Tena koutou katoa!
Bonjour a tous!
Hullo everyone!

#Warning# ;-)
We enjoy working hard and you will need to as well. We like to host people who are interested in our way of life. We do most things by hand, even if it takes a while sometimes!

We CURRENTLY have lots of fencing and some building work to do. We are looking for help through spring and summer with gardening and turning trees into firewood.
There will be some orchard maintenance too as well as the usual stuff we try to do!
Experience with a chainsaw would be great, but not essential.

Cooking is on a wood stove, we have a solar panel, no machinery other than a chainsaw, no internet, cellphone reception is limited, no washing machine, no flush toilet. So be warned, it's not everyone's cup of tea! If that sounds okay, read on...

Welcome to our Farm and Camping Ground. Meet all the lovely guests coming to this beautiful place located on the Ninety Mile Beach. We have a wilderness camping ground, a very small backpackers and small farm. We are about one hour drive south of Cape Reinga. The Ninety Mile Beach is in front of our farm and ideal for long walks, fishing and for collecting shellfish. Our location is a very good base to explore close surrounding beaches like Rarawa Beach famous for surfing and Henderson Bay and Pukenui for swimming. We like to offer you a helpers position in the Far North with lots of nature around us. A wilderness farm with horses, cows, chickens and dogs. Work with us for 3 or more days and then have one day off to explore the surrounding. Take a day trip to Cape Reinga and to Te Paki Sand Dunes, to Spirits Bay or to Rarawa Beach. View the sunset over the 90 Mile Beach from our helpx kitchen. Gather seafood and prepare it as delicious fritter (guided).

Rural and scenic. Plenty to do and see.
We are farming with several pieces of land within 15km of each other. We have dairy farms, beef farm and we breed and compete horses. Currently we have plenty of horses that need riding. In April and August we will have cows calving - come and enjoy the joy of birth and raising calves. From August onwards there will be foals being born too.
We are very busy both on the farm and with horses and horse events. Helping opportunities range from housework, gardening, lawns, farming tasks, to the chance for confident horse people to get involved with our horses.
We are close to Waipoua Forest, Trounsen Kauri Park and the west coast beach. BUT we are 12km from the closest shop and 40km from the town of Dargaville.
A drivers license would be an asset.

We overlook the beautiful Opua Harbour in the famous "Bay of Islands". We have stunning views! Check our reviews! We are situated at OKIATO - the site of the FIRST CAPITAL OF NZ. We are 10 min from the Russell township. Our home is warm and comfortable. We have broadband internet service and WIFI.

We are quite remote, so it is preferable if you have your own transport.

Duties while staying with us will include gardening, cleaning and general maintenance of our property. We can also make use of trades people such as electricians or plumbers from time to time.

I offer 4 hours work a day for meals and accommodation. I am not always here for meals but will leave food for the days I am away.

Activities in the Bay of Islands are plenty: swimming, kayaking, sailing sailboats, fishing, diving, walking in the nearby Kauri forest, hiking, horse trekking...

If you are in Kerikeri or Paihia, it is 10 min by car to go to the Opua Harbor (Intercity bus can drop you off near the O... more inside

We are a busy couple who live on a 10 acre plot of land close to the sea in Northland.

Our plot of land allows us to practice self sufficiency with a vegetable garden, orchard, cattle, sheep, chooks, ducks, a dog and cats. Our meals are home grown, we eat what we grow.

Each week (weather permitting) we fish commercially for flounder.

We ask for help in our garden, orchard, fishing, net making, general farm and everyday chores, repairs and maintenance both on the land and on the boat. We need 2 people for some tasks so couples or friends are what we prefer.

We also have a beautiful yacht which we enjoy sailing and relaxing on.

There is a stunning DOC walking track that starts on our boundary and there are lots of beautiful beaches within a 50km radius, and a beautiful surf beach - Taupo Bay 25 minutes away. We also have kayaks for your use.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Anne and Doug
