Cosy house with one guestroom and a small olive yard mixed with subtropical plants and trees. 3 rescued dogs and a cat.
Short stays 2-3 weeks. Help needed with gardening, general maintenance and pet care (in 2019 10 m2 wall tiling, 10m2 plastering with loam, fencing in the garden)

The house is situated in a small secluded village with only 15 inhabitants, in central Portugal. From the house various short walks can be made off road, also longer walks with description available. Touristic sites at only 1 hour by car.

If pet sitting is the main objective your stay in the house is free of chores but self catered; a car of your own would be useful. Next period for pet sitting will be March 15th until April 2nd 2019

Starting 11 October I need help in house and garden and with walking the dogs because I will be recorvering from a broken leg.

For November 2018 I need 2 helpers for olive picking.

We live in a beautiful small hamlet nestled in the hills of central Portugal. There are four houses which until recently lay abandoned for 60 years. The river Pera runs through the valley (we have a great swimming hole) and a spring delivers our drinking water. We, Miguel and Shobha, live here with our seven year old son, Saul, and four year old daughter, Anaya, and are restoring part of the hamlet and reclaiming the land. We are planting trees, setting up an organic permaculture garden and provide a retreat and workshop space.

Helpers are needed for a vast array of tasks! These include landscaping, clearing, cleaning, cooking, childcare, gardening, tree-felling, pointing, dry-wall restoration ... and more! Accomodation is either in tipis or a self-contained room. The set up is basic but comfortable. We have a solar set up for electricity & wifi. We will also provide 3 nourishing, vegetarian meals. We ask for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week. We welcome nature-loving, commu... more inside

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE OF OUR PROFILE CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING.
We are an English couple aged 65 and 67, who speak just a little Portuguese. The house has a garden to one side and behind. Adjacent is an olive grove with fig trees. Our home will enable you to experience the real Algarve, where shepheards can still be seen minding their sheep and goats.
It is situated about 75 metres from the centre of a small village in the hills, approximately 20 mins drive from Faro city, airport and the nearest beaches. It is about 8 kms from the towns of Loule and Sao Bras. There is a limited bus service to the village from Faro and Loule.

We have lived here since 2005 and have slowly refurbished and updated.
What we are looking for is help with mainly outside general maintenance, repairs, painting, gardening, pruning. Someone who is competent with a strimmer and a chainsaw would be appreciated. A person who can erect guttering would also be welcome. A small amount of inside paint... more inside

Interested in travelling to Portugal and see the country starting from the coastal centre? Would you like to exchange your help for free accommodation (in a beautiful place), some meals and sharing the life of locals?

I am a 66-year old retired teacher and I live in a house situated on a hill, a former farm that produced wine but is no longer cultivated. The hill is very close to the city of Leiria, Portugal. I need some help to do some works like weeding the big garden.
Helping times could be scheduled for 4 hours a day for 2/3 weeks (free Sundays) in exchange for accommodation and some meals. If the helper prefers to do more hours a day then he could enjoy extra free time.
A couple would be welcome!
Leiria is a small city in the center of Portugal. To walk from my house to the city you take 10minutes down and 20m upwards :-)
To visit places of interest there are buses that take you to Lisbon (130km) or Porto (170km), return ticket about 30€ each. To the beaches (at a dis... more inside

We are a dutch couple, living at the edge of a very small village in the center of Portugal. We have many plans and ideals and are willing to learn every day.
Last year there was the big forest fire in the area where we live and our house and land burned down completely.
Over winter and spring a new house was built and recently we moved in. We kept part of the old house of which we already recovered a good deal. Part of the old kitchen with the ancient wood oven is recovered and in full use for making pizzas and other dishes in that oven :).
Although there still are many burned trees that needs to be cut, nature is recovering quickly. The land looks different than before the fire, but is still very beautiful and will be paradise again. There is plenty to do on the land, the former gardens and the forest.

We keep 10 goats at the moment, planning to expand in near future to 15. We take the goats out every day to our land for a couple of hours. The rest of the day they stay in ... more inside
