.
We like to host a couple or 2 friends, preferably with some gardening experience. We need people from March onwards. There is a range of jobs depending on the time of year including pruning trees, picking fruit and veg, fencing, pond clearing, small building work, decorating, cooking, weeding, planting, making bonfires etc.
It is a large wildlife friendly garden, orchard, poly tunnel, veg, pond and coppice wood/hedges. We make sure the work is suitable for your level of experience and welcome your ideas too.
Artists studio in the garden running printmaking courses.

Accommodation is 2 double bedrooms in the house, or in simple small wooden house in the garden. This has a compost toilet and a solar panel that does lighting, so a peaceful place to stay.

Ideally we prefer two people together as it makes the work easier. We invite ... more inside

Hi, we moved to our home in North Dorset August 2014. It is a farm in a beautiful area of England. We have 3 children aged 20 - 12, 2 dogs and a cat and are preparing for beef cattle. It is a very friendly area, and the train station is close by. We planted 17000 trees over the last 3 years which need some help maintaining. We are establishing a garden, renovating a barn, making doors, painting. There are lots of different jobs to do from helping on the farm, to the garden, to cleaning and cooking in the house. If you have carpentry skills, brick laying or building skills, that is useful but not necessary.

We recently finished converting a barn to a large studio with a kitchen, it is attached to the house but quiet and private with great views.

Short-term cultural exchange in the old Roman City of Chester in exchange for helping with DIY around the house and garden.

Set in central Chester the location is close to everything you need and can enjoy in the city. Chester has many interesting things to see and do, including cultural and artistic opportunities. You can also walk along the Canal and River as well as tour the city on The Roman Sandstone Walls. The black and white Tudor buildings of the Rows are a tourist attraction and many people visit each year. It is close to North Wales, Manchester and Liverpool. I also have other guests staying, often artists and actors, as I like meeting new people from all across the world.

The helper will have a private double room, with excellent views over Wales, plus shared kitchen, bathroom, living areas and gardens. Food is not provided however occasional shared meal if that suits. I would ask the guest to remain vegan/vegetarian and non-smoking whilst in my home.

We're the hostel facing the sea, it's scenic, it's peaceful, and it's sunny! We've opened 2 years ago and already built a strong "boutique hostel" reputation. We are looking for a responsible, genuine and cheerful help. Our guests are mainly hikers, amateur sailors, bird watchers, school and uni trippers and also fish and chips eater. We've got constant and good ratings, thanks to many factors, one of them being our helpers!
We need volunteers to ensure guests are being welcomed in a nice atmosphere and the place stays tidy. You would be helping 5 days a week with two full consecutive days off. Most days you will help the morning and have the afternoon free unless you are scheduled on for the day, and in exchange for your volunteering, you will receive free accommodation, laundry facilities, free tea/coffee, WiFi.
Discover the Fife kingdom and most particularly the East Neuk region its history and its reputation of having the most friendly people in all Scotland! If you wish to... more inside

Hi, I am regularly looking for helpers as there is nearly always a new project to do here. I would prefer a couple or a someone who is creative and ideally has Carpentry, Construction, DIY and Maintenance Skills In particular please, but who can also assist with all manner of things from house cleaning, DIY, Gardening, renovation and building. I am looking for a couple, but having said that, would consider a person travelling alone too.

This is a lovely old farmhouse tucked down a Cornish country lane on the Rame peninsula. I am within walking distance of the beach and national trust coastal paths where there is amazing surfing and lots of walking opportunities. I do not run the farm as a fully working farm but do have chickens, 2 pigs, dogs and cats

I am in the process of renovating a vintage caravan, barns and out buildings, and am, along with a friend, hoping to build a small straw bale and half 'old window frame' lean-to glass house, a tree house and a clay pizza oven an... more inside

We are a small independent backpacking hostel in the centre of Birmingham, we have a small team of cleaning staff that handle our day-to-day cleaning tasks as well as team of permanent reception staff which deal with front of house tasks and occasionally general cleaning.

All of our staff are former guests who fell in love with our quirky little place and eventually became a part of the team, if you decide to join the team you will be with fun young individuals from every corner of the globe! It is a great place to improve your English, learn about different cultures and maybe even make some life long friends!

We generally only accept volunteers for a period of two months or more as training is required to fulfill most of our positions. If you are looking to stay for an extended period of time we are more than happy to give you small 'vacations' occasionally to explore the rest of the UK! These are subject to approval, as it depends on how busy the period is.
