Hi, my name is Andy and I have been a hosting people for around 6 years on this site and through other organisations as well. I have been lucky as during this time most of the people who have stayed here have become great friends and have left me with some great memories.

I am a liberal person who appreciates spending my time with people with a similar outlook on life, people who want to learn more about this strange and wonderful planet we all occupy. People who care about others and want to learn more about themselves. I consider myself a well-educated person and believe that life is a continual learning experience, I have learnt a lot from my time hosting people and so the journey continues :-)

I like listening to the music of most genres, watching a good film, writing, watching documentaries, current affairs, psychology, history, politics, philosophy, reading and anything technical. I have a good sense of humour, I like to share a joke and tell a story. I like to laugh and... more inside

We need someone or a couple to help with gardening from September but at all times of year. We have a pottery to get involved with too.

We'd also like you to help at the new community storehouse. A fantastic way to meet local people.

Our big old house is tucked behind the main street with frequent buses to Edinburgh.

We look for enthusiasm. Experience of gardening, building, housework and decorating is a bonus but not vital. If you are interested in local culture and history and are happy to work unsupervised, you'll be needed!

We are about 45 minutes from Edinburgh by frequent bus. Accommodation for 1 or for 2 sharing a room for 2 - 4 weeks. We provide vegetarian meals.

We are involved in our local community, a group restoring the vast Lost Garden of Penicuik (a nearby Victorian walled garden) growing food. Helpers have dug, planted, harvested, cooked and sold produce for 5 years now. We have built several hugel beds there (hugelkultur) and if anyone would like to... more inside

The Presbytery is an old vicarage now used as our home with a large garden, tennis court, field and some woodland. We - Penny (now retired from working in our National Health Service) and Frank (retired from working in education) - are an older but active couple and we will welcome anyone to help us maintain the property (outside and inside). The garden and outside areas - especially around the tennis court (which may be used) and field need clearing of undergrowth and adjacent trees pruned back and needs general upkeep. Inside the house needs some decorating and other general maintenance work. Penny has some health issues and cannot tolerate cigarette smoke, so there cannot be smoking anywhere in the house.

The Presbytery is in the East Sussex countryside (classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty) and public transport is quite limited. However, we do have two bicycles that can be borrowed and there are beautiful walks nearby. We can reach the railway station in about... more inside

Mick and I live in an area close to Liverpool ,Chester and Manchester. We have a horse and 4 dogs and there are always small jobs which I need help with such as fencing ,gardening and general land maintenance .We grow our own vegetables too. My partner keeps vintage cars and sometimes needs help with them we use them throughout the summer so sometimes we will be able to take you out in one. We live in a very old house with not much heating so preferably we don't have people from November till April .Some of the work may be painting ,general maintenance etc The land has got out of control a bit this summer so theres a lot of wood chopping ,grass cutting and bonfires to do we usually suggest working for 5/6 hours one day with the next day off for sightseeing. We never ask anyone to do anything we would not do ourselves .We have space for anyone with a camper van. Wales and the Lake District are all within easy reach . Looking for help, mainly gardening and animal care for September and beyond

I am in The South West of England lovely spot close to Dartmoor National Park and also the Devon/Cornwall border in the country? Very scenic close to great walking country.

You need to have a good command of the English language please and be a non smoker please.

Help is needed for ongoing gardening work and help looking after ducks and chickens cats and dogs all the animals here are free range and pets. I eat meat but none of my own birds.

If you love animals and gardens you will fit right in here. Do you know the difference between plants and weeds?

The garden is open to the public for charity (a local hospice) it is very large and needs year round maintenance which can be heavy and often dirty work. I also have animals to look after but they do not take as much time to see to as the garden so if you don`t like to garden then this would not suit you. It would also only be good if you ... more inside
