Hey there!

We are a young couple taking over a large acreage and garden in a beautiful small town in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, British Columbia. I (Ciel) am a Therapist and Artist, and my partner Brent is a teacher at the local elementary school. We have one son, Arrow, who is 2.5 and quite possibly the happiest human on the planet.

I grew up just down the road from this property and have known the original owners--Sue + Jurgen--all my life. Sue and Jurgen have built a third home on the property (there is a large home and a smaller one already) so that they can remain here, though they are both getting older and don't want to manage the property alone anymore, so we are buying them out.

The property is largely in its natural state--including a beautiful creek that runs through the middle of it-- but the gardens have been well-developed. 'Moosehouse' was the 'most beautiful garden in Canada' back in the 90's (according to a national magazine) and has been managed organically... more inside

We have a small guest ranch in the Robson Valley. We have 4 guest cabins, a small store and coffee shop, outdoor arena, roundpen and many horse pens with shelters. We have a total of 33 horses at the moment, a fun collection of horses, everything from a miniature to a draft, some experienced mountain horses, some rescues. Besides horses we have dogs and cats, so it's busy but fun!

We have guest staying in our cabins and we offer trail rides and give horsemanship and riding lessons, and offer courses and horse holidays, we also take on training horses although we're mostly busy training our own horses. We also offer "ranch nights", a cowboy/ranch experience for tourist, where we serve dinner and entertain guest with our ranch games, horse shows, line dancing etc.

Our ranch is a family business, but we are a young team running the day to day operations.

Unfortunately we can't take in any volunteers under 19.

Working on a ranch like ours means helping wherever you can... more inside

We are a family-run local ski and summer resort located 60 km east of Prince George, B.C., Canada. Nestled on the outskirts of the Canadian Rockies and overlooking the spectacular McGregor Mountains, we enjoy a beautiful Lake in the summer and an exciting Ski Hill in the winter. We welcome helpers seasonally, short-term or longer-term. Come and experience the great Canadian outdoors with us!

We would be happy to host helpers to run the ski lifts this winter season (2018/2019). Free accommodation is provided in exchange for 2-4 hours help/day on operating days. We ask that helpers provide their own food and the location is best for helpers travelling with a vehicle. We own and operate a remote, fly in Guide Outfitting business in Northern BC and are looking for 1-2 people to help in our camps from late August through to early (or mid) October as cooks/camp helpers. Breakfast and dinner are cooked for a group, lunches are packed. Camp help includes basic carpentry/fixing cabins, helping process meat from harvested animals, helping with the horses, and getting firewood. There are plenty of opportunities to go hiking, and also to occasionally head out with a guide for the day. There is the option to help trail the horses out at the end of the season. Accommodations are a shared cabin with wood heat, there is a generator for power. We are very remote so there is no wifi/phone etc. There are sat phones available. We would be happy to provide further details to anyone interested.

Hi our names are Ali and Tyler of Maverick Farms. Located in Bridge Lake, BC near 100 Mile House, we focus on ethical farming and educating the public on the importance of raising healthy, happy livestock. We raise sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, cattle, turkeys and rabbits. We are proud to supply our community with hormone free, naturally raised meat. We often provide petting zoos for community events and do talks/offer hands on experience to allow people to see how farming should be done.

Ali is a Realtor and is very involved in her horses and other animals. She would be happy to talk for hours about each of her animals and what she has learned from them and about them over the years. Tyler is a carpenter and is always willing to chat about woodworking/building!

After work is done, there may be the opportunity to enjoy a game of horseshoes, a swim in beautiful Bridge Lake, a kayak at a friends nearby resort, or a hike through the forest. Or maybe time to practice your... more inside

Hi there!

We run a riding and petting zoo located in the heart of beautiful North BC.

Apart from offering trail rides, pony rides and a petting zoo to the public we also host a non-profit program which provides equine assisted life skill learning courses/workshops for at-risk youth and children with mental health needs (e.g. autism, FASD, ADHD, etc.)

We recently moved to a beautiful new location conveniently closer to Smithers. The place provides a lot more space and offers unparalleled opportunities for trail riding and exploring amidst serene white peaked mountains and forested hills. Relocating a whole ranch with all of its human and animal inhabitants is quite an undertaking and we are working hard to get the ranch and learning center up and running.

We are looking for helpers all year round who are comfortable working at a ranch (especially with horses and other small farm animals) and who can offer a positive contribution on a daily basis. We have horses, ponies, s... more inside
