Homestay to assist elderly lady with light housework, meals & companionship when she is at home from nursing care. Otherwise, just general housekeeping type activities.
She'll have other personal care assistance in place, and family living around her. You'll mainly be required when they're not available.

Update: Sadly, she won't be returning home from nursing care very often any more, and the rare times that she will, she'll have plenty of support in place for her.

I suppose that part of the helpx is moot now, but there is still a housekeeping/cooking/light cleaning opportunity 4 days per week Mon-Thurs with fri-sun off, if anyone is interested.

Hi there,
I have previously been a helper myself. My husband and I travelled a lot and did much volunteering in Spain and Thailand :) So trust me we know what it is like!

We are really grateful that you are reading this.

THIS IS WHY WE NEED HELP:

I inherited a house from my grandmother who I can gladly say is still living and this house is where we would like to live in the future.

we don't live there now but it is where we would be needing the work done.

we need to strip the walls of the old plaster.
This is time a consuming job and we would need someone or two who can work on their own. michal would help some days but might be working others.

we also need to replace the roof so if you can do this we could pay u somethimg too. to get arranged. .....

the house is situated 5 minutes from town but we don't live there. we live 20 minutes away and would need to drive there. so after your work for the day you could walk to town and enjoy:

surfing, sup... more inside

HELP! I've bought an Old Farmhouse by mistake, I need the good, the strong and the not so ugly to help me out. I sort of want to say it's organic, but I've had a brief peruse of other hosts and they're all talking about permaculture, which I thought was a bad hairstyle fashion, big in Liverpool in the eighties, along with shell-suits and rioting! I'm out in the sticks here people, well just a 15 minute drive from the famous Medieval city of Kilkenny, 'The Marble City' -self flagellation and thumb screws are optional- bravery is not, so just 15 minutes out of town and in the heart of the Kilkenny Mountains, on a rare night, like tonight, every single star in all the Galaxy, lights up the Irish sky, the crows snore, loudly and if your lucky and drink enough you might just see the leprechauns dance through the woods, that's a very rare night, it's mostly overcast and chucking down unreasonable sums of rain. Don't be alarmed during the day, which may also be damp, if you hear a tractor ... more inside

We will be looking for help in the spring on words. Building dry stone walls around the garden. We would be happy to teach helpers how it's done, the traditional way, laying some slabs and helping in the garden with weeding, planting and that kind of thing. Or indoor painting and decorating if it's raining. We live on the west coast of Ireland in an old farm house which we renovated. There is fantastic surf, close to the see. Beautiful walks and five minutes from our little village .The house is warm and comfortable with a double bed room with it's own bathroom, suitable for a couple. Food plays an important role in our life. We love to cook, grow our own vegetables and raise a lot of our own meat or get it locally from organic and free range farmers. We are on the main road on the bus route to all the nearest towns. We hope helpers might stay a week or so.

Thank you for taking some time to read our profile!

Since 2012, hundreds of wonderful people from all over the world have volunteered with us. We are very grateful for all they do. Some come for two weeks; most come for two or three months and some stay for a year! Others come back for a second, third or even fourth visit. It`s best if people come for at least 2 months. This gives time to settle in and experience a lot more.

We live in a small, traditional west of Ireland village which has a theatre, sculpture centre, nice pubs and lots of sports clubs. There are lots of hill walks and outdoor activities nearby and we are a 30 minute drive from the Atlantic Ocean. Nearby are three larger towns with public transport (train or bus) to Dublin, Belfast, Londonderry and Galway. The closest airport is 1 hour away, with flights from Britain and Europe.

I enjoy nature, people, animals, theatre, music, arts, community interests, as well as history, politics, peace studies and fai... more inside
