UPDATES-IMPORTANT:

*** We are looking for 1 or 2 helpers ASAP

We cannot take more than 3 helpers, but here you can check when the next ones are leaving so you can apply for those positions:

*** 50% DAYS OFF: 2 of the helpers can have 50% of days off and of course we still give the money for food those days. We will explain it better in the whatsapp interview
* Ideally minimum stay 4 weeks.
* We don't plan too far ahead as all depends on how long the current helpers are staying or extending but you can try since sometimes we have last minute vacancies

+++ At the moment the help required is very easy: Basically 3-4h cleaning in the morning since we have 2 managers doing morning/evening shifts for the welcoming's apart from 3pm till 6.30pm that both managers are busy and 1 helper should be around, or when managers have days off that a helper should be around till midnight unless we are fully booked and all welcomings have been done, and of course that day you don't have ... more inside

We have nearly finished building a timber workshop and will soon have a good woodworking shop. Next we will be refurbishing an old shop building and a Showman's Wagon. We are moving our home towards being off-grid: digging the well and getting a pump working, increasing solar hot water capacity and installing photo-voltaic panels.
We have a few chickens plus Eva dog and Eric the cat. We have a large garden with a vegetable plot. We enjoy life: working hard, meeting new people and cycling around the South West, especially if it involves a good Somerset pub... We need help with carpentry and building projects, gardening, dog-walking. We can consider long term stays after a trial period.

We are happy to help people learn English and suggest ways to discover our area. We can lend bikes for helpers to get around and explore the countryside. Our village is small and quiet and the area is very beautiful. Somerset is a county with many contrasts: hills, moors, coast and towns.

*** Looking for someone to help over the winter period. From November onwards, we need someone who has some outdoor experience, needing someone who can help with fencing etc. OR with gardening.

We are close to town and sea with Dartmoor nearby.

Whilst we do prefer longer stays we will take people for as little as 3 weeks. But not less than 3 weeks, we find that the early days can be difficult for everyone and it takes a while to get to know each other. It also takes time for helpers to learn the routines.

Philosophy:
We have a small holding in Devon where we aim to grow as much of our own food as we can in an organic and sustainable way. So we have a small orchard a Kitchen Garden for vegetable growing, a fruit garden for soft fruit plus half an acre of flower gardens. We also have poultry (Chickens, various ducks, and geese) and there are bees which belong to a friend. The poultry are not for eating, but do provide us with a plentiful supply of eggs for most of the yea... more inside

***Sorry, not currently accepting helpers due to covid situation***

We're a multi-generational household looking for someone helpful and relaxed to come and stay for a week or so. There's lots to get involved with including various garden projects, hanging out with a 1 year old, helping with some housework and potentially sharing permaculture-inspired design ideas for our beautiful but underused space.

In return for an average of 5 hours work a day (we can be flexible with how this is spread through the week) we can offer you your own room, meals together in the evening and all your food while you're in the house in a peaceful rural location with frequent trains to London half an hour's walk away (always happy to give you a lift into town if we're around).

Our house is friendly and warm and a bit of a mess and there are often people popping in and there's a barbecue and a firepit and we'll drink together and we eat meat and we have a mad cat - if all this sounds like you... more inside
