We are retired teachers. We inherited a large family property with several buildings and a large field. We are nature lovers and we decided to create a park (arboretum) and we take care of it. We also produce organical vegetables and fruits, but we do not make breedings. We are not vegetarians, but we are very careful about the quality of our supplies : we are members of an AMAP, "voisins de panier" to buy local organic food to complete our production.
Paul is also involved in a workshop of wood and a blog on the internet. Pascaline is interested in writing. We both play music and we work together a lot in the park.
The house is large and well appointed and the last few years we do hosting also couchsurfers and bewelcomers. We really appreciate getting to know all kinds of people. We offer a real exchange : we helped those who wanted to learn French according to our abilities...
The house, garden, park, carpentry, all this gives us a lot of work. Not being very young, we seek h... more inside

We now have helpers for most of the year, some availability in September. DIYers, gardeners, carpenters will all be welcome.
Hosts.. We are English.John and Barbara, retired teachers.
We have owned our property, not a farm, more of a very large garden, since 1989. We now spend half the year here.We have much less energy but still need to keep on top of a productive garden and continue renovations. We have catered for vegans, vegetarians, celiacs and other needs/preferences. We try to be organic gardeners and be self-sufficient with fruit and veg. We keep ducks for eggs and have a large polytunnel.

Broadband wi-fi is present on site. Bicycles are available.

We aim for self-sufficiency without being extreme. We grow, harvest, and try to conserve any excess. This means bottling and drying produce later in the season.
The crops include asparagus, beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, kiwi, cherries, peaches, apples, pears, apricots, plums, st... more inside

My husband and I moved to France 14 years ago when we bought an old farm house and barn to renovate. We have two children ages 11 and 16. Our farmhouse is in the beautiful Lot region of France. It’s a wonderful place to live with hills and valleys . It’s a tourist region with lots of activities and beautiful villages, chateaux and local markets. We are just a 15min drive to the Dordogne with its lovely river for canoeing, sailing and cycle routes.
We have completed our renovation and are now working to make a garden . We have 10 acres including pasture and woodland. So you can imagine this is a rather large task. We spend our time keeping on top of the garden that has been created and so have many projects that we can’t seem to get to.
We are therefore looking for energetic, outdoor loving people to help us create our garden, veg plot etc. We have
one double guest room in our house which could accommodate a single person or a couple looking to enjoy the french the french count... more inside

Hi. We are currently restoring our medieval farm in South West France. We have a new baby so need some help with general traditional building and with the formation of a kitchen garden.

Lots to do - All aspects of stone masonry and carpentry, use of power tools, groundwork, planting and weeding, fencing and the opportunity to do some blacksmithing workshops as well.

You will benefit from the opportunity to learn from a master carpenter and skilled metalworker in a friendly family environment, surrounded by amazing landscape with a vibrant local town and social scene

The accommodation is shared room in the family home with wood stove whilst its still chilly! Then moving to a modern custom caravan with a bit more privacy as the weather improves.

In the area we have amazing kayaking, mountain biking and climbing all within local reach plus a local town with a busy bar/gig scene and a lively community who are always organising something fun!
