This mixed hill farm is home to 26 cows, a bull, two goats, a large flock of sheep ,bees, poultry, ducks, four cats and two dogs with their two owners and quite a lot of wildlife. The farm is certified organic/biodynamic. We use Biodynamic methods, have no machinery and work hard to try to grow vegetables, shiitake and fruit at 650` on a south facing hill in a glorious area of South West Scotland. We welcome non-smoking meat eating or vegetarian help. We are far from shops and transport, quiet - a great place to watch the stars!

There is always a lot to do and we need help now! If you would like to help us with our Biodynamic Preparations- we must perform this in the next few days/weeks you would learn about what and why we do it! We have planted some more fruit trees and generally tidied up after a very wet and windy winter but there is still a lot left to do before the end of Spring! We have some recycled timber which we would love to turn into duck and/or hen houses and th... more inside

We have availability from the 13th/14th June until the 22nd/23rd July for one more volunteer.

Then availability only from the 17th/18th September on wards. October, November and December are still free for those of you planning well ahead.

We cater for vegetarians and many special diets (especially Coeliacs) but unfortunately NOT vegans (as we use our delicious fresh eggs!). We are unable to provide Kosher or Halal food.

We bought a derelict smallholding not so long ago and moved in with all of our animals. We have a challenge doing it up at the same time as working and looking after the animals. We would love to welcome anyone who would help us tick a few jobs off the long list of things to do and get this place looking and working well again.
There are a variety of activities from animal care to restoring an organic vegetable patch, through to some outbuilding maintenance. The jobs will be as varied as the animals we keep.
We have alpacas, chickens, sheep, ducks, rabbits, cats, dogs and peafowl.
We have 7 cria due in 2019, so there will also be plenty of opportunities to help out with alpaca births and mating.

The accommodation is somewhat rustic, but that is only because we haven`t yet finished restoring the bungalow. You will be given an upstairs room and will share our downstairs shower room. We currently sleep in the living room. Upstairs is very much unfinished; it is nearly completely... more inside

I really enjoyed having some HelpXer guests here a couple of years ago! The garden needs some attention, I could do with a hand with practical tasks to enable me to give time to my creative professional life and I enjoyed having some interesting people around when I did HelpX before. So here might be an opportunity:

I am a professional photographer living in a (single-storey) cottage in the early 19th century conservation village of Charlestown built for lime workers by the Earl of Elgin on the banks of the River Forth. It is a friendly but quiet place, as is my home. (If you are a party animal, this is not the HelpX for you!) NON SMOKERS ONLY, please.

Jobs for an active, easy-going multi-tasker would include:
sanding and painting interior and exterior
window frames
dog walking
gardening - I would prefer someone with interest and experience in gardening, plants and vegetables. Weeding and general garden maintenance is always required.

Painting (and sanding do... more inside

Hello from Dave and Jan!
DO YOU REALLY LOVE DOGS? WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE WITH US AS PART OF OUR FAMILY?
We have availability from the beginning of June, and then mid August to the end of October.
We have 3 lovely dogs, chickens , ducks, ducks, sheep and lambs.
Our house is a dog hotel, with dogs staying with us for their holidays. The dogs are all in the house with us, so we prefer you to have some experience with dogs. Hi we are looking for some help with landscaping / improving our garden - nothing particularly skilled just a bit of time and hard work needs to be spent out there. At the moment we are preparing an area for paving so quite heavy work. Perhaps if you were a couple and the work in the garden was a little too strenuous for one of you, you could help inside the home a bit, preparing food, cleaning etc. You will be working mostly during the day whilst we are at work but we can work together during the weekend.
Don't worry google maps is out dated and we've done lots of improvements already! we'd hope that you like children, are enthusiastic, cheerful, able to work of initiative and independently. We are able to offer you a room (bunk beds) and use of our home facilities wifi etc along with breakfast and an evening meal each day. In exchange for 4/5 hours work a day with a couple of days off each week where you could explore the local city of Brighton, the south downs or even catch ... more inside

Mick and I live in an area close to Liverpool ,Chester and Manchester. We have a horse and 4 dogs and there are always small jobs which I need help with such as fencing ,gardening and general land maintenance .We grow our own vegetables too. My partner keeps vintage cars and sometimes needs help with them we use them throughout the summer so sometimes we will be able to take you out in one. We live in a very old house with not much heating so preferably we don't have people from November till April .Some of the work may be painting ,general maintenance etc The land has got out of control a bit this summer so theres a lot of wood chopping ,grass cutting and bonfires to do we usually suggest working for 5/6 hours one day with the next day off for sightseeing. We never ask anyone to do anything we would not do ourselves .We have space for anyone with a camper van. Wales and the Lake District are all within easy reach . You will have your own comfortable room we have wi fi .We provi... more inside
