This is a community growing initiative. We are currently implementing estate wide permaculture solutions across the beautiful estate at Stanford Hall. Our current project is the launching of a 7 acre community supported agriculture scheme that will provide vegetables and educational activities for local schools, community growers and surrounding villages. The scheme is utilising no dig, biodynamic principles along side many other cutting edge agricultural techniques.

To get this pioneering scheme off the ground we need to bring together a diverse team of individuals. We've set up a cosy yurt with wood burning stoves. There is access to toilets, hot showers and communal recreational area.

We are looking for volunteers for a tree planting project this winter.

There are tasks to suit all abilities and experience levels, so if you'd like to be a part of this exciting project please get in touch.

Help for woman with multiple sclerosis living in Oxford. I am looking for people who will do personal care assistance work for me for up to 20hrs/week which can be arranged to fit in with other plans you have.

I am involved in a range of projects. I am very interested in eco-living and generally trying to cut down on waste. If you have not come across the idea of permaculture before you might be interested to look at the following general introduction:

This mixed hill farm is home to 26 cows, a bull, two goats, a large flock of sheep ,bees, poultry, ducks, four cats and two dogs with their two owners and quite a lot of wildlife. The farm is certified organic/biodynamic. We use Biodynamic methods, have no machinery and work hard to try to grow vegetables, shiitake and fruit at 650` on a south facing hill in a glorious area of South West Scotland. We welcome non-smoking meat eating or vegetarian help. We are far from shops and transport, quiet - a great place to watch the stars!

There is always a lot to do and we need help now! If you would like to help us get ready for winter and with our Biodynamic Preparations- we must perform one of these in the next few days/weeks you would learn about what and why we do it! There is still a lot left to do before the end of Summer! We have some recycled timber which we would love to turn into duck and/or hen houses and there is always fencing to renovate or dykes to repair!

"As a volunteer at Chisholme House you are appreciated for who you are, not only for what you do."

This is a place of great beauty set in the heart of the Scottish Borders. It is primarily a school and retreat centre. The 187 acre estate offers an ideal space in which to retreat, engage in study and experience the reviving effect of being close to nature.

We accept help throughout the year but at the moment we are particularly looking for help over the summer. Come and join volunteers from all over the world for a week or two of satisfying work in Chisholme's walled garden and estate - and help too in preparing the wonderful meals for which we are famous. You can come for one of our special volunteer weeks when a programme of activities complements work outside - or at any other time. Please see the website for more details http://www.chisholme.org/whats-on/upcoming-courses.html

Have you some experience of erecting deer-fencing?! We need help to create a deer-proof area for growing trees. In autumn/winter. You get exclusive use of our beautiful little off-grid camping hut during your stay!

Seven years ago we took a chance on a bare piece of land. Empty but for bog, rock, bracken, grassland, heather, wild flowers and trees. Long winters in a caravan while we watched our children outgrow the space and erected a polytunnel and chicken huts, created a vegetable garden, built a camping hut and a family home.

We are looking for help with our next steps as we make the land more productive. Long-term, our plan is to develop a forest garden with layers of plants producing nuts, fruit, vegetables and timber, while our pigs and chickens roam and feed beneath. A step away from traditional crofting, we want to create an ecosystem that can provide for us, while being self-sustaining and giving back to our Earth.

In the short term our steps are very practical, e... more inside

Help a 64 year old retired couple run an Internationally renown Ornamental Waterfowl Conservation Breeding Farm near Castle Douglas in South West Scotland.
The 600 plus breeding birds forming the collection come from all over the world and ducklings start hatching in March and continue to do so through to October for some of the Southern Hemisphere species. This is when and why we are looking for help.
The work is very rewarding although some of the enclosure maintenance etc can be physically demanding and so requires gloves and resolve! We are unable to cater for any special dietary requirements, such as Vegan, Vegetarian, Piscatarian or the likes so expect 'would be' helpers to join and eat with us at meal times as part of the experience.
We would prefer potential volunteers to want to be with us for around 2 weeks minimum.
