Visiting our Farm is like taking a journey back in time and is home to many beautiful Arabian horses. Set in classical 18 century Parkland in the rolling hills of East Devon there is an element of magic in the landscape, old buildings and the animals which include a small herd of suckle cows and their calves who need care and attention. The old cobbled yard sets the scene complete with farm chickens roaming free and a beautiful cat! Come and join our hard working, loyal and friendly team to care for the horses and other animals. We prefer those who have previous experience with horses or practical farm or building skills – there is always something to renovate or mend! Long stays much preferred – usually a minimum of 3 weeks but the longer the better. Friendly, communicative people looking for hard working, honest helpers willing to muck in, learn and care about animals and their welfare. There’s also lots of land management this year – sorting out fencing, firewood, brambles i... more inside

We are full now until January so are looking for people to fill our diary for 2019. We are close to town and sea with Dartmoor nearby.

Whilst we do prefer longer stays we will take people for as little as 3 weeks. But not less than 3 weeks, we find that the early days can be difficult for everyone and it takes a while to get to know each other. It also takes time for helpers to learn the routines.

Philosophy:
We have a small holding in Devon where we aim to grow as much of our own food as we can in an organic and sustainable way. So we have a small orchard a Kitchen Garden for vegetable growing, a fruit garden for soft fruit plus half an acre of flower gardens. We also have poultry (Chickens, various ducks, and geese) and there are bees which belong to a friend. The poultry are not for eating, but do provide us with a plentiful supply of eggs for most of the year.
Although not self sufficient in fruit and vegetables we do try to grow what we can, so there is usually fresh v... more inside

We live on a beautiful farm near Ullapool in the Highlands of Scotland surrounded by hills by a sea loch and with a lively village seven miles away. Accommodation is usually a mobile home with a shower and heating, adjacent to the farmhouse but warmer arrangements are made in the winter. We farm sheep and cows, and help is needed with feeding them, fencing, basic joinery and general farm work as well as drivng, and sometimes helping with the NHS hindcull, which is an amazing experience. Helpxes generally enjoy themselves and we have enjoyed having them. The highland experience is very unique, the people interesting and friendly. There will be an experienced supervisor and the next door farms have volunteers too who will socialise with those helping here in the local village which has live music. We find helpxes over 25 as they can drive on our insurance most suitable and those who like the outdoor life and are strong fit, responsible and eager to learn new skills enjoy themselves th... more inside

We bought a derelict smallholding not so long ago and moved in with all of our animals. We have a challenge doing it up at the same time as working and looking after the animals. We would love to welcome anyone who would help us tick a few jobs off the long list of things to do and get this place looking and working well again.
There are a variety of activities from animal care to restoring an organic vegetable patch, through to some outbuilding maintenance. The jobs will be as varied as the animals we keep.
We have alpacas, chickens, sheep, ducks, rabbits, cats, dogs and peafowl.
We have 7 cria due in 2019, so there will also be plenty of opportunities to help out with alpaca births and mating.

The accommodation is somewhat rustic, but that is only because we haven`t yet finished restoring the bungalow. You will be given an upstairs room and will share our downstairs shower room. We currently sleep in the living room. Upstairs is very much unfinished; it is nearly completely... more inside

This is a homestay in Hampshire, surrounded by open countryside and with a large garden. ***Please note that there are no remaining opportunities for Helpxers in 2018*** so I am looking at April 2019 and beyond. It would ideally suit someone who is open-minded and aged around 18 to 40.

My name`s Anthony; born in the UK in the 1950s I moved from London to Hampshire in October 2014. There is a variety of work to do here. When the weather is good enough we will be looking after the garden; clearing the weeds, tending the vegetable patch, building fences, chopping wood, cutting the grass, raking up the leaves, planting shrubs and trimming hedges. Inside the house there will be general cleaning and helping to prepare meals. Usually we would work as a team but it helps if you can self-motivate and work alone sometimes.

You have your own room and all meals provided, in return for just a few hours of work on five days a week; plenty of free time each day and days off to go to London o... more inside

We are a small independent hostel /budget accommodation in the countryside on the cycle track 5miles/8kms from York city centre. We live in an old railway station which we are trying to renovate and develop as a small hostel.

We currently need people to help with the cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, room changes, gardening and generally keeping the place under control.

We also need someone who can take over from our current manager and run the place . there would be a small additional payment for this.

There is also some maintenance and building work for people with the right skills.

The work is based on 4 hours a day 5 days per week mostly on a morning but depending on the project we can be flexible
We provide basic food provisions but you will need to cook for yourselves.
Because we are very small the accommodation is is basic and may be in a shared helpx room but there is full use of all house facilities - kitchen ,lounge , wifi washing machine... more inside

I am a live aboard a house boat owner on Thames river in SW London, having designed built them myself with many reused windows e.g. double glazing and kitchens. As its in water we are all here at our own risk. My four house Barges (House boats) have young mixed sex, mixed nations tenants, ages 18 to 35 in SW London. That is my business renting cabins. they are currently on Thames SW London zone 6, near Hampton Court and Kingston, you might cycle between them and stay on different barges so come with a back pack not suitcase! I am direct (do not take it personally), chatty, opinionated, interesting, fun, single with children that live with their wonderful mums, that do not visit often as they are dispersed sadly. Originally from rugged New Zealand, Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud, kiwi fruit, All Blacks, Alpes, volcanoes, deserted beaches, lakes earthquakes and a whole lot else! I like exercise, boating, cycling, rugby, history, parks, going to movies, pubs. You will learn much... more inside
