The Wairarapa is a large region with a very low population with an average of 7 people per kilometre. There is transport to the area but transport around the Wairarapa is minimal so getting around without a car is extremely difficult. Kia Ora Koutou

We are YOUNG couple in our early 40s with four children aged 16, 14, 11 and 10. We manage a large sheep and cattle station on the Coast of the lower North Island with 20,000 stock units of sheep and beef cattle. Check out the station facebook page "owahanga station" for more information.

We are looking for helpers to come and stay with us and help out with farm tasks, gardening, farm maintenance and general tasks around the home. There is lots of variation in the types of jobs that we need help with and anyone with practical skills and experience would be super. Working with livestock does require skills and experience so sometimes it is not possible for helpers to work with the stock much but that is not always the case and at certain times of the year, there will be plenty of work with stock to do. However, there are plenty of other tasks to do like cutting and stacking wood, painting, weed spraying and the like if there isn't much happening with stock.

Sorry no space available at the moment. If you are keen on being part of finishing our Straw Bale house or just helping out with our animals and gardening, this is the place for you. We are a down to earth kiwi family of five who live on a unique block of land just an hour north of our creative capital Wellington.

We run a local tourist attraction by the name of Loco. A 1/4 acre of miniature railway running through themed surroundings in lush gardens. There is also a newly developed petting zoo which is getting lots of smiles.

We also have an organic garden which we use for ourselves and trade for local produce.

You'll be accomodated in your own room with en-suite bathroom in our straw bale house with views of the ranges and Kapiti Island.

Most of the work we would ask you to do is in the garden, general weeding and tidying, some firewood chopping, animal care and help with finishing our Strawbale house. If you can cook, that would be a bonus.

We live 6 kms from ... more inside

This is a small, very private and peaceful property on the edge of a protected wetland of regional significance, five minutes from the Otaki rail station and inland from the coast. It supports domestic vegetable gardens, a small orchard, and firewood trees in addition to the wetland margin and native replanting. Help needed with these activities (garden preparation and maintenance, firewood (cutting, stacking, moving) wetlands (weeding and replanting) as well as domestic chores such as house maintenance (window washing, repainting, home handy person repairs).
Accommodation is in a charming, private, stand alone cottage with new bathroom and stovetop cooking facilities located beside the main house. It has one double bed and a sofa bed as well as table and chairs and sunny decks with views into the orchard and beyond. Our guests tell us the meals we provide are very good.

******March 2020 Update*******
We are looking for people that have their own camper van, caravan, tent or mobile home to stay with us.
We don't have accomodation available in the house currently due to renovations but you are welcome to use all our facilities. We have a good flat parking area next to the house and even a camper power point available. We will of course cover all meals and you are welcome to do laundry.
At the moment we really need some help with our gardens as full time work off farm and homeschooling is not giving us enough time. We have a greenhouse, a large berry house and now want to establish more perennial gardens.

We are a 5 person family that lives and co-parents together. John is working on setting up New Zealand's largest cricket farm, Dave runs a tech company and Karen is home with the girls. We have our 2 gorgeous daughters - Holly (7) and Lexie (4). Holly is homeschooled and Lexie is at preschool only 3 days a week, so we would love ... more inside

My place is on the Kapiti coast about 5km north of the township of Waikanae. The property is one and a half hectares in extent planted with mainly native trees. The front boundary is on Peka Peka Beach looking out to Kapiti Island. The houses at Peka Peka have to be set back from the shore so they cannot be seen from the beach which thus has a remote feel and is a good place for walks, swimming, gathering shellfish or just sitting contemplating.

Helpers stay in a self contained cottage which has its own kitchen and bathroom and laundry. There is a separate bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. The house I live in was built on top of the cottage and is connected to it by a stair way. I have been letting the cottage to visitors through airb&b and have had excellent reviews about the facilities and the general environment and character of the property. I do not allow smoking.

My wife is in permanent care and I am living here on my own. Helpers need to cater for t... more inside

We are a 70 year old Christian couple, managing a privately owned retreat and large Heritage forest bush covered property close to the entrance of the Tararua Forest Park. We are in walking distance to tracks in the Forest Park and the Otaki River.

We share the home, 2 huts, 2 caravans and a converted container with individuals and groups who come for prayer, retreats, meetings and/or rest and recreation.

Our off grid house heats the water and creates electricity. We have limited broadband internet access with a voice over phone. Cellphone coverage is limited here.

Most work consists of autumn pruning of trees that have grown over the summer on tracks, weather permitting plus other odd jobs including in the garden. We have young moscovy ducks, 2 bee hives ( honey has just been extracted) and 3 hens.
We can arrange to collect you from Otaki 15 km away, the Intercity bus stops there.

We welcome singles or married couples.
Short stays are ok.

We are on a sheep and beef farm located under the Ruahine ranges around 30 mins from Pahiatua and 40 mins from Palmerston North/Masterton.
We have two young children, 5 and 3 who are at school during the day. Henry works on the farm while Louise worlds from home.
We have a huge garden and are looking for people who are keen for short term stay in return for a few hours in the garden each day. There might also be the odd farm job pop up but mainly we need people keen to be in a garden! Chainsaw experience might be useful.
We are keen to have our weekends at home to ourselves so ideally looking for people who like to go out and explore on sat/sundays. Tidy and clean accommodation in our house will be provided along with breakfast/lunch/dinner. Shared bathroom with the kids. Suitable for a couple or single but can also make arrangements for friends but you will have to share a room.
