AUGUST UPDATE We're running a Permaculture Design Course on site 17th-28th August 2018. Could you help us in the kitchen or with the animals then?

** Live in vehicles always very welcome **

We`re looking for help with a family run permaculture project begun 2008. The land comprises agricultural and forestry land, all of which we intend to make productive over the coming months and years.

We currently have goats, sheep, pigs, bees, cats, dogs, chickens, geese, guinea pigs and ducks. Long term volunteers may have the opportunity to milk goats and make cheese if they`d like to.

Current projects include renovating the house, installing irrigation systems including RAM pumps, starting new vegetable gardens, planting native trees, building animal shelters, clearing forest, soil improvement and, well, just about everything else!! There`s no shortage of different things to do, and lots of variety. Both skilled and unskilled help welcomed, experience isn`t required. We ask that... more inside

We are a couple in our late 30ís/early 40ís living in Central Portugal on a four acre farm. We have been here for five years producing our own meat, growing our own vegetables and trying to do everything as naturally and chemically free as we can, all off grid.

At the moment May/June we are working on getting all the land tidied now spring is here. There is lots of strimming and weeding to be done, summer planting in the vegetable patch and gardens. Ponds to be tidied.
We are also looking to try and dig a new pond and animal house to start a set up for duckponics, like hydroponics but with ducks!
There is always lots of day to day stuff to done here and hopefully we can make the days as varied as possible whilst hopefully learning new things from each other!
We have a yurt that you can stay in and an outdoor kitchen and bbq area to use. There is a composting toilet, solar shower and wood fired bath by the yurt. These are all for private use, we have our own set up further up ... more inside

Having 3ha in a beautiful Valley watching the Gardunha mountains, with lots of green and water. Plenty of camping spots and potentially structures. Trying to be self sustainable as much as possible.
Looking for short and long term people who would like to stay and live on the land, all happy and good together :)
We built a self-sustainable Earthship building starting from an existing stone ruin and a team of volunteers, supervised by Michael Reynolds and carried out by a group of experienced European Earthship builders. At the moment still need plenty of help to finish the build, interior and exterior, and learning a lot about Earthship as a result. Also there is a permaculture garden which needs more attention...
I have a 4 years old girl, so also kids are welcome :)

Small organic farm with animals. We have a luxury caravan for helpers to stay in(it has an out side bathroom and kitchen area as well as the ones in the caravan. We require person/persons to help run our small farm and duties would be planting, weeding, watering, helping construct animal shelters and occasional feeding of animals. Occasionally looking after the farm over night so we can have a break. Must be dog friendly!!!!!!This is a working farm and as such the proper working cloths and footwear(boots)are essential. In the past helpers who turned up with just flipflops made it clear they were not here to help but to try and have a free holiday. We are not a campsite(FREE) for travelers.Genuine helpers are always welcome. We expect you to pay for yourself on days out although we do provide three good meals a day with drinks when you are on our farm. We have had people who come with no money and expect us to keep them even on their days away from the farm.(we are not your parents)A... more inside

Hello Helpers and travellers of the world,
our farm is situated South Portugal, close to the border between Alentejo and Algarve. Because we are in between two beautiful landscapes they collide and the diversity is enormous. We have Oak trees, Medronho, Willow, Eucalyptus, Fruit trees and a diverse flora of shrubs and bushes. We also host a number of wild animals such as wild deer, foxes, mongoose and many birds.

We live close to Saboia, Odemira and it`s a bit of the grid. But we do have all you might need: water, electricity, internet, and all the commodities a house needs. For accommodation we have a apartment attached to the house with kitchen and living room, bedroom and bathroom.

We live with animals and among them are: dogs and cats who live inside the house. Three cats and 3 dogs, all very friendly. Chickens and goats. We are really animal friendly, but we find it hard to host vegans, as we are omnivorous and eat a little bit of everything.

For this working seaso... more inside

Thank you for your interest in volunteering this summer

Here is some general infomation about the placement and answers some frequently asked questions. Please read carefully!
i would be keen to talk about the placement through skype.

We run a small popular canoeing and kayaking centre run from my small farm. The farm is 15 mins from Oliveira do Hospital and 20 mins from Tabua and the river Mondego in Central Portugal.

As a team, we prepare canoes and kayaks for day trips and multi day kayak camping trips. The journeys are self guided so our work is mainly preparing boats and equipment, transporting them to the river and picking up canoeists from a meeting point in Tabua where they leave their cars. We brief and instruct the groups at the river and meet them at the finish point.

The most important aspect of volunteering is that clients are met with friendly and professional people at the beginning and end of their canoe trip. A mobile phone is provided with the vehic... more inside

We are a self supporting organic farm and our main activity is goat cheese production. Our farm exists since 1984, when we built our farm starting just with a few goats. Nowadays, the farm accounts more than 100 goats, 10 black pigs and 20 chickens.
We are located in a small valley near a water reservoir, and the entire farm is surrounded by forest and different types of agrarian and wild landscape. Our land is built in small terraces, where we grow all the vegetables we eat, fruits, corn for bread baking, olives for oil and grapes for juice, additionally we also grow all the animal feed we need for our livestock.
Almost all of our food comes from our farm, which includes vegetables, olive oil, pig, chicken and goat meat. During all year we need help from volunteers in a variety of activities, which includes planting, weeding, watering, crop harvesting, cutting food for the animals, making hay, olive harvesting, cleaning manure out of the stables, grape juice making, amongst oth... more inside
