Family opperated dairy farm in the scenic Kiewa valley, north east Victoria. We milk around 100 dairy cows, have young dairy stock and beef cattle, a few sheep and a couple of riding horses. Helpers work would include assisting with : milking cows, feeding livestock, fencing, weed control, caring for young or sick livestock, general farm work and also helping with meals and housework. Autumn/Winter are our busiest times with between 6-8 hours work and Spring/Summer 3-6 hours work. We also enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking, horse riding and bush walking which helpers would be most welcome to join in. Our main reason for joining helpX is to meet new people and make friends from all over the world. Look forward to hearing from you :)

Hello!
Forget Melbourne come to Ballarat!!!!!!!!!!
My name is Penelope and I am a secondary school teacher and my fiance works on a farm, we are both 30 years old. We have met many backpackers as my parents also do Help X (Host ID: 43674)& many have come to say "Hello" or a short stay with me and now I need help as we just bought a house. We live in the vibrant city of Ballarat where there is Lake Wendouree (pictured), lots of nightlife and cafes, bush walks, a wildlife park and Australian history relating to the Gold Rush.

Dave and I often visit the nearby Grampians and Great Ocean Road which I have shared some pictures of from when we have been to visit. We love going on adventures and seeing what the area around us has to offer!

Because of our new house we need help to paint, garden and update a few bits and pieces. We are currently both really busy and need to have people who are practical and can work independently as our engagement party is real soon.

FARM MAINTENANCE/GENERAL HOUSE HELP
OR
WORK WITH HORSES

We are located in the picturesque Dandenong Ranges. We are 10 minutes south of Gembrook and 10 minutes north of Pakenham. We are accessible by public transport - a bus from Gembrook to Pakenham Station regularly runs past our property.

We are both horse riding instructors. We breed hereford cattle and run livery for horses, as well as working and training our own horses.

Running a property and business, as well as bringing up a 10 year old daughter, is a lot of work. Add to this the fact that I am going back to full time teaching, and we will really need some help with the feeding and care of the horses, so we would love the help of a clean living, non-smoking female or a couple of females, to assist us with our cattle and horses, in exchange for meals and comfortable accommodation in our family home. You will be treated like a member of our family.

Your room features a queen bed, TV/DVD player and wifi, and... more inside

This is a old fashioned mixed farm. We have a flock of Khaki Campbell ducks which produce duck eggs which we sell to local restaurants and green grocers. We also have a focus on small-scale, free-range, sustainable, ethically raised meat and there is a flock of sheep, some Angus cattle and Percy, Harriet and Georgia, our breeding boar and sows, along with possible piglets depending upon when you come. There's also three horses, chooks and two dogs to complete the menagerie. Oh and kangaroos and echidnas are regular visitors.

You will have a studio style accommodation to yourself. (Double bed - suitable for couples). Free wifi. Ideal for us is two 4 hour days of work / week in exchange for the accommodation plus 3 nights / week putting away ducks and feeding animals (about 1/2 an hour / night) Mostly you would self-cater but we would share a meal once or twice a week.
