**free from middle of November 2019

Hello! Rolf and I are two working people who are starting an avocado orchard. We have a large veggie garden and 14ha property. We are seeking help with developing the orchard, tending the trees, land and garden. We have a warm and cosy cabin. It is private, and has a deck.

The guest cabin is near the main building which is a shared space and helpers have full use of all facilities (WiFi included). Happy to share the cooking, it would be so nice to try some new dishes! There is internet at the house, and excellent cell phone coverage.

The guest cabin has recently gained power, and has light, and a 2x USB chargers. There is a queen bed, so as long as two peole don't mind sharing then it's suitable for two. Space for storing clothes and belongings as well. Lovely outlook onto wide open views. Keen for helpers that like to socialise and have outdoor adventures as Rolf and I enjoy the spoils of the Northland environment. Pottery, wood wo... more inside

Our wee rural Croft is situated on the Tutukaka Coast, outside of Whangarei; surrounded by pastures, paddock, and bush; with plenty of walking tracks out the back gate and a string of beaches starting a 5-minute drive down the hill. We aim for sustainability and a low impact footprint on the land.
We have raised bed gardens, terraces, orchards, ducks in the pond, chickens and 2 young dogs, a sacred grove, native bush, and a babbling brook.
Accommodation may be a sleep out, the boat house, a room in the main house or a yurt. Must be happy to work independently on specific jobs.

There is always something to do here and we could use some help: skills, and knowledge with
- carpentry, painting, gardening, cooking, cleaning and animal upkeep, gardening and landscaping.
- One yurt is up, two to go and finish out with mud brick courtyard, landscaping, toilet block, etc.
- If you would like to experience the wild NZ bush whilst learning how to trap Possums there is an opportunity h... more inside

Waipu Caves Lodge and "the Universitree" are to be established as a supportive refuge for self discovery and healing through a deep connection with nature.

Set amongst the majestic limestone formations and sacred underground passageways of Waipu Caves, the property rests on 14 hectares of native bush and pasture. The huge limestone cave system covers some four square kilometres and is home to millions of glow worms adorning the cavernous ceilings and freshwater koura in the chilly pools below.

A retreat centre, an arboretum and an outdoor experiential learning centre are to be established on the site. The Lodge will be home to ‘The Universitree’, a place where people will come as "disciples" of the trees in order to understand themselves and enter into a multidimensional and reciprocal learning process.

Our project is just beginning. Right now there is nothing on the land except the trees, the grass and the birds. This summer we will start making our dream a reality - and w... more inside

We run a small beachside farm in the beautiful Whangarei Heads right on the Te Araroa trail.

We are raising guinea fowl and growing several hundred trees in preparation for reforrestation of our block.

We are looking for 6 hours help per day for 1-4 weeks with activities ranging from gardening and construction to painting and simple household tasks such as cooking & cleaning.

We are at the farm from Thursday’s to Sunday’s, the rest of the week you are in charge :)

If you don’t have a vehicle and are heading North we can provide transport from Auckland to Whangarei Heads on Thursday’s and if you are heading South we can provide transport from the heads down to Auckland on Sundays

The farm is 30 minutes drive from Whangarei, a 10 minute drive to the nearby village and a 15min cycle to the closest store.

We are a well travelled couple in our 60s and are establishing the garden in our new home. Help appreciated with weeding, mulching and planting, and general tidying up.

We offer you self-contained accommodation and, according to other HelpXers, the meals we cook are great.

We live in Mangawhai where there are superb surf beaches and we are approximately 90 minutes north of Auckland. As we live in a rural area having your own transport is an advantage.

We envisage that guests would stay one to two weeks.

Kia Ora Help Exchangers. I am your host, Darwin, and I am living on a 20 ha rural life-style property on the wild West Coast, just 15 km south-west of Te Kopuru (see map) and Dargaville (Northland). I had a career in medical and scientific research and was a medical school professor for nearly 25 years. Now I spend my time doing artwork in clay, bronze metal and wood. I am happy to teach you some of these skills as well during your visit.

I am happy to host HelpX workers/guests that are capable of supervised and/or unsupervised outdoor work on the property that would include brush clearance, earthwork building trails to the beach, and general outdoor works and some housework (spring cleaning). I have a great workshop for artwork if you are interested in this during your leisure time.

I expect HelpX guests to be gay-friendly or gay-accepting. In addition, HelpX Guests should like dogs, as my "girls" (Siberian Huskies) have free range of the home, and there is dog-fur ever... more inside
