Dear HelpX volunteers,

Hope you are all well and looking forward to a trip to the Far North of Scotland.

Vacancies from 10th of August- November 2018: 4 days of 6 hours workig followed by 4 days off or 4 hours work on a daily base. But we are flexible.

Armadale House BandB had the first HelpX volunteers in 2012. HelpX volunteers from all over the world came and helped out. A great experience not only for the BandB, but also for the volunteers.

The North Coast of Scotland is a brilliant place to do hill walking, surfing, bird watching, painting and photography.

HelpX volunteers mostly stay for a couple of weeks or even longer.

Basics tasks for the volunteers:
Changing beds, cleaning the BandB rooms, do the laundry and help serving breakfast.

In case the BandB is not to busy, there are always other jobs to do, just tell us your talents/skills and we will see if it fits in.

We will do our best to give you a great time to explore this remote corner of the... more inside

*** WE DO NOT NEED ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS AT THE MOMENT ***

WHO WE ARE
We are an animal charity in Aberdeenshire, about one hour away from Aberdeen in a rural area with limited, but reliable, public transport. A local bus can be arranged on your days off to pick you up to go to places (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness, Edinburgh, the North Coast, the Scottish Highlands). We have a large pack of large dogs, two handfuls of cats who think they rule the place, one grumpy rabbit, some horses (not trained for riding), and a few dozen birds of prey (which you will not work with).

You will have to bring one (or more)of the following skills:
- gardening experience
- basic construction / building / carpentry(for building new bird pens and dog kennels)
- fencing (we need to take down some fences and put up some new ones)
- breaking in horses that have never been worked with

Because of disappointing experiences with people who only stay a short time (they have no motivation to actu... more inside

Hello, thank you for looking at our listing.

We are Cathy (39) and little boy who is 6 years old and home-educated. We live in a beautiful little cottage slap bang in the middle of a nature reserve.

We like to have 2 helpers so friends are welcome to apply, alternatively we are happy to take 2 single travellers - but please be aware you may need to share a sleeping area with another helper (who we will ensure is the same sex and similar age to you.)

We do not take helpers without seeing pictures, so if you do not have photos on your profile, please let us know your Facebook page or other.

Sleeping accommodation will most likely be a small (landed) boat in the garden, but with full access to the house 24 hours a day.

We have a big kitchen, sitting room (with X-box, Wii and internet TV) and big garden as well as of course plenty of amazing countryside so you are definitely not going to feel cooped up. We also have a bath with unlimited hot water at any time of day ... more inside

** we have recently started doing a B and B in addition to our usual business In the bothy that adjoins our house so help with change overs is great in addition to other bits and pieces. The changeover usually only takes a couple of hours and then just doing the laundry etc, this with walking our wee dogs is going to be a typical day. Itís a small bothy so easy to clean etc. Pretty easy going :)

(Also have a second hand yurt to build but a couple of bits need fixing first)

About our place
Leckmelm Farm is situated just south if Ullapool in the north west highlands. Itís possible to travel in a day trip from here to places like Applecross, The Isle of Skye, Cape wrath, Tounge,, Kintail (Eilean Donnan castle), the ferry to the Iisle of Lewis is from Ullapool and takes around 3 hours a crossing. Leckmelm is a good base to have. (Scott can usually take volunteers on a day trip if here for 2 weeks or more)

We want you to enjoy your time here, at the same time as us getting... more inside

Lyn and I run two self-catering holiday lodges a few metres from loch ness. These can be booked for a minimum of 1 night so we have constant changeovers during the weeks of the high season. We are looking for one or two people to work with us FROM MID NOVEMBER 2018. We will provide accommodation plus food (I am a vegan and Lyn eats most things) for you to cook using your own kitchen for approx 2 to 4 hours work per day. This is to do changeovers in the lodges, check-in guests, washing and ironing and help with gardening, veggie plot, general maintenance, etc. The location is good as you will be able to walk, cycle, run the Great Glen Way which runs through the forest behind the lodge and pick mushrooms in the forest. There is free WIFI and free parking if you have a car. Your accommodation is a very lovely and comfortable self-contained Shepherds Hut which has a double bed, kitchen and shower room. Our location is approx 5 mins drive from the nearest village so we would help with t... more inside

We live in a lovely rural location five miles from the town of Oban, on the West coast of Scotland. We have a naturalistic garden and a separate vegetable patch as well as an extensive wildflower meadow and native woodland. We try to manage our land to encourage the greatest biodiversity. We need help from the middle of September onwards with feeding and mulching the garden, mowing & strimming the long grass as well as cutting and splitting firewood, and some house maintenance. We are looking for 1 or 2 cheerful, adaptable, nonsmoking omnivores who will help us for an average of 25 hrs or so per week (jobs are very weather dependent). We prefer people to come for one to two weeks. You would live as part of our family with accommodation and all meals provided in our modern home, with free wifi. Oban is known as the Gateway to the Isles and is a great centre for exploring the West Highlands.
We are now retired but spent our working life running a big charter yacht which means... more inside

This mixed hill farm is home to 16 cows, a bull, two goats, a large flock of sheep ,bees, poultry, ducks, five cats and two dogs with their two owners and quite a lot of wildlife. The farm is certified organic/biodynamic. We use Biodynamic methods, have no machinery and work hard to try to grow vegetables, shiitake and fruit at 650` on a south facing hill in a glorious area of South West Scotland. We welcome non-smoking meat eating or vegetarian help. We are far from shops and transport, quiet - a great place to watch the stars!

There is always a lot to do and we need help now! If you would like to help us with our Biodynamic Preparations you would learn aabout what and why we do! We hope to plant some more fruit trees and generally tidy up after a very wet winter. We have some recycled timber which we would love to turn into duck and/or hen houses and there is always fencing to renovate or dykes to repair!

We welcome people who like to get `stuck in`. Right n... more inside
