SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - SPRING/SUMMER 2020

Looking for fit and motivated helpers as we are planning to build a 700m long fence for our lamas and goats ! Cutting and chopping wooden poles, hammering them in a rocky ground and attching a 1.50m high fence... sounds exciting!

Plus if you have some skills in gardening, if you are interested in permacultural experiments, if you feel like doing some gardening and taking care of our animals, we would love to host some enthusiastic HelpXers to take care of our beautiful terraced garden!!

As we have 2 kids and some work to do, we won't be 100% available to take time with you, so we would prefer rather independent couples or pairs, with a good sense of autonomy... Babysitting skills most welcome :)

We're a family with two daughters (8 and 11 years old). We live in a large house with a large garden.
We live in the east France mountains countryside named " les Vosges ".
Our jobs are optician and speech-therapist...but we're both in the process of retraining.

The full family hope to meet people from everywhere. We would like a viewpoint on the world and other cultures for us and our children. Learn better english by these exchanges is also very nice (but it's easier if you speak few words in french for our daughters). We are not vegetarian.

I like painting, drawing, sewing, books, beer, associative life... and i like spent time with children at home to play, to do DIY...
We enjoy music. My husband plays bass (and we have a few instruments at home)and he practices Krav-Maga

So we look for open-minded people, who like children, a simple way of life, art and countryside... It's better for us if you have a few words in french or at less the desire to learn a bit frenc... more inside

This château was built and rebuilt between 1600 and 1850. The castle was owned by a famous chemist, physicist, botanic and alchemist.
4000sqm castle
1000sqm outbuildings (orangery, horse stables - 4 horses, office shed, gatehouse ...)
Situation: roofs in order, no moisture in basements or walls - only occasionally leaky pipes, so nothing that can not be easily put in order.
Formerly an asylum for lunatics was housed in the castle,
We want to provide a stylish ambience for weddings and overnight guests. We love abandoned châteaus, but they should be habitable.
We do not want a “should look like that" style. We maintain our own style, i.e. we need someone helping us to turn the castle into a magnificent swan - freestanding bathtubs in large rooms with views out French windows into a 26 ha park yet to be cared for.

What we need: Nice people from all over the world, that can do the tasks mentioned above with us - and please as soon as possible!!
What do we offer: everything... more inside

We run a boutique guest house in this beautiful and rural part of South West France. We're looking for hard working, easy going people to assist and contribute to general DIY, gardening and in season (MAY-SEPT) help with breakfast service and cleaning of guest rooms.

Helpers need to have a sunny disposition as you maybe 'front of house' Previous hospitality experience is beneficial :)

The work in the summer would particularly suit two girls travelling together (shared room) or a couple. Outside of the season the work is more DIY and garden focused and we can host solo travellers as well as friends/couples.

We are able to offer stays of two weeks outside of the season and between May-Sept we need people to stay for minimum 8 weeks.

Generous meals/food to cook provided throughout your stay.

Our house is secluded so own transport would be a major bonus , however we are happy once or twice a week to offer lifts to the station and you would be welcome to hop in wi... more inside

If you are proactive, dynamic, initiative takers and autonomous people, then you are most than welcome here !

Coline (2008), Milan (2009), Guillaume (1985) and Manon (1987) will be happy to host you. Children are homeschooled and they are here only very other week.

We like our hosts to be as members of our family : help with daily chores, teaching things to the children...

We love music (Guillaume and I play piano and accordion, Coline pays trumpet), boardgames, reading, and learning new things.
We try to be zero waste as much as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTICE : we have composting toilet in order to spoil less water.

We live in a nice and shiny family house. It's in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by trees, forest, river, waterfall and no shops ;-)

We have a big garden and many animals : cats, dog, horse, donkeys, hens, goat, rabbits, sheeps, and sometimes pigs...
